"Wait!", The ravenette spoke up, cutting the nerve chilling silence.
Everybody turned their head towards the kid who was almost invisible in the entire conversation, until now.
"I am willing to marry her!" The boy announced fisting his hands under the table.
It was a pre-planned marriage. Even without the kids' consent, it was going to happen anyway. But, when Jungkook agreed to it on his own. It sent a sense of relief to his dad's heart. Not for the fact that he agreed to his choice. For the fact that he wouldn't try anything funny to try and break the wedding.
His dad almost forgot about the kid who disrespected him and turned towards Jungkook, placing his hand on the boy's cheek and putting an act of a concerned father.
"You sure, Jungkook", the tears tumbled down through dad's eyes which melted everyone in the hall. Everyone except Jungkook, who knew very well that the man can never cry, even if his own son dies.
Jungkook gritted his teeth and nodded a 'yes' and plastered a smile over his face.
"I am very pleased with your decision, Jungkook. On that occasion, I would like to grant you a wish. Ask for anything you want. I won't question before saying a 'yes. "
This was Jungkook's chance to beg for freedom. To send him to some faraway country. To live unheard. To live in peace.
His dad was expecting him to do the same. Testing his sincerity and backing off at the right moment. But, what Jungkook wished for left, everyone in the room stunned.
He simply pointed at the boy who stood there fixing his earring.
"I want him!" Jungkook announced.
His dad was surprised at the start. But, since it was a very simple wish. He decided not to argue and nodded a 'yes'. Having a personal chef at your house was a must for any elite rich person.
Taking the fact that Jungkook was going to stay in a separate mansion from now on till his marriage and also after that having a personal chef was no big deal.
The senior chef tried to intervene but was cut short and lent out two suitcases full of money. Before Tae could even question, he was pulled into the car by Jungkook after dinner.
The car stopped in front of a huge mansion. The trucks entered the main gate and started unpacking the furniture and other appliances. There were a lot of workers assigned, who were quick and meticulous in their job. So, it would take quite less time to finish the shifting.
Jungkook got off the car and pulled tae out of the car. The silver male looked around him to see everything unfamiliar. He furrowed his eyebrows and looked back at Jungkook who stood in front of him.
"You are my gift. Something that I requested from my dad in return for a very heavy price. You are going to stay with me from now on. Gotit!"
Tae only deciphered bits and pieces of what the male explained. 'A gift', 'dad', 'stay'.
"Why am I here?" Tae scribbled down on the note to show to the boy.
"You are my personal chef from now on!" Jungkook replied by writing down.
Tae wanted to refuse so badly. But, as he looked around, it was only the ravenette standing there with him, meaning he was going to stay 'alone' here.
Tae knows the feeling of staying alone. For some odd reason, he didn't want the ravenette to stay alone and simply flashed a smile in agreement.
A genuine smile that Jungkook missed for all these years.
The packing and cleaning was done and the workers left. The two boys were left in the huge mansion, all alone. They had no clue what was waiting ahead for them.
Might as well bloom a fresh set of feelings in the hearts of two broke people.
________
It was past midnight, Tae shot his eyes open, breathing heavily, clutching the sheets in his hands. The sweat dripped through his forehead as he kept staring at the wall in front of him. He held onto the pendant in his neck, reminding himself it was just a dream. To be specific a nightmare that never left his side.
The same day that kept haunting him for years. That still haunts him no matter what. His mother laying there on the cold tiled floor with no warmth radiating from her. Her cries are still livid in his ears. The only sounds that he can hear, the only painful sobs that he can feel.
The scene was too cruel to be reminded of. The hours he spent holding onto that mummified body screaming for help. It all struck a nauseating sensation in his mouth.
Tae rushed towards the bathroom, twisting and turning to open it. But, the door was freshly built and didn't open even after multiple trials.
He barged out of his room towards the kitchen sink and started to throw up. He felt his insides twist every time the image of his mother's body popped up. Tears filled in eyes as he tried to grip the edges of the sink.
All the bruises that were sealed, opened up again releasing a tremendous amount of pain in Tae's body.
Jungkook was a light sleeper. And the sounds of screaming echoed through the empty walls. He instantly got up and ran towards the door to find the source of the sounds. His feet got stuck to the floor and couldn't move an inch after he saw the elder in the kitchen.
Tae was clutching onto the faucet trying hard to open it as it slipped every time he tried. He looked worn out. But, still struggling to keep himself stable enough to twist that knob and let the water out.
Jungkook rushed towards him, opened the faucet and filled a glass of water from the filter while rubbing his back.
"Are you okay?", Jungkook asked softly though he knew the boy couldn't hear.
Tae's knees gave up. He couldn't hold any longer. The ravenette held the boy before he could fall. He carefully pulled the boy over the counter and placed his arms over his neck and leaned his head over Tae's forehead.
It was the most intimate thing Jungkook ever tried with anyone. But, it wasn't out of lust or desire. It was out of care for the elder to make him feel safe, to make him believe that someone's there for him. Holding him tight so he never falls back.
Tae felt the small gesture so painfully comfortable. It reminded him of Kookie, 'his' Kookie. He wasn't thinking straight. He pushed himself and slammed his lips against the ravenette's soft ones.
Jungkook was shocked at first but melted in seconds into the kiss. He moved his lips in sync with the boy, not caring about the consequences that were waiting for him after this.
He had a fiance whom he had promised to marry.
He had a dad whom he promised to keep his oath.
But, here he was falling for the silver-haired male every second as their lips molded with each other. The ravenette circled his arms around the boy's waist pulling him closer and deepening the kiss.
A kiss that was filled with hunger, warmth and longing for each other's touch. A kiss that tried to heal their broken souls together.
A symbol of a new beginning that is marked by thorns all over.
