"Where's Mr.Kaplan?"

Maybe he's lost like the natural colour of this kids' hair.

"I don't know." Mitch answered politely.

"I saw him this morning."

Wasn't it obvious Mitch didn't care?

"Just go back to your group." He dismissed her with a wave of his hand.

After their argument earlier Avi had stormed off. The bell rang no more than a minute later, leaving Mitch to teach the class alone.

He'd walked out into the hallways with not much clue to where he was going.

Avi walked passed Kevin's room but he didn't want to disturb him on his first day back. He passed Esther's but, seeing as he hadn't even told her he was bi, she wouldn't be much help.

Avi looked like he was walking with purpose but he didn't know where he was going. He was just thinking.

He didn't want to have to come out.

He didn't want to be different. He'd spent over twenty years of his life straight and didn't like the change.

It was Mitch's fault.

It was all Mitch's fault.

It was Mitch's fault he had to have those stupid serious conversations about his sexuality to those close to him.

Before he knew it, Avi was outside the math classes. There was only one that was empty of students.

Mr.Hoying's.

They'd spoken before but they weren't really friends. Avi remembered liking his bubbly personality though so walked through the door.

"Mr.Kaplan?" Scott asked looking towards the doorway with a confused expression on his face.

"Hoying." Avi nodded.

"Don't normally see you around here."

Scott stood up and gave Avi a gentle hug.

"I need to talk."

They weren't strangers but they weren't friends. Scott didn't understand why Avi had come to him.

"I don't know how much help I can be."

Avi walked in further and took a seat in the front row of desks.

"I just need to rant. You don't have to listen."

"It's fine." Scott reassured.

His phone call with Alex earlier had been great and he was feeling extra happy.

"It's kinda personal. I can trust you, right?"

"Of course."

He took a deep breath.

"I got drunk at the party on Saturday and told Mitch I'm bisexual."

Scott was not expecting that.

"Wow. Congrats, man."

"Thanks."

He told Mitch? Scott had spent so many nights listening to Mitch bitching about Avi, he honestly forgot what he was like as a person.

He seems nicer than Mitch makes him out to be.

"You must have been wasted though. To tell Mitch, I mean."

"Very. I can't remember anything from that night. Ever since then though it's been really awkward between us."

He couldn't remember anything? Avi must have been drunk.

Scott wondered what had happened between the two enemies.

"Mitch isn't normally weird about sexuality."

Scott knew 100% that Mitch wasn't being weird because Avi was bi. There had to be another reason.

"I know." Avi sighed.

"Is that why you're so upset?"

"Kind of. It's more just... basically I've finding it really hard to come out."

"You did great just now."

"Oh yeah."

Avi didn't even realise that was a coming out. Maybe long, annoying conversations weren't needed.

"See. It's not that bad. But I've never personally come out so I don't know."

They weren't close but Avi had certainly heard of Scott's famous boyfriend. Who hadn't?

"I thought you had a boyfriend?" He questioned.

"I do. But that has nothing to do with me coming out. I don't like labels so I don't use them."

That sounded amazing.

"So you're not gay or straight or whatever?"

"Nope, I'm just me. And I'm always changing my mind anyway."

Avi was astounded. He wanted to do that.

He wouldn't have to say whether he liked girls or guys and he didn't have to come out.

"That's so cool. Can I steal that?"

"Go ahead. It makes things so much easier."

Scott had no idea why Mitch hated Avi so much. He seemed like a really nice guy.

"But when you first discovered you weren't straight, what was it like?" Avi asked, hoping for some advice on crushes or dreams.

"I was twelve, I think. I had this huge crush on the boy that sat in front of me in my French class."

Scott started laughing.

"What happened?"

"Oh my god, literally nothing. I wrote his name all over my books though."

Avi could imagine baby Scott doodling love hearts all over his books. "That's cute."

Scott shook his head with a smile and leant forwards to rest his head on his hands.

"How'd you find out?" Scott asked.

"Um... I started to... I felt some things for someone I've known for a while."

"You know them? You guys close?"

Scott had someone in mind. He continued to ask further just to make sure.

"Kinda. It was weird, you know? I felt like I did when girls talk to me."

"Totally, I get it. Why don't you ask him out?"

"No! I don't like him anyway. We actually both hate each other."

Oh my god.

"Really?"
