"Truth or Dare?" Cory asked.
"Hmm...Dare." Ronnie said, with a confident smile.
"You always pick dare!" Cory complained.
"Whatever, just hurry up already. I'm hungry." Ronnie said.
"Ok, I dare you too..." Cory thought, "Wear a dress for the whole day."
"No!" Ronnie protested.
"Yes! Finally a dare you can't do!" Cory said victoriously.
"C'mon, cut me a break." Ronnie said.
"Fine. But you HAVE to accept the dare next time." Cory replied.
"Whatever." Ronnie said. "So, truth or dare?"
Cory thought about it.
"Truth." Cory said.
"Alright." Ronnie said. She took a deep breath, she had always wanted to ask Cory this question.
"Why don't you have a dad?" Ronnie asked, afraid of the answer.
Cory went pale, and stared at the clouds. It was obviously a hard topic for him.
"Uh..." Cory peeped. It was an awkward situation for both Cory and Ronnie, and it was making Ronnie uncomfortable.
"You know what? Nevermind." Ronnie said. Cory didn't reply, he just kept staring at the sky.
"Sorry, your turn." Ronnie said, but it sounded more like a question. Cory nodded.
"Ok, truth or dare?" Cory said.
"Dare." Ronnie replied.
"Again? Really Ronnie?" Cory asked. Ronnie nodded in return.
"Ok, but it's a big dare, wanna here it?" Cory said. Ronnie eagerly shook her head, ready for the challenge.
"I dare you to...jump from the top of the Escape Tree." Cory said, smiling slyly.
Ronnie looked at the 20ft tree and gulped.
"Yeah, no big deal." Ronnie said, even surprising herself.
"Seriously? Ok, whatever." Cory said with wide eyes.
Ronnie walked over to the escape tree and hoisted herself up. She gingerly stepped on its branches.
"The whole way up the tree?" Ronnie asked nervously.
"The whole way!" Cory said.
Ronnie took a deep breath and climbed higher. She made it to the highest branch and looked down. It was a far jump. Cory stood on the ground giving her a thumbs up.
"Wow, this tree is pret-ty high." Ronnie said, nervously laughing.
"You're the one who wanted a dare!" Cory yelled from below.
Ronnie wiped her sweaty palms on her shorts, and prepared herself for the jump. She knew it would be a bad decision that she would regret, but she couldn't let Cory down.
"Ready?" Cory yelled.
"I think." Ronnie yelled back.
"Ok. 3.....2.....1.....JUMP!" Cory yelled.
Without thinking, Ronnie jumped off of the tree, sailing downward. She was so afraid that she screamed.
"Ronnie!" Cory yelled. Ronnie stared in horror at the ground below her.
THUMP! Ronnie hit the ground. Her head ached, like she had a massive migraine.
"Ronnie!" Cory yelled. "Ronnie, answer me! Are you ok?!" Cory cried.
Ronnie could here his voice, but couldn't answer in time. Her eyes slowly shut, and the world went black.
