"Who are you, then?"

Taylor hated when her mom set her up with random people she knew. It was always like "she's a really nice girl, she's the daughter of my boss, you will like her" or "I met her at the supermarket, she helped me find a product I was looking for".

Taylor swore it's gonna be the last time she's attending to one of these blind dates. She loved her mom, it was hard to say no to her but blondie really had enough.

She was walking to this café to meet the "nicest girl" her mom has ever met. At least, that's what Andrea said.

Y/N was sipping her cappuccino and studying for her finals at her favorite café. She was waiting for her best friend to arrive, they agreed on having a study session together.

This time of the year was always so stressful and overwhelming for the 23 years old. She was working so hard to be a successful lawyer but she was tired. She only had time for studying. No relationships, no friends or family get togethers, nothing fun just reading her notes and books.

Y/N saw a silhouette sitting down on the chair in front of her. Assuming it was her best friend, Y/BF/N, she greeted her with a big smile on her face.

"Yey, you're finally here" but when Y/N looked up, she faced a complete stranger.

She wasn't complaining, though. The woman in front of her was extremely beautiful. She had long, wavy, blonde hair and mesmerizing blue eyes. She looked elegant.

"I know, sorry I was late, traffic was wild on the way here."

"Ohm, I mean, no problem, I guess?" the soon-to-be lawyer replied, even more confused than she was before.

"I know how it looks like, my mom sets me up on blind dates with strangers, pathetic. But truth to be told, I'm only coming to these dates because she's extremely excited about them and I don't want to disappoint her, ya know" the woman rambled.

"Thanks for sharing" chuckled Y/N.

New York never seemed to disappoint her. Every day she had to face crazy people on the streets, at her job, maybe at university. But she has never experienced anything like this before.

"So uhm, I'm Taylor but you probably know that, I bet my mom told you a lot of embarrassing stories about me."

"No, she never did, actually. I'd like to hear some" Y/N went along with it, she thought Taylor was just lonely and needed some company, or someone who she can talk to.

"Oh, I have a lot, should I start with the best or the worst one?"

Taylor told some stories to Y/N and vice versa. Y/N thought that Blondie was extremely fun to be around and liked the girl already. She still thought Taylor was some kind of crazy, but not the dangerous kind of crazy.

"You look pretty young, and that's a compliment" the woman giggled. "My mom said you're around 34 years. You're in pretty good shape."

"You really think I know your mom?" Y/N frowned.

"What do you mean? Of course you know my mom.."

"Okay, listen, I need to ask. Don't get mad at me, please. Nor don't beat my ass.." the lawyer whispered the last part to herself "Do you take pills?"

"What?" Taylor asked, now she was the confused one.

"I mean, are you on meds?"

"Why would I be? Yeah, sometimes people think I'm crazy because of my songs and past relationships but I wouldn't consider myself crazy at all" she nervously chuckled, feeling her face burning.

Usually, she hated these dates, it was only a burden for her but with Y/N, it was different. She liked the girl, she was gorgeous, funny and smart. Her mom really did a good job this time. So, she felt extremely embarrassed when the girl started asking here these questions.

Just when Y/N was about to keep the conversation going, a tall brunette walked to their table and smiled at Taylor.

"You're Taylor Swift, right? I'm pretty sure you are, your mom showed me a lot of pictures of you when she tried to convince me to come to this date" the girl laughed.

Taylor eyes widened and looked at you, then at the brown haired girl.

"Are you Ella?"

"That is correct" smiled the other woman, who was still standing next to your table.

"Who are you, then?" now it was your turn to answer.

"I'm Y/N" you smiled and waved a little.

"That's why you thought I was crazy, huh? You had no idea who I was or why I am here" you nodded your head, still smiling. "That's so embarrassing, oh my god."

"Would you fill me in?" asked Ella, clearly not understanding the situation.

"Well, Miss Blondie here thought she's having this blind date with me. On the other hand, I was just waiting here for my best friend to come, so we can study together for our finals. Let me tell you, I was super confused when she sat down here. I thought she was another crazy New Yorker" Y/N laughed.

"I'm sooo dumb" Taylor groaned.

"Well, you can still have that date with me" Elle shrugged, looked at you and faked a smile.

"Oh, uhm, of course. Sorry, for ruining your date. Have fun!" you said, clearly disappointed. You packed your laptop and your notes and moved to another table.

Truth to be told, you were quite sad. Now, that you know Taylor was not crazy, you wanted to get to know her better. But that's your luck, she's over there, four tables away, having a date with a much wiser, smarter, older and prettier woman.

Your thoughts were interrupted by your phone. It was a text from your best friend.

"can't do this afternoon, i'm so sorry! something came up. i'll make it up to you. xoxo"

That's just great. Another boring study session alone. On top of that, you can watch Taylor and this girl flirting and laughing, clearly having more fun than she did with you.

Taylor was enjoying herself a lot. But not because this girl was her soulmate. No, definitely not because of that. Ella was obnoxious, very self-centered, a narcissist. She wasn't really smart either.

It was entertaining at first, but after 20 minutes, Taylor caught herself starting at you. You looked adorable concentrating on your school work. You were chewing on your pen and playing with the papers in front of you.

"Look, Ella," Taylor interrupted the girl. "You're so nice, really and I appreciate you for coming but I don't think it's gonna work between us."

"Excuse me? Is it what I think it is right now? You did not just turn me down..."

"I did, actually. Look, I'm so sorry for wasting yo..."

"You know what, Taylor?! I bet you, or your mom will never find anyone that's gonna be good for you. It's just fucking pathetic. You're fucking pathetic" and with that, Ella stormed out of the café, leaving Taylor totally shocked.

"Well, that went great, thank you, Mother" she sighed but she didn't waste more time, she got up and slowly walked to your table.

"Can I bother you for a minute?" she asked, more shy than the first time today.

"Of course, how was your date?" you closed one of your books and paid attention to her.

"Well, it was great, I liked it a lot, the girl was a real cutie but she was leaving too soon, sadly. My second date? That was a disaster, don't wanna talk about it" Y/N blushed at the older woman's compliment and chuckled a little. "Please, tell me you're over 21" Taylor continued, remembering the other girl is studying for her final exams. Meaning, she can be underaged and still at high school.

"I am" Y/N smiled from ear to ear. "I'm 23, almost 24."

"Great! How does a dinner sound like?" the singer winked playfully.

"Let me think about it" joked Y/N.

"Oh, come on! Shut up and let's go" Taylor laughed.

Y/N packed her things and exited the café with Taylor by her side. Deep down Taylor was grateful for her mom for this date, even tho it took a little twist, the blonde haired woman didn't mind it at all.
