Chapter Twenty Six

-♤-

I've started seeing you
in everything my eyes
lay sight on,

whether it is the sun, the
moon, or simply a random
smile,

I find you in every sweet
perfume's scent and every
flower's smell.

I find you in every place
and in everything,

I find you everywhere
except beside me

To His Majesty, Kim Taehyung
The King of Xethen and many others

Today we invite you to celebrate this big day for Elestial. Elestial is crowning the young Crown Prince, Jeon Jeongguk their new king three days from now. Elestial has been in reign of the previous King for the past 38 years, the King has now decided to step down and leave the throne to his oldest son's hands. Therefore, we invite you to the Coronation of Jeon Jeongguk.

The relations between Elestial and Xethen has been on rocks but This is a step ahead from Us, to you. It would be an honor if your majesty would come on this big day. May the Kingdom prosper and Long Live the King.

From The official Royal Court of Elestial
The King Jeon Joohwan.

“Is there anything else you want to add, your majesty?” the writer asked the King who shook his head as a no. Dismissing the writer out of the courtroom. Jeongguk stayed quiet until he heard the door close shut.

Staring at his father who had a smile on his face. Jeongguk never understood his father, the decisions he ends up making always confuses Jeongguk. He wonders if this is his father's way of coping with the fact he won't be a king anymore in just four days. Jeon Joohwan has spent half of his life as King and with no doubt, he has done a spectacular job. One of the most known and powerful Kings in the entire Jeon bloodline. There's not any man who was able to defeat him in his peak.

That's why being his successor comes with great responsibilities and immense pressure as he would be put on a pedestal and the expectations to live up to his father will reach higher peaks too. Jeongguk has worked his entire life for his moment, the sleepless nights and the hours of training are the reason he stands here today, ready to take this step. Even though he hit a dead end earlier this year, being in a slump, flunking in everything for obvious reasons, he got himself up again. He is past what happened and he has decided to never open that chapter again.

But here is his father, who insisted that they invite the new Xethen King. The same man who was ready to kill him a year ago.

“I don't understand why you are inviting him? I thought you didn't want to see him again.” Jeongguk asked his father. He didn't want to open the wounds that had barely healed.

“I didn't but I had a change of mind. You need to see the bigger picture now that you are going to sit on the throne. I don't need to explain my reasons to you.” the King answered, he tried to walk off but was stopped by Jeongguk.

“You need to explain your reasons. He could be a threat and as a future King I should know who is entering our kingdom for what reasons!!”

“And as your present King, I tell you that it's my decision and you need to respect it, I didn't raise you up so you can complain to me. I didn't even want to hold a coronation because you don't even have a bride yet. A coronation without a Queen is ridiculous but I still listened to you.” The king exclaimed and Jeongguk went quiet for a second.

“I had no reason to wait for a Queen that I have no idea when is coming.”

“I showed you many proposals-”

“Of girls that I have never even met, how can you expect me to marry them?” Jeongguk complained to him again and his father raised his eyebrows.

“You also never met Iseul but you still agreed to go and see her and you did agree to marry her in the end too. How was that any different?” He got him there but he doesn't know what Jeongguk went through during that period. oh he has no idea how bad the love ruined him.

“That was so different, we both know that. I don't expect you to understand so I guess I have to let you get your way. If something happens at my coronation, I would not just sit and watch.” Jeongguk declared, for the first time in a while he spoke back to his father. His father gave him a dark glare and he knew it was not going to be a peaceful day.

Jeongguk grabs his towels and walks toward the bathhouse. It is almost midnight and tomorrow is his coronation. The nervousness and the stress is eating his mind alive so he needs to put his mind to rest for a few hours. He needs this desperately.

The guards opened the door for him as he stepped inside. The pools had steam coming out of them, looking the perfect temperature. It was quite humid inside as Jeongguk skin already felt tender but he liked it this way. The hot atmosphere felt so much better than the cold nights outside. He dipped his feet inside, taking the towel off his waist and putting it on the racks near him.

