30 - Jerstie

I'm soooo sorry for taking so long.

Don't be fooled by the title though, this probs has the most of Mitch and Avi of any chapter so far.

So... *raises flag into sky* ... MAVI MAVI MAVI

Enjoy.

Avi, Mitch, Scott, and Alex were all sat around a table decorating gingerbread men. The surface was covered in glitter, icing, and spilt drinks.

Avi had been invited so that he and Mitch could have some casual conversations and maybe just a little flirting. Well that was what Scott wanted anyway.

Scott had also invited Kirstie but when told about who would be joining she declined.

"Who's that?" Avi asked as he pointed to Mitch's cookie.

He added another dot of icing. "Guess." He said.

Avi looked at the design. It had swooping black hair and silver glitter all over it. It was wearing a pink dress with white shoes and had brown eyes.

"You?" Avi asked hesitantly.

Mitch clapped happily and nodded. "Yes, girl!" He said with a high five.

Avi was proud of himself and that showed through his cocky smile. Alex looked between the pair and tapped Scott's shoulder.

He leaned into his side and whispered into his ear. "Are they, like, a thing?" He asked.

Scott covered his mouth with his hand and laughed. "Not yet."

They continued to decorate for a while longer. Mitch created two cookies, one of himself and one of Scott. Alex made himself and Dorothy, Scott made himself and Beyonce, and Avi created himself and Mitch.

"You like it?" He asked holding it out for Mitch to look at.

It was sparkly and covered in pink and black icing. Avi had tried really hard so that Mitch wouldn't be offended by the creation. He even added a little dot of glitter for his septum piercing.

"No." Mitch joked.

Alex snorted but Scott was too overwhelmed by how cute they were being.

Avi laughed in a octave that Mitch didn't know existed. "Draaaag."

"I'm kidding." He reassured.

The gesture was insanely sweet...

Get it? Sweet? Cookies?

No? Ok, sorry.

Mitch knew how much effort Avi had put into it and his heart fluttered inside his chest.

"Have it if you want." Avi mumbled shyly.

Scott was going to explode. He realised then that they needed no help getting together, they were doing fine on their own.

Scott watched as Avi passed it to Mitch and his best friend looked down at it gratefully.

"Thanks." Mitch muttered.

Alex, even though he thought they were cute, started to get bored with all the gentle flirting. He picked up the tube of icing and started squeezing it into his mouth.

The rest of the table laughed. All except for Mitch who was too busy trying to subtly get a photo of the gingerbread man.

He took two before Scott noticed. Mitch blushed and looked away as his friend winked at him and smiled.

"Kirstie, why are you calling me?"

What a nice hello. Jeez, people nowadays.

"Hello to you too." She said under her breath.

Jeremy instantly knew something was wrong. His loveable, excitable crush didn't ever speak like this.

"Honey, what's wrong?" He asked soothingly into the phone.

Kirstie proceed to rant to him about everything that had happened in the last two days. She told him about the tour with the inspector, Mitch and Avi getting her school shut down, and Brad and Samuel being assaulted. By the end she was in tears and in need of a hug.

"I'm coming." He said loudly. "Where'd you live?"

Through sobs, she told him her address and said goodbye.

A knock on the door was heard no more than 15 minutes later.

"Come here." He said as he brought her into his arms.

She may have had mascara running down her cheeks and hair like a birds nest but to Jeremy she looked beautiful.

He leant down and rested his chin on the top of her head. He smelt the coconut in her hair and the scent of expensive perfume from her neck.

He realised in that moment that there was never going to be a better time to say what he'd been wanting to say for so long.

"I know we've only known each other for a few weeks..." He started.

Kirstie pulled herself away from his chest but kept her arms around him.

"But I... um... I really like you." He continued, smiling hopefully.

She couldn't believe it. This handsome, gigantic, gorgeous man likes her?

"And I..." He stuttered. "Will you...?"

Kirstie's mouth dropped to the floor in realisation. He was going to ask her to be--

"Kirstin Maldonado, will you be my girlfriend?"

------

Avi had forgotten that he brought his car. He'd only had a little to drink but didn't want to risk the drive.

Alex and Scott were snuggled up on the sofa, too comfortable to move. They were so happy to be back together and honestly couldn't find it in them to let go of each other.

"I'll drop you back." Mitch said quietly when Avi walked into the kitchen.

He smiled gratefully and agreed. They thanked Scott and Alex for the evening and then left.

"Where's your house?" Mitch asked as he started the engine.

Avi looked over but didn't reply.

The darkness of the evening made Mitch's features stand out even more than usual and the moonlight shone down and lit up his eyes.

How was he supposed to concentrate on conversation when Mitch looked so good?

"Avi?" He asked.

Mitch's lips looked so pink and full under the starred sky as he spoke. It didn't matter what he said, every word Mitch spoke sounded like it came from heaven above.

One of his pretty eyes was hidden behind his black hair so Avi reached out and brushed it back. He tucked it behind his ear and rested his hand there, gently cupping his face with his palm.

Mitch took a shaky breath and pushed his face into the hand. Avi spread his fingers wide and used his thumb to gently touch Mitch's bottom lip.

Mitch opened his mouth and let his lip drag against the pad of Avi's thumb.

Avi bit into his own lip and held his breath. In that very moment he realised what he was doing and retracted his hand.

He couldn't fall for Mitch. Mitch hated him.

"Sorry." He murmured turning to look out the window.

And, if the mood hadn't been dramatic enough, rain suddenly started falling from the sky.

He watched the street fill with puddles and saw as they rippled under the light of the moon.

Avi sighed and thought of the man next to him who hadn't moved since he pulled away.

He probably hated him twice as much now.

What Avi didn't know was that Mitch hadn't moved because he was desperately trying to calm his racing heart.

Did he like Avi?
