Chapter 7...

"What are you doing here, Brad?"
Mitch was still a little emotionally drained from the whole Travis thing earlier that day.
"You're like gay right?"
Great conversation starter.
"Very." Mitch replied instantly.
Brandon stepped further into the classroom, still very far from the teacher.
"So you like other boys?"
That's what gay means.
"Uh huh."
"Not girls?" He asked for more reassurance.
"Yeah."
Brandon looked down at his shoes and played with his hands.
"Where is this going?"
Mitch was getting impatient but was still intrigued by the questioning.
Brandon took a deep breath and focused his gaze on the ceiling.
"Um... I think I like someone."
His voice got quieter and quieter.
"But they're like... um.. a boy."
It was painful for him to say out loud and almost instantly he started to cry.
"Oh my god, come here."
The teacher crossed the room and pulled him into a hug.
"It's ok." He whispered soothingly.
He rubbed his back and let him cry onto his shoulder.
Mitch was not expecting this type of conversation but it made him feel good that Brandon felt comfortable enough to come out to him.
"Sorry." He apologised for the tears on Mitch's shirt after a few minutes of silence.
They pulled away and Mitch got them both a seat. They sat opposite each other in the empty room.
"What's his name?"
He wanted to show Brandon it was normal and actually quite fun to talk about boys.
"Samuel." Brandon smiled.
"Hinton? He's in my drama class."
Didn't seem like Mr.Dylanson's type. Very shy and nerdy but the heart wants what the heart wants.
"I have English with him but, like, we don't sit next to each other. I've never spoken to him."
Brandon slumped his shoulders and felt very upset. He'd probably never get to talk with him.
Mitch sensed the sadness and tried to find a way to cheer him up.
"You have music with Mr.Kaplan?" He questioned the boy.
"I think so."
To be honest Brandon didn't pay attention to teachers' names. He had names for them in his head though.
The math teacher was Mr.Blondie, the English teacher was Miss.CrazyLady, sports was Mr.Muscles, etc.
"Wanna know a secret?" Mitch whispered.
"Always."
He could tell one kid right?
"Our classes are getting put together- Mr.Kaplan and I. If you want I could put you in Samuel's group?"
The boy's eyes lit up.
"Really?"
"Sure."
It wasn't an inconvenience and watching the couple might be cute.
"Thank you! You're the best." He jumped up to hug Mitch again.
"I think it's time to go home now, Brad. Don't stay up too late thinking of Sam." Mitch winked patting him on the back.
Brandon scurried out the room with a huge grin on his face. His might get to talk to his first crush.
All thanks to Mr.Grassi.

"Today has been the longest day in history."
He fell onto the couch next to Scott and took a very large sip of wine.
Who could blame him with the day he'd had?
"Start from the beginning."
Scott crossed his legs and faced Mitch on the sofa. They were having yet another wine night.
"Mine and Mr.Dickhead's departments are being put together."
"Avi?" The blond asked.
"Yeah, that's what I said."
Scott laughed at his shadyness.
"This morning we had to move everything into one room. It was so stressful and he pissed me off so much."
He sighed remembering the way Avi and him had acted. Mitch also remembered the countless times they'd flirted but decided to keep that to himself.
"Surprised you're still both alive."
"Me too." Mitch nodded taking a sip from his mug.
"Is that it?"
Didn't seem to be the worst day Mitch had ever told him about.
The smaller man gave him a look. It said: 'Really, motherfucker?'
"Sorry, carry on." Scott replied.
Mitch took a breath and began his rant.
"Basically he was so annoying I had to leave. I couldn't even look at his face at that point."
"You just left?"
"Sis, I would've punched him."
Scott rolled his eyes and gave him a you-definitely-wouldn't-have face.
"Anyway. I went to the English classes and dragged Travis out."
"Slay."
"I needed to get my anger out somehow." He laughed.
The blond motioned for him to continue the story.
"We were making out and he told me..."
"What?" Scott interupted.
"He told me he has a..."
"Disease? Wooden leg? Third nipple?"
Bitch what? Scott had lost it, Mitch was sure.
"What's wrong with you?"
They started to laugh really hard and Scott replied through giggles.
"I am perfect and you know it." He put his hand on his heart in mock offense.
Mitch sighed.
Most people didn't understand their friendship. It was built on insults, stupid puns, and dirty jokes. But it was perfect.
"He has a wife." Mitch said suddenly.
Silence. Stunned silence.
Scott blew air out of his mouth and shook his head.
"Wow. That's worse than a third nipple."
"Yep." Mitch agreed.
They both took another sip.
"What'd you say?" Scott asked.
"I broke up with him but we weren't even going out. I don't know what to call it."
Scott thought for a second, making sure he used the correct terminology.
"You terminated the booty call."
He said it with such a serious face.
"Yes, sis." Mitch pushed Scott's shoulder.
Mitch couldn't really disagree with the statement and to be honest it sounded cool.
"Was this all before lunch?"
"Like I said, long day." Mitch replied.
It wasn't his full day though.
Mitch was going to tell Scott about the whole Brandon situation but didn't want to be telling secrets. He hadn't said to not tell anyone but Mitch felt it was something Brandon might not want everyone to know about just yet.
"I have some news." Scott announced.
"You're getting married." Mitch answered instantly.
"What? No!" Scott shouted but then got really sad. "I wish."
"Ooook." Mitch said, being uncomfortable with the sudden change of emotions.
That conversation suddenly got a bit too serious.
There was a ten second awkward silence. Both found it funny though so it ended in laughter.
Most things ended in laughter with these two.
"Don't get too excited, it's bad news."
"Great." Mitch replied sarcastically.
"Starting Monday I'm gonna be head of math." Scott sighed.
"Really? That's good news, isn't it?"
Mitch couldn't see much of a problem. More pay, more power, more everything.
"Ben's leaving. Alex is going on tour."
Shit. Mitch understood now.
Scott and Alex were the cutest couple to ever live but they never got to see each other for more than a few weeks.
Mitch snapped his head up at the sound of Scott crying.
"Aw. Babe, come here." The two friends hugged.
Déjà vu of earlier that day hit Mitch. He'd comforted another crying boy only a few hours before.
Mitch was turning into some sort of personal therapist.
Possible new career opportunity?
He could see it now.
Dr.Grassi - richest and most successful therapist the world has ever seen.
Perfect.