His body went inside, the water engulfing him fully. The water was going everywhere but Jeongguk closed his eyes and stayed under the water for a few seconds. Letting his mind be at ease. Once he was fully wet, he went up to take a deep breath. Swimming towards the edge so he can relax for a bit. His back next to the tiled pool and his hands going over the water on the ground. Letting out a groan as he threw his head back.

It was silent. The only noise was of the owls outside the bathhouse. His eyelids feel heavy so he just closed them. The muscles that were tense like a brick were now loosened up. It was a miracle how much these helped him. Though even this soothing bath wasn't able to let his mind stop drifting off and thinking about…him.

Just like every night, Jeongguk hears it again. The soft noise of his laughter, The gorgeous boxy grin, the way his heart fluttered the second those deep brown eyes looked at him, making it hard to breathe. The imagination runs wild every night and today was a bit special. Instead of Taehyung in his bedroom, Jeongguk could see, could feel Taehyung in the pool with him right now. Those eyes staring at him as if they are stripping him naked.

His insanely gorgeous body, glistening from the water and one light bulb above them. The slight curve around his waist and that one mole near his belly button. Those long hands feeling his own body, going down to his crotch but then the view is blocked by the depth of water. Taehyung swims over to Jeongguk and puts his arms around him as if they are lovers and Jeongguk lets him.

He kisses him all over his face, biting his lip and dragging it a bit to Bury his head in Jeongguk's neck. Just like every night, Jeongguk let's Taehyung touch him anywhere he wants without any restrictions. He lets him touch him in places no one has touched him ever since they spent the night together. Jeongguk has always been weak and defenseless when it comes to Taehyung, even after a year it's like he's over him but then he stands in front of him again and Jeongguk knees go weak. He hates it but he can't resist it, the cycle shall continue.

So Jeongguk never fights it, the delusions go stronger and stronger and soon he realizes how deep of a trouble he is in when he opens up his eyes and sees how rock hard he has gotten. It is a problem, not something the girls from harem could fix or any random person from outside. It's a problem that only goes away when he thinks about Taehyung. The desire, the lust for the man  has completely and undoubtedly ruined Jeongguk.

When the day comes, Jeongguk feels like throwing up. He thought he would have his nerves in control but it is the most stressful day of his life. He has no idea how he is going to pull this off. Any important person one can think of will be here today. The entire Jeon royal family, the royal families from their neighboring big kingdoms, the high officials of the highest courts, Many people who he has never met but today is the day he reveals himself to everyone as the new king of Elestial, the new representative of his kingdom.

Taking deep breaths in and out. He was practicing the oath he had to read, the entire procedure that is going to be done. Dressing a royal blue and golden Hanbok as those are the official colors of the Elestial Flag. With his hair tied up in a bun with front few strands out, he had a headpiece in and many unique jewels around his neck. He was ready, it is time, the guests are probably here too.

“Jeongguk, are you ready- oh your majesty!”  A familiar voice came from the floor that was just opened.

“Jimin, I am going to fuck up this entire coronation.” Jeongguk claims honestly.

“No, you are not. Wow, I need a moment. I saw a painting of your father when I was ten in this same hanbok in the center wing corridor and I always thought that one day I would get to see my best friend wearing the same thing someday and that day is finally here. You were destined for this, Jeongguk. You look so amazing. You have nothing to be scared of.”

“I know but my nerves are killing me, what I'd I disappoint my father and fail my people?”

“That would never happen. In the past few years, you have shown everyone that you are capable of being the next King. You have defeated many kingdoms and were so close to killing the most powerful King of all the time. You have fixed major problems that Elestialians had and are called the heart of the Elestial among locals. There's nothing you can't do, Jeon Jeongguk. You are the first Prince of Elestial, the heir to the throne, the first born son and You live up to all those titles. So go out there and get the one last title you worked for your entire life.”

