A few days had passed since the graduation exam, Tatsu reported to the Ninja Academy to begin her first day as an official ninja. In order to get into the academy today you had to be wearing the leaf village headband. Tatsu tied hers to her forehead with her hair covering most of it except the metal plate with the leaf insignia on it. Everyone from her class managed to pass the exam, surprising Naruto was sitting with them.

"Huh...They made it too easy if Naruto managed to pass," thought Tatsu.

Suddenly Sakura and Ino try to fit through the door. They both squeezed and said simultaneously, "I'm first!"

Both were breathing heavily then Ino said, "I win again Sakura."

"Give it up," said Sakura, "I had to look back to see you. My toe was at least a tenth of an inch ahead."

"Have you always been this delusional?" said Ino.

"Oh brother give it a rest already!" Tatsu said to herself.

Then Sakura looked around the class and spotted someone.

"Hey whoa! Where you going?" said Ino as she watches Sakura run off.

Then Naruto stands up, blushing, as she runs by and said, "Hey Sakura, what's up?"

"Move it!" said Sakura pushing Naruto out of the way.

"Uh, good morning Sasuke," she said blushing at Sasuke.

Sasuke looks towards Sakura unfazed by the incident that had occurred.

"Mind if I sit next to you?"

Ino runs towards Sakura and said, "Back off forehead! I'm sitting next to Sasuke!"

"I was here first," said Sakura.

"I walked into the classroom before you did everyone saw it!" said Ino

"Dream on!" said one girl.

"I got into the classroom before you did!" said another girl.

Soon every girl in the class was fighting over who got to sit next to Sasuke.

"It's the same thing everyday. Sasuke this and Sasuke that! Jeez can't you all swoon over him when I'm not in the room?!"

Tatsu noticed one girl who was not apart of the fan girl group, Hinata Hyuga. She was quiet and very shy. Like Tatsu she kept to herself.

"If things were different maybe we could be friends, but since they are I will do my best to avoid her."

Suddenly Tatsu hears Sakura scream, "Naruto you're finished!"

"What did I miss?" said Tatsu.

Later Iruka stood before us and said, "As of today you are all ninjas. To get here you had to face difficult trials and hardships, but thats nothing. What comes next will be far more difficult. Now you are only genin, first level ninjas. All the genin will be grouped into three man squads. Each squad will be led by a jonin, an elite ninja.

"A three man squad!" thought Tatsu, "I can't be in a team, but I can't not be a ninja. I don't have a choice!"

"We want each squad to have a balance of strength and abilities, so that's how we set them up," continued Iruka, "I will now announce the squads. Squad 7, Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno, and Sasuke Uchiha.

"Well at least I'm not with those three idiots."

Tatsu looks over at Hinata, she seem disappointed about the selection.

"Next Squad 8, Hinata Hyuga."

"Yes..sir," said Hinata.

"Kiba Inuzuka, Shino Aburame, and Tatsu."

"It's already bad enough that I'm forced to be put on a team, but I'm in the same squad as Hinata and Kiba! That's like setting them up to die!"

"Hey hold on wait a sec!" cries Naruto, "How come they get four members on their squad!"

"Because we had an uneven amount of graduates this year and the jonin of Squad 8 is willing to take an extra genin," said Iruka, "Now Squad 10, Ino Yamanaka, Shikamaru Nara, and Choji Akimichi. After lunch, you will meet with your new jonin teachers, until then class dismissed."

Everyone ran out to lunch while Tatsu stayed at her seat in the classroom.

"What am I going to do?" Tatsu said.

"Sssomething...wrong?" said a voice.

Tatsu turns around to find Hinata with two bento boxes.

"Hinata. No, nothing's wrong," said Tatsu, "But why are you carrying two bento boxes?"

"Oh...well...I..I notice that you don't usually eat anything...So..I..I brought you a box," said Hinata.

"For me?"

She nods sitting down next to me, handing me the bento box.

"Thank you."

"I...I..was wondering...I mean if it's...ok to ask...why don't you...smile?"

"Hm?"

"Well...you seem like...the kind of person who...would be happy..that's all."

"I don't smile because I haven't found a reason to," said Tatsu, "Maybe once I find that reason I will smile."

They silently ate their lunch for the rest of the time. Then once lunch was over, jonin after jonin came to pick up their genin. Now there was only Squad 8 and Squad 7 left waiting. The slider door opened and Kurenai Yuhi walked in.

"So, she's a jonin."

"Alright, Squad 8 you're comin with me," said Kurenai as we followed her out of the room.
