Chapter Three
Tank reaches over and grabs one of my hands, and I look over to him. But he's looking out the window. I tilt my head to the side slightly but say nothing, only lacing our fingers, and catch his small smile. Sin nuzzles my head again and I chuckle, leaning to the side slightly to look at him. "Are you going to keep smelling me?" He grins, dipping his head to bury his face in the curve of my neck and inhaling deeply. When he exhales my neck tingles, and my body heats. I shiver, my eyes closing.
Laying my head back I let him do his thing, just enjoying being in the presence of my Clan members. "Hey Princess?" Devi calls back and I open my eyes to meet his in the review mirror. "How have you been?" I blink at the question. Then close my eyes again, laying my head back. "I've been fine." I hear him sigh softly. Tank squeezes my hand. "You never told us you had trouble adjusting to your foster homes."
Now it's my turn to sigh, and I open one eye to look at him. The concern on his face makes me slightly uncomfortable. "We don't, per say." I close my eye. Sin gently rubs my side. "Then what is it?" Tank asks. I stay quiet. They don't need to know. They'll only worry. And Rydel and I are fine. We were built to survive. "Princess." Tank says softly. I ignore him. "Rykel." His voice is low in warning. He hates being ignored. He's no threat to me, but I'm not in the mood to fight him. So I open my eyes and sit up, turning to face him. Sin adjusts his hold, holding my waist with one arm and and playing with my hair with his other.
"It's two things. But it's not because we have trouble with the homes. It's more so they have trouble with us." I pause, and he squeezes my hand. My eyes drift out the window at the city passing by. "Our biggest problem is Hunters. They track us closely. Neither of us can figure out what it is that gives us away. We don't use our powers at all, unless we get into a fight with them. We don't cause too much trouble. We used change our paperwork ever few moves, until we figured out it was useless." I shrug, looking back to him. His jaw is clenched, though his grip on my hand hasn't changed at all. His eyes burn darkly, and I can't help but admire how feirce he looks. He truly grew up to be a man to be reconed with.
"Then there's the fact Del and I train. Every night. Some families don't condone violence, so we had to sneak out at night. We came back with bruises sometimes. And we don't make friends, we don't talk much. And that causes trouble in schools with other kids, so we've gotten detentions a few times. Our grades are perfect though, so I never understand what the problem is." I roll my eyes, and Sin chuckles. "Like really. It's not like we go around killing people. I mean, we do kill the Hunters, but they don't know that." I complain. Sin stiffness, and I turn my head to see shock on his face. "Wait. You've killed Hunters?"
I frown. "I'm more concerned about the fact that they've been tracking you and you two haven't told anyone in the Clan." I turn my frown to Tank. "And what can anyone do to help us? Move us? We already move around. We've been to three continents and over a hundred homes. Protect us? We're all being Hunted. The bigger group of us, the easier to find. We didn't want to lead them to the rest of the Clan as well. Lys agreed to let us handle it. We train continuously. Together we've killed fifteen Hunters. We use it as an oportunity to train with our powers, since we can't any other time."
Sin gives a low whistle. "Fifteen? How many individually?" He nuzzles my jaw. "I've killed eight, Del has killed five, and we've killed two together." He nips the bottom of my ear. "That's hot." I roll my eyes. "You better stop before Prince tears you a new one." Devi says, mirth in his voice. "But I have to agree." I meet his eyes in the review mirror again. He smirks. "That is hot Princess. You must train alot to be able to kill Hunter already." Tank lets go of my hand to throw his arms in the air. "Really? Is that all you two care about? Not that the Prince and Princess could die because Hunters track them everywhere they go?" Davi shrugs, his eyes back on tbe road. We've left the city behind, and it looks like we're heading for mountains. I take a second to apreciate the scenery. "I think you're forgetting who they are. The Prince and Princess are from some of the strongest bloodlines in the world. They're the product political alliances and inner breeding. And they're young, not yet fully into their blood. Yes, it is dangerous. Yes, I am concerned. But there's nothing the rest of us can do. I think that was made clear when they burned our village. The only thing we might be able to do to help is figure out how they're being tracked and stop them."