Jeongguk didn't say anything but ran to Jimin and immediately engulfed him in a hug. Wrapping his arms tightly around his best friend. Jimin hugged him back as the two best friends shared this heartfelt moment.

“Thank you, Jimin. I don't know what I would do without you, you are the reason I haven't gone insane. Thank you.” Jeongguk said to him and Jimin just chuckled. “Yeah, yeah now come on let's go. You have people waiting up on you.”

The Coronation was going to be held in the center of the palace. The center of the Palace was this special hall room which was the biggest in the palace, it was reserved only for the most important of events. The engagements, weddings, Coronation and any other important events in Elestial are all held there.

Though today was a special day. Not only the hall but the entire Palace was decorated. With fresh new roses being placed in every single corner to the blue and gold ribbons around every surrounding. The palace hasn't been this alive in so long, everyone is walking around with the biggest grin of their faces. It's a day of celebration.

More than usual, today everyone has their eyes on him. He walks down the hallway and the servants look at him with such anticipation and admiration. The guards stare with respect. Jeongguk tries to stay calm but it's hard too. He finally reached the hall room doors and waited for the door to open. Everyone is inside and is waiting for him. This is finally his moment. He closes his eyes, takes a deep breath and then looks up, giving a nod to the guard and the door is opened.

His view has changed. The grand Hall room is open. When everyone sees who it is, they clear the path for him. There are many familiar people and many people who he is seeing for the first time. He tries not to make eye contact with anyone. There is a platform at the end of the room where he can see his father and mother, the King and Queen of Elestial waiting for him. His father standing upright with the Crown still on his head, his mother standing right beside him with a proud smile on her face. There was the priest behind them who would lead the Ceremony. He notices Jeongguk and clears his throat.

“The Crown Prince Jeon Jeongguk is here!! Everyone please go to your seats as we are going to start the Coronation ceremony!!” One of the officials announced loudly.

Everyone scatters to their seats and Jeongguk walks down towards the platform. The stares could be felt on his skin, He can't make any mistake today or it would live with him forever. Jeongguk walks up the stairs and goes to the middle of the platform and stands there.

The King and Queen go and sit behind on the two chairs on the platform. The Priest comes closer to him with a golden bowl in his hands that is filled with Holy water. He takes some in his hands and sprinkles it on Jeongguk's face and then some on Jeongguk's clothes.

“May god bless you, my child. You are to be the ruler of this great land. May you start the journey with an open heart with no ill intentions. Your divine self shall be able to give his people what it wants and fulfill your own wishes at the same time. God will be on your side if you put your trust in him. May you prosper and reach new heights as the New leader of Elestial.” The priest said to him. Blessing him for his own good.

Jeongguk just let him spray the water more on him, taking it all. He was then given a towel to wipe off his face. One of the guards got up on the stage with the sceptre in a cushion. “Grab the sceptre child and repeat after me for the oath of allegiance.” Priest said to him as he opened his book up.

Jungkook stared at the gold sceptre with diamond on top and very intricate details on the stick. Taking a deep breath in, he grabbed the sceptre in his hands and faced the crowd. The eyes of the people were burning holes in his skin.

There were so many of them. He could see the court official members standing in the front, on the sides as part of the ceremony, then a bit back there were all the royal families of the neighboring kingdoms, their close family relatives and friends. Rows down are the generals and heads of different departments of Elestial. As you keep going down the rows the lower the class it gets. It was just the way of the world.

Jeongguk couldn't even make it to the last row because his eyes stopped at the second one. Falling onto the black haired man who has been haunting him in his dreams. With those intoxicating eyes staring right at him, Jeongguk felt like his entire world stopped. He knew there was a possibility he might come but Jeongguk was more than sure that he wouldn't come because why would he?  why would he come when there's nothing to come to for.

