Tauren's POV
SLAP!
"Pathetic waste of space! I can't wait to become Eric's head Beta so he and I can finally be rid of you," my ever-so-loving twin brother Trenton snarled as he continued to backhand me while I was bound and gagged. "Why do you intoxicate this family of Betas with you being an Omega?!"
I bit back a whimper, not wanting to anger him any more than I already did.
Trenton spat on my face, kicking my sides while my parents came over with whips on hand while my older sister Anissa sadly looked on from the porch.
Oh, sorry for not introducing myself. Bad manners, even though I'm currently being used as a pinata and punching bag by my twin brother and parents. The name's Tauren. Tauren Knox. And in case you're wondering, I am the only Omega werewolf in a family of Betas that are known to be one of the top families here in the Red Blade werewolf pack of Stillwater, Oklahoma.
Unfortunately for me, Omegas aren't being welcomed in this particular pack despite all of Alpha Nicholas Girbaud's efforts to be more accomodating to my kind thanks to the new laws placed by the supernatural council. Sure, there are a remnant in my pack who agree with the new laws on how Omegas should be treated like equal beings, especially the elders. But the rest of them didn't seem to agree- my family in particular since they believed that anyone who was an Omega was deemed bad luck. And with me being the only one in the family, you can pretty much bet that my life was far from charmed.
Ever since I turned four, my life was marked for an early death with my parents starting to beat me for every small thing that was deemed wrong in their eyes. While my twin brother and Anissa got all the love and support, I was treated like trash. And the physical, psychological, and mental abuse didn't stay at home. When the Alpha's son Eric turned twelve and was allowed to become an Alpha for a day, he made it clear that I was to become the pack's runt and punching bag while being denied almost all the rights that everyone else had.
That meant no going to school, no leaving my bedroom (or the attic where it was constantly cold), being allowed only one meal a week, bath every other month, and forever known as the designated punching bag for all the pack members who wanted to relieve their stress on me.
Alpha Nicholas and his wife Emma, alongside their daughter Elisse and my sister Anissa- thank the Goddess for them being the sympathetic ones alongside those who did take pity on me (the pups, elders, a few warriors, and those who didn't care for Eric's so-called rule)- did all they could to make things a little better for me. It was Anissa who taught me to read and write while administering first aid when I was nearly beaten to a pulp (since I didn't have a wolf yet, another downside of being born an Omega; I didn't heal as quickly as the others) and snuck in food from the family meals to make sure that I at least ate well while the current Alpha and Luna made sure that I got some nice clothes to wear at least a few times a year. The pups that Elisse brought over a couple of times made me laugh with a song or a joke while a few elders that came over for a visit also snuck in a few things to made sure that I didn't lack for the little pleasures.
All the same, though, my life was one big joke in the eyes of my parents, brother, Eric, and all thouse who believed that I was nothing more than the thorn in everyone's side.
Anyway, I was almost going under when my parents and twin brother finished their sadistic fun with me. "Take this as a daily lesson on how you're never meant for anything but a future corpse," my father Adam sneered at me while his wife Denise glared me down behind him. "How I wished that your mother and I could've gone against the Alpha and had you killed when you were born. At least we'd be free from your existence."
He landed one more kick to my side as his son and wife whooped in joy before leaving me to bleed while the darkness swallowed me whole.

"Tauren?"
I snapped my eyes open, wincing in pain as I took in the concerned faces of both Elisse and Anissa as I was back in the attic and laying down on the ratty mattress that was my bed. "Hey," I softly grunted.
"Don't make any moves," Elisse warned me as she was wrapping my bruised arms with bandages. "You were out since this morning and it's almost time for the dinner rush. I'm worried that this is going overboard with your brother and parents and everyone else who was on my brother's side beating you like you were a rogue."
"Exactly," my sister commented as she cradled my head in her arms. "And with Trenton's birthday celebrations coming up in a week and Eric's birthday two days afterward, it's going to be a melee of total mayhem. I can't believe this."
"Well, at least when the time comes for me to take my final breath, I'll be grateful to know that I have you girls on my side," I breathed.
"Don't say that," Elisse remarked pleadingly, her eyes full of sadness for me. "Mom and Dad hated that Eric made that rule for his twelfth birthday for you to live like a street rat, but he was crowned Alpha for a day and the werewolf council members had to fulfill it."
Anissa shook her head in anger. "That was a new low for your brother, girl," she spat bitterly, "even for his standards."
To me, "It's going to be okay, Tauren. Nicholas and Emma agree with me and Elisse alongside everyone else on our side when we say that you're going to come out on top when it's all over."
"Annie, you know that's not going to be the case," I replied, my voice thick with sadness. "Eric and Trenton will the next Alpha and Beta next week and I'll be facing an early death. And when that happens, I want to leave this world knowing that I accepted my fate with open arms and a calm heart."
The door swung open to reveal one of the male warriors, a sandy-blonde-haired young man named Grant. "Hey, bro," he said to me, his face ashen with sadness. "Let me guess, your family?"
"Who else?" Anissa replied. "What's the news, Tucker?"
Grant huffed a deep breath. "It's not looking good, Anissa. Eric and your parents and brother are making plans to send you away for the next three days before Trenton's birthday so they can have their fun beating the shit out of your brother."
"They can't do that," Anissa exclaimed. "Why?"
"Because they think that you're being brainwashed by Tauren or something alongside the lines of Tauren's nothing more than a worthless Omega with dark magic sent to enchant everyone into thinking that he's the victim.' Your dad's words, not mine."
"This is going too far," Elisse said, standing to her feet just as Dad came inside. "Sir, you're a failure of a father when it comes to Tauren, all because he's an Omega."
"An Omega who needs to be put down, Miss Girbaud," my father replied, smiling. To Anissa, "It's almost time for dinner, Anissa. Stop taking care of that runt and let your brother, mother, and I do away with him. He's useless, sweetheart."
Anissa growled, her wolf Freya wanting to gouge his eyes out.
"No, sis. Just go," I told her. "It's not worth trying to fight against Dad or the others. I'll be fine."
She nodded, reining her wolf in control as she sat me down gently on the bed. "I'll bring you some food later," she promised me.
"Don't be silly," Dad scoffed. "He doesn't deserve to eat your mother's cooking. That's for you and Trenton alone. Besides, crackers and water will be enough for him." With that, he left the room.
Grant turned to me. "Dude, how the hell do you survive in this place?" he asked.
Easy, folks. By the grace of the Moon Goddess. But even I know that it's not going to last long, not if Eric Girbaud, my parents, Trenton, and their loyal followers have anything to say about it. But it's going to be okay because when my time is up, I'll be free from my miseries.
Well, folks, we've met Tauren Knox and learned a bit about his uncharmed life. At least he has some supporters who wish him the best, including Eric Girbaud's own parents and sisters who think that he's going overboard.
And speaking of the devils, you'll hear from Eric himself as he and Trenton enjoy their days of bloodlust and future plans in the next chapter, so don't miss a beat!
