36 - Pleasure
Avi quickly joined in with the bass line as the speakers on his phone weren't good enough for his liking.
And because (although he would never admit it to anyone) he wanted to show off in front of Mitch.
"Take all of me." Mitch continued.
The old man in the room started to stir and eventually woke up due to Mitch's singing.
Imagine waking up to that, Avi started to think.
"Just wanna be the girl you like."
He had to stop thinking like that, he was never going to wake up to Mitch's voice.
The song continued on for a little while longer and ended with an extremely impressive high note.
When the song ended Mitch was smiling widely.
"That was soooo fun!"
Avi had forgotten that the app only played one verse and the chorus, the disappointment he felt when Mitch stopped singing hit him hard.
The teenage girl had taken out her earphones to listen and the mother was staring.
Mitch sheepishly smiled at them and gave the phone back to Avi. "Thanks." He muttered.
Avi couldn't form actual sentences that described the performance he just heard. "You sound... I can't even... that was..."
Mitch blushed and pushed his shoulder to make him stop the compliments.
"How come I've never heard you sing before?" He asked in disbelief.
Mitch shrugged. "You never asked."
The grin on his face made Avi smile. As soon as Mitch started to look for another song on the app, the phone went blank and shut off.
"Battery's dead." Avi said sadly. He reclaimed the phone and put it back in his pocket.
There were a few moments of quiet where no one spoke. The girl put her headphones back in and the old man fell asleep again.
"I've got it!" Mitch shouted suddenly, causing the man to jump a mile.
Avi looked over and apologised to him then turned to Mitch.
"What?" He asked excitedly.
"That's how we can raise money!"
Avi rubbed his beard in thought.
How would Mitch's singing bring in enough money to run a school for year?
"Think about it..." Mitch started as he clenched his fists. "...We could do a show. The kids could perform their songs, we could get some teachers to join too."
That made more sense. Since Avi had worked there the school had never put on a full production or anything to show off the music or drama departments.
The kids would probably hate the idea at first but eventually Avi was sure they'd warm up to it.
Avi nodded his head. "That's a great idea, let's do it."

Alyssa ended up staying for the whole night so that they could be sure there was nothing to worry about.
Apparently they hadn't found anything 'that looks to be an issue'.
No issue?
A pregnant woman screaming in pain holding her stomach, not an issue?
Anyway, Kevin feel asleep in a chair next to Alyssa's bed, wet tears still on his cheeks and still holding tightly onto her hand.
The nurse had checked on them and had allowed him to stay the night, he didn't seem to be making too much trouble.
Mitch and Avi waited until 2am but eventually left when they checked on the sleeping couple. They exited the waiting room together and got into Avi's car.
He turned on the ignition and cracked his knuckles. When he didn't hear a comment from Mitch he looked over to the passenger seat.
The sight was hilarious and beautiful at the same time.
Mitch's head had fallen onto the window, his forehead smacking the glass with his eyes still shut.
Avi chuckled lightly.
Mitch lifted a hand to his aching head and scrunched his eyes tighter. His arm dropped into his lap and his mouth hung open.
Avi watched Mitch's plump lips as they opened and shut, resembling a fish in water.
If Mitch had seen himself, he would have laughed and cussed for looking so strange, but to Avi he looked wonderful.
Just as that thought crossed his mind, Mitch's head bobbed down again, making his temple collide with the window.
"Let's get you home." Avi whispered as Mitch rubbed the side of his head. He opened his eyes slightly but they shut again almost instantly.
A moment later the younger man's head lulled the other way and landed on Avi's shoulder. As he searched for comfort Mitch snuggled into Avi's neck and draped a leg over his lap.
Avi thought his heart was literally going to jump out his chest.
------
The next morning Mitch woke up in Avi's bed.
The fear Mitch felt when he opened his eyes was, well, it was indescribable.
He frantically pushed himself up and nearly fell out of the bed while doing so. He was stopped, however, Avi's arms around him.
"Woah there, Munchkin."
Avi's arms were wrapped around the front of Mitch's waist as he dangled off the edge of the bed, head almost touching the carpet.
He pulled the smaller man up slowly and placed him back onto the mattress.
"Why I am...?" Mitch started as he looked around the room.
Avi laughed in his soothing bass tones and got up from his bed. "Don't worry, nothing happened."
Mitch didn't believe him. He tried to check his neck and collar for hickeys but then realised he couldn't actually see above his chest without a mirror.
"What are you doing?" Avi asked as Mitch tried to see his own neck.
He ignored him and continued to check his body for evidence of foul play last night.
He swiftly lifted the covers and found himself in a pair of dragon pajamas and a black tank.
He lowered it slowly and looked over at Avi who was stood with crossed arms and an amused expression.
"Sorry. Had to be sure." Mitch said sheepishly.
The pair ate breakfast and talked for a little while before Mitch decided to leave.
"Thanks for, you know, taking me home and um... everything. Sorry I, like, fell asleep on you or whatever-"
"Mitch." Avi interupted as he opened the front door.
The smaller man stepped onto the path and faced Avi again.
"Yeah?" He asked quietly.
Avi bent down and held Mitch's face in his hand. He lowered his head, his lips making gentle contact with Mitch's soft cheek, and sighed happily.
"It was my pleasure."