Though, here he was. Kim Taehyung, the King of Xethen, attended his coronation, his eyes yelling that being proud of him was an understatement. It has been so long, a year to be exact but Jeongguk still remembers every single feature of his. Those beautiful black locks, the narrow eyes, the mole on his nose to his luscious pink lips. He was still as handsome, as beautiful as he remembers. He did look a bit tired, a bit distressed from the wrinkle on the side of his eye.

Jeongguk is a fool. He let himself fall again. Getting distracted by Taehyung came so easy to him that he didn't even notice the priest finished saying the oath and now it was his time to repeat. He did memorize it the entire night so now is his time to show his memorizing skills. He doesn't take his eyes off Taehyung because he realized that his heart beat calmed down after seeing him.

"I, Jeon Jeongguk, do solemnly swear to uphold the sacred duties entrusted to me as the rightful ruler of Elestial. I vow to protect and defend the people, to govern justly, and to honor the traditions and laws of our land." Jeongguk says the first part of the oath confidently. The priest continues.

"Do you pledge to rule with wisdom and compassion, to seek the well-being of your subjects, and to uphold the principles that bind this kingdom together?"

"I do, with unwavering commitment, in the presence of the divine and in accordance with the trust placed upon me by the people."

"Then, by the authority vested in me and the traditions of our ancestors, I declare you, Jeon Jeongguk, the King of Elestial. May your reign be just and prosperous, and may you be guided by the virtues that define a true sovereign.” The priest announces and the crowd burst into claps and cheers for the New King.

His father comes forward and takes off his crown to put on his own son's head. Jeongguk kneels down so he can put it there. The crown feels heavy but it's a weight he is ready to take. His father, for the first time in the entire day, gave him a smile. He put his hands on his son's shoulder. “I am proud of you, my son. All hail your new King!!!” His father announced loudly as he grabbed his hands and threw them up in the air.

The cheers got louder and he saw Taehyung getting up from his seat and clapping loudly. The others followed him for the standing ovation. That wasn't even it. All the court officials stood in the line in front of the platform and kneeled down on their knees to welcome their new King.

It was truly an unreal moment for Jeongguk. He had finally done it. Getting the title he wanted all his life and his life would now change for the better. He had waited too long. Now it is his time to show what he is capable of.

All of the guests were shifted to the grand dining hall where everyone sat for the feast that was prepared. There were assigned round tables for everyone. Jeongguk was the last one to enter the room because he had to meet up with everyone and say thank you like a hundred times as they were all congratulating him. From his mother crying as she hugged him to Hoseok acting like a proud father it was a heartfelt moment for him. He was definitely ready to eat something.

The guards led him to his table only to realize who the people sitting in his table were.  There were about eight people at every table. His table was filled with some people he knew and some he didn't. There was Jimin, which was obvious because Jimin was the uncharged seating arrangement along with his mother going through the list at the last moment. Hoseok was here too, there was the Princess of the North, Was it Sera? He wasn't sure, there was another girl right next to her but Jeongguk wasn't sure. His cousin, Seokjin was also here which he wasn't delighted to see at all.

Then there was Kim Taehyung sitting at the table with his right hand, Min Yoongi next to him. Jeongguk didn't expect to see those two sitting so close to him, Jeongguk's seat was right next to Taehyung. He knows Jimin did this on purpose and he wants to yell at him but he can't. Not today at least. So he sucked it up and just sat in his seat. He saw how Taehyung was just as surprised as him when he took his seat right next to him. He wanted to say something but he didn't.

The food got served almost immediately and they all dug into it. They were glad because the atmosphere in this table was indeed tense. Once the bites started to go down a little finally someone broke the silence.

“Ah I never thought there would be a day where I would be sharing meals with two of the most powerful Kings. I am so lucky to be here.” Hoseok said to both of them. They exchanged glances and looked away.

“All thanks to you, hyung. I have managed to earn this place with the help of you.” Jeongguk responded calmly. Taking a sip of the soup.

“Don't flatter me. Stop calling me hyung, you are the King now, your majesty. I'm too humble to be held in such high honor.” Hoseok said to Jeongguk and he couldn't agree more. Hoseok has always been so humble.

