Chapter Three: Birtthdays
Tauren's POV
My birthday.
It's my seventeenth birthday alongside Trenton's birthday.
It's funny to say that because while Trenton's celebrations are full of love and laughter, I only had to look forward to more beatings and reminders how worthless I was and "an abomination to a pack of greatness."
"Waste of space!"
"You should be grateful that we're allowing you to live! You're are not worth celebrating!"
"I wish that your parents and brother would just have you killed already. Why that Alpha and his wife and daughter allow you to stay alive , I'll never know!"
"You're nothing but bad luck in the strongest werewolf pack of the Sooner State, runt! The Moon Goddess and her spawn must've been drunk when you were created! They ought to be ashamed of themselves!"
Such were the words of those who came to Trenton's party today and wanted to "grace me with their appearance (as quoted by my mother)" and bless me with their fists, legs, and human wastes alongside any weapon made of silver to keep me from healing myself (like that'll make any difference since I still couldn't heal myself without my wolf). And since Anissa and Elisse were barred from seeing me per Eric's orders, I had no one to come check in on me or grant me any relief from the beatings that were the theme for my day.
At times, I wondered if it would be a blessing for everyone if I had decided to end it all just to grant my family's wish of wanting me out of their lives. I'd imagine it'd be easy to take the silver knife that Dad would throw at me in hopes to end it all to slash my throat or stab myself in the heart. Or better yet, I'd imagine myself that I had the powers from the guy in "The Butterfly Effect" to go back to the moment when I was in the womb to end my life before I came into the world. Maybe then everyone would be free from my appearance and I wouldn't have been such a bother to everyone who hated me.
But Anissa and Elisse alongside all the compassionate and those left out of the loop would be sad that I broke their promise of not killing myself like I vowed to them. "No matter what our parents and Trenton alongside Eric and his followers do to you, swear to us that you'll keep on living and fighting to survive the rejections," Anissa had said fiercely when I was only thirteen. "Life may be one cold war, Tauren, but you cannot let anyone push you to the point where suicide is your only option. The Moon Goddess won't allow it and neither would Her family nor I. Don't let them win and don't break my heart, Tauren."
I couldn't say no to that face that's laced with concern and eyes full of sorrow when it came to my broken soul. And of course, folks, I kept my vow despite everything so far.
Everyone said that I was strong enough to undergo everything that came my way. I wished I could believe that because right now, I never felt so alone.
SMACK!
SLAP!
POW!
"Useless! Useless! Useless!" Dad roared as he and a few of the older cold-hearted warriors continued their reign of torment on me, my body still bleeding! "Why must you be born on the same day as the true son of this family, runt! I wish that thunder and lightning would kill you where you stand!"
"ENOUGH!" I heard the LIVID Creole drawl of Francis Deveraux as the dark-skinned seer stormed into the attic and breezed through my father and his cronies. "Mr. Knox, you are killing your son!"
"That thing is not my son," Dad hissed, landing a kick to my side as I whimpered from the pain. "And death would be a blessing to this family since that runt is nothing more than bad luck!"
He spat on my face while another man landed another punch to my jaw.
Francis hissed angrily, snapping his fingers before my tormentors disappeared instantly. "Tauren," he said, his glare morphing to a look of sadness as he took me back to my mattress. "Tauren, I am so sorry for-"
"I deserved this," I cut him off, groaning in pain while the seer began grabbing old rags and a container of wipes to clean my soiled body. "This is what I get for being born. I should even be lucky to be allowed to live, Frankie. My brother deserves to be loved and I deserved to be beaten."
"Don't say that," he replied angrily. "No one deserves this kind of treatment, ever! This family and this pack is heading for the end. I'm only sorry that I can't do more for you than this."
"It's all right, man. I'm just waiting for the ultimate day when I am greeted by the hands of death with open arms so I can take my eternal slumber."
"Dear Goddess," came the voice of my sainted sister Anissa as she, carrying a small container of food, came inside and joined the now-crying seer in cleaning the feces and piss off from my body. "Tauren, our parents and Trenton are going overboard with their abuse towards you. This is too much."
I just shook my head as my vision began to blur and the waves of sleep began to crash over me.

Third-Person POV
"He's out like a light," Francis muttered as he and Anissa finished cleaning up the Omega's battered and bruised body. "I don't know if he'll even make it through Eric's birthday in a couple of days."
"That would make my family happy," Anissa snorted sarcastically, rolling her eyes. "But you're right, Deveraux. If your prediction that you made to Eric last week is true, then this pack is really heading downhill."
"All the more reason for me to go ahead and see the gods and goddesses of the supernatural," Francis replied. "I just got the summons earlier before coming here to check in on Tauren. Eric thinks that he's God and shit with his hatred towards Omegas, but he's fooling himself. When he becomes Alpha and orders for Tauren to be killed, it's going to be a nightmare, one that I will not be looking forward to."
"Me neither," Anissa commented, shaking her head. "I'll be defecting when the time comes alongside everyone else who wants out- the elders, those who agree with you and me, all the pups, and those who don't even know what's going on. This pack is doomed."
Francis nodded. "Well, I better go talk with the gods and goddesses and let them know what's going on. Brace yourself, Anissa Knox, for the impending storm. Believe me when I say that the Moon Goddess and Sun God is watching every single move being made."
"That's for sure. Be well, Deveraux."
Francis snapped his fingers and disappeared in his signature deep-blue colored smoke.
Anissa just sat by her brother's side and ran her fingers through his cropped-black hair while tears began to seep from her eyes. "Tauren," she said. "My brother. I can't imagine how strong you are right now. And even though you must fulfill your prophecy with death, I will never forgive this family for their crimes and I won't forget this. Never."
And that was the truth.
Poor Tauren. While he gets beatings, his brother Trenton is treated like a prince!
But still, there's always going to be the one factor when everything that was said in stone would soon come to light! And coming up next, Francis indeed is meeting with the gods and goddesses of the supernatural as they're not too happy with the Red Blade Pack! And the Moon Goddess and Sun God? Child, watch out!
