Suppastar a.k.a @superstar806

Have you ever thought that love can happen even if you don't see each other? Maybe from a distance of two balconies?

Sounds crazy, right?

But that is exactly what happened with Vikramaditya and Kajal.

Who are they?

How can you forget? They are the characters of the beautiful story 'The Balcony' of superstar806

Me: Hey Supriya!

Supriya: Hi Amisha!

Me: Let's start with the interview.

Tell us something about yourself.

Supriya: I am Supriya and i will define myself by saying that I am an avid reader, a restless writer, a fierce feminist and a loyal friend.

Me: Actually along with restless you can use great writer too.

So how did you get the motivation to write?

Supriya: Oh, this is an interesting question.
I actually always wanted to write but I never had the confidence to do it. Then I met one of my best friends in college who asked me to write
something for the college newsletter. I said no I can’t. And she asked this question that kind of changed my whole outlook on life.
She asked me, “Why not?”
I didn’t really have an answer to that. So, I started writing then and didn’t stop.

I owe my writing journey to
her.

Me: Bless your friend. Just because of her and your college newsletter it became possible for us to read your works.

So how did you get to know about Wattpad?

Supriya: I feel like my whole journey is influenced by my friends. My childhood friend who is one
of the sweetest people I know, introduced me to Wattpad. She was reading stories there and she was reading my stories on a Word document. So she made the connection. She said I would really enjoy Wattpad and that people would like my stories there. She wasn’t
wrong. People have been very kind to me on this platform. 😄😄😄

Me: Well, then bless her too. And indeed Wattpad has some very good readers. Cheers to you dear readers!

It is said that books are somehow related to us. Is it true in your case?

Supriya: You mean my books? That is an interesting question.

I think we write stories that we want to write. We write stories that we want to tell the world. They stem from a place of truth for us. So yeah maybe they are related to the real world.

Me: That was quite right.

How do you manage your busy schedule along with writing?

Supriya: I am a very restless writer. I keep feeling the need to write all the time so I guess that helps.

Me: That explains restless!
Who is your favorite writer on and off Wattpad?

Supriya: Ooooo! I like @Kimayaa on Wattpad. She’s written this series called ‘Back to Back.’ I really enjoyed reading all three parts. It’s got interesting characters with rich backstories. I really like that in a story.

Off Wattpad, I love JK Rowling, Meg Cabot, Sophie Kinsella, Jenny Han, Stephanie Perkins, Julia Quinn, Anuja Chauhan and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Me: Now I am going to tag Kimayaa here to let her know how much love she gets.

Tell us something fun and something distinctive about you.

Supriya: I fell in a bucket of dal once. 😂😂😂😂

Me: 😂😂😂😂 I am very clumsy. These things happen to me on a regular basis.😂😂😂

If you had to suggest one of your books to be read by a new comer on Wattpad, which one would it be and why?

Supriya: It would be a toss-up between ‘The Balcony’ and ‘Not You.’
I would recommend these two because I had the most fun writing them and that, I think, shows in the end product.

Me:  If you have to recommend someone else's book which one would you recommend?

Supriya: The 'Back to Back' series by Kimayaa , of course!

Me: Now, I have got to try her book once.

Any tip for the new writers.

Supriya: I remember reading this piece and it’s something I hold very close to my heart. The gist of it was we all begin our art because we love it. But it takes time, effort and determination to get where we want to be. We don’t get there in one go. That can be disheartening sometimes. But the only way we will reach where we want to reach is by putting in the work.
Also, every piece of writing has its own purpose. It could be the work that gets you name and fame or it could be something that made someone laugh on a bad day or it could be the stepping stone to where you need to go. At the end of the day, they’re all important.

Me: That's motivating.

Let's take the interview to your books now.
Among Kajal, Sara, Lakshmi, Aditi, Shikha and Aurora,
a) who is more like you?
b) who would you love to befriend?
c) whose quality are you not fond of?
Give reasons too.

Supriya: Haha, I was kind of waiting for this question.

a) Sara, I’d say. She’s a bit of a scatterbrain like me.
b) All of them! They’re all such lovely women.
c) Huh. Good question. In jest, I would say Kajal’s hyper-organizing skills. I wish I was more like that.

Me: If only my mom had a daughter like Kajal 🙄🙄

Can we expect a spin off for Samrat? He seemed like a very charming character. 😬😬

Supriya: Hehe, thanks! I would love to know his story too. He’s yet to tell me about it. So, yes one day I hope.

Me: Force her to write a sequel on Samrat. We all want to know about him, isn't it?

What is the worst writer's block you ever had?

Supriya: Probably around the beginning of Dear Pat. It took 2 years and some very kind readers to
help me get back to it.

Me: Thank you dear readers for being there for us always! 😊😊

What is the best and the worst comment on any of your book?

Supriya: Oh wow! I really don’t know how to pick because there are so many of them! Any time anyone says they laughed or they felt happy or their bad day became good because they read my stories, my day is made. That is the reason I write.

Touch wood, so far I’ve had a lot of kind comments for my work so I don’t have a response to the second part of the question.

Me: Touchwood!

Ok, so this is my personal question.

Can we expect some extra chapters or maybe a sequel for The Balcony?
*puppy dog eyes*

Supriya: Well, I think the story has covered the arc I had in mind for it. So no sequels in the near
future. But never say never. 😄😄

Me: Please try. I want to meet Vikramaditya again.

How did this idea came to your mind that attraction can happen without seeing each other
too?

Supriya: I like exploring unique storylines when it comes to romance because it is such a vast genre that already has so many good stories. Also, I think conversations are a very important part of a romance. I wanted a good banter between the two characters so I wrote it from that point of view. The attraction, I guess, became a part of that conversation.

Me: This was actually a very unique but a very nice idea.

So what's your spirit animal?

Supriya: A baby elephant. I saw this picture where a six-month old elephant got a stack of hay as a
birthday present and he got so excited that he fell over. I could really relate to that.

Me: That's cute!!!

Vikramaditya is a perfect kind of guy. He is a charming but also very professional. Who is the inspiration behind this character?

Supriya: Truth be told, I don’t think I have an inspiration for this character. I had seen a lot of opposites attract kind of stories. I wondered what would happen if two very similar people fell in love. So I think from that point of view, Kajal is the inspiration for Vikramaditya. 😄

Me: Now when you say it, Kajal and Vik are actually very similar.

The balcony is quite like many love stories but with a fresh appeal in it. How did this storyline come to you?

Supriya: Another interesting question with an interesting answer. I was actually writing another story as a gift for a friend. She happened to ask what I was working on. I didn’t want to reveal the plot of that story so I just told her I was writing a story about a girl who has an annoying neighbour who plays even more annoying music. That was the base that I used to create this story.

Me: That's sweet!

And the concluding question if you had to give a face to all the characters of The Balcony
who would they be?

Supriya: Good question. I have never been able to match faces to characters actually. But, I remember when I was writing ‘The Balcony,’ I could somewhat connect Vikramaditya to
Ranveer Singh’s character from Lootera. He was quiet, calm and charming which I wanted even Vikramaditya to be.

Me: Well, lootera was one beautiful movie. I don't know why it didn't work much.☹️  Never thought Ranveer could be impressive in such a serious role.

Thanks Supriya for giving such nice answers and taking out your time for this interview. Waiting to read a sequel on Samrat.

Supriya: This interview was so much fun to do! I want to thank Amisha for this. It really made my day and made me smile from ear to ear!

Bye!