“Hoseok-ah don't say that. You really did play a huge part in his training so you deserve the credit. Congratulations, cousin. With your marital problems, I almost thought I would never see this day.” How cousin Seokjin spoke up and  Jeongguk didn't expect any less from him.

“What can I say? I climbed through many tough challenges besides I don't need to marry someone to get my birth right. Can't say the same about you, can I?” Jeongguk responded back and the table shared a laugh. He got pissed off.

“Yah! Does that mean you would never get married?” Seokjin asked him. There were many heads that perked up at the question, the girls were hearing with a lot of interest and others were just curious. Taehyung specifically just froze mid meal.

“That's a personal question. I don't want to make my guests uncomfortable. Ladies, I hope everything is alright with the meal?” Jeongguk changed the question, focusing on the girls. The other girl was shocked and Sera just nodded. Fluttering her eyelashes.

“Yes, Your majesty. Having a meal with you is an honor itself, everything else isn't important. Congratulations, once again. I apologize for not coming up to Elestial earlier as I can't even remember the last time we saw each other.” The Princess said to him and Jeongguk tried to put a straight face.

“You two are familiar with each other?” Jimin asked him in surprise. Jeongguk was going to answer but Sera was faster.

“Yeah, we are friends. We went to the same training academy in our teens and also met on multiple occasions like this. Though we haven't been able to meet for quite some years now. I mean look at you, Jeon Jeongguk is a King now.”  She put her hands on Jeongguk's arm, sliding it down slowly while maintaining eye contact.

“Who are you, again?” A new voice came into the conversation. Everyone's head turned towards Taehyung who finally spoke up.

“Your majesty, I am Princess Sera, my mother is the sister of the King of one of the northern kingdoms. It's nice to meet you. I have heard a lot about you.” She spoke to him. The way she stared at others was with so much confidence it was quite admirable.

“Not nice things I assume? I do have quite a reputation.” Taehyung responded, he leaned over, so he could be closer to her but instead he was almost over Jeongguk. Jeongguk could smell his perfume, the sweet scent that came from him. Jeongguk stared at how his back was arched, even in the loose hanbok he was wearing you could see the curves.

She chuckled nervously. Not knowing what to say because indeed, the rumors about him have been quite scandalous. It was tense once again.

“Jeongguk!” Jimin took Jeongguk out of his daydreams. Making the King immediately look away from Taehyung. Who smirked at the gesture. “Do you want dessert?” Jimin saved him.

“No, thank you. Say, Sera, have you gotten married yet? My father has been looking for potential suitors for me.” Jeongguk has no idea what he is doing. Maybe he is going off a whim, maybe he wants a reaction out of a certain someone.

“Oh my, are you sending a proposal my way, my prince? Sorry, King. It's just a habit.” She giggled shyly. Jeongguk felt an immediate turn off. While he didn't show it on his face, Taehyung did.

His face scrunched up into disgust. It was genuinely inking him that she called him that. That's..his thing and always has been. Why is she calling him that? Taehyung wants to pull his hair out. It is upsetting him so much that he could feel his stomach churning up. The proposal, the title, the touching, he can't sit here.

He stood up from his seat, abruptly. Yoongi followed his tracks. “I shall leave now. It will be dark soon and I need to start heading back to my kingdom.” Taehyung said before turning around to walk away. Yoongi bowed to the new king and exchanged an apologetic look with Jimin before following Taehyung out.

Jeongguk stared at Taehyung, watching him run away again. He curled his hands in a fist tightly, and could feel his skin being bruised. He is forcing himself to stay seated.

“Go after him.” Jimin says to him. Jeongguk looked up at Jimin in confusion. “What?”

“Go before it's too late.”

Jeongguk doesn't care about anything. Not the Princess he left hanging or the judging stares of the people who saw him running out of the hall. He runs and runs until he reaches his lover.
