Dragons

Calypso was immortal. Forever prisoned on Ogygia.

Forever blank.

See, because she is immortal, she never knew immortals got tattoos, because no god had ever had one. They're are too many mortals for then to love.

So Calypso never thought anything of it.

Until she was banished.

Everytime a hero came to her island they'd have tattoos. None of which seemed related to her.

Then one day she got a tiny flame on the small of her back, and because she had no mirrors she never noticed it.

On the back of her neck a metallic dragon's head appeared. No mirror meant no knowledge of this tattoo either.

He was covered in too many tattoos for one lifetime. Most were actually covered in oil that she didn't see that many until he washed himself.

She was angry. She was angry that they sent another hero, she was angry that he was covered with so much not meant for her.

And she was angry about falling in love with him. She knew he'd never feel the same way.

Until she started paying attention to the tattoos. With her heroes she never liked looking at them because they'd be for another person. But one of his began to move.

The day his raft arrived ahe decided to ask him why.

"Leo?" She asked, "why do you're tattoos move?"

"Because my girl is magical," he said plainly.

"You know her?" Her voice faltered.

"Yep," he said, "I just met her actually."

Calypso studied more of his tattoos, feeling even more hopeless, she'd never fallen for a hero so hard.

Then she noticed something familiar. A golden apple. Like the one's from her old garden...

More of the tattoos started making sense, they were from memories that she almost forgot about.

She realized that he was talking about her too late. He had just hopped ok his raft the moment she noticed.

As he sailed away he screamed. "OH AND BY THE WAY, I LOVE THE DRAGON ON YOUR NECK, REMINDS ME OF MY OWN," he smiled and waved goodbye. Then he promised he would return.

He left behind a few pieces of metal.

She saw his dragon on the back of her neck.

She cursed the gods for taking him away from her. She knew he'd never return.

No one ever comes back for poor poor Calypso...