"Which is pointless." I cut in. "We've questioned some of the Hunters. Our torcher skills aren't exactly the best, but they never talk." Tank sighs, slumping in his seat and looking out the window. I apreciate his concern, I do, but I don't need anyone doing anything reckless. There really is nothing that can be done. "Teddy." I say softly, using my childhood nickname for him. He looks at me nd I lean over to kiss his cheek. "I promise, we're okay. Maybe a little stressed, but we're okay. We're not going anywhere. And we're making plans. So relax, okay?" Sin lets me go so Tank can hug me, squeezing me tightly. I return it, smoothing his hair. When he pulls back the tension has left his body and he gives me a smile. "It's been ages since you called me Teddy." I shrug, leaning back into Sin who winds his arm around me again and goes back to playing with my hair.
"Besides. We're with them now." Davi says. "And there's no use stressing about the past." Sin hums in agreement. I pull my phone out, realising Rydel hasn't messaged me. Then I see I never took it off of Airplane mode. Mentally face palmong I do, and my pgone starts vibrating with my messages. I wince. "What did you mean by you and Del have a plan?" Tank asks. I don't look up from my phone as I answer. "You'll have to wait until we're all together." I send a quick text to Mr. Lys, telling him we landed and are on the way to the school. Then I send a text to Rydel and I's old gym buddies in the group chat, letting them know as well we landed. Then I call Rydel. He picks up first ring.
"You forgot to take your phone off airplane mode, didn't you?" I give a guilty chuckle. "Maybe?" I ask. He laughs once. "I'm sorry." I can practically see him wave his hand in dismissal. Even though I know he was worried. "It's fine. We've been having a pretty intresting conversation." I raise my eyebrows and pull my phone away from my ear to look at it before returning it to my ear. "That's good. I'm glad you're making friends." He chuckles. "Don't worry Princess. You're always going to be my number one." Sin nuzzles my neck. "Is the playboy behaving?" Rydel asks, as if he felt the action himself. Sin smirks against my shoulder. Instead of giving a straight response I say, "Don't worry Princy, you're always going to be my number one." Rydel growls into the phone and I grin.
"Tell that womanizing pretty boy to keep his hands to himself." Sin runs his hand down my arms and thigh. "I can hear you." He says. I take the phone away from my ear and put it on speaker. " Besides, she's already on my lap, and we're driving. It's too late for her to switch seats, she can't get up while the car is moving, and I don't see any stop lights." Rydel growls again, and Sin squuezes my hip. "She's comfortable where she is. Aren't you Princess?" I return his smirk, trying not to laugh. I do enjoy drama. "I am."
"Stop the car. I need to go kill that son of a bitch." I hear Liza laugh and realise he must have us on speaker as well. "Calm down Del. You know he's not gonna do anything. He just wants a reaction." Tank leans closer to the phone. "I don't know about that Liz. He is getting a little personal in here." A louder growl comez through tbe phone. "Stop. The. Car. Rydel, get off of his lap right now." Sin tightens his grip on my waist. "No." I say, patting Sins arm. He relaxes slightly. He really though I was gonna move. "Rykel."
I sigh. He really got upset. "Look. We're almost at the school. He hasn't really done anything bad-" Rydel cuts me off. "Rykel, when are you going to learn the difference between harmless flirting and serious interest? Sin is in love with you. It may be innocent for you, but it's not for him." My mouth drops slightly and the air tenses. It's silent on both ends. My eyes shift to Sin, who avoids my gaze."I...I shouldn't have said that." Rydel says quietly. "I apologise Sin." Sin takes a deep breath and relaxes, meeting my eyes. "It's cool bro. I know you're just trying to protect whats yours." Silence falls again. It darkens as we enter some sort of tunnel.
"Well, we're almost there. Talk to you in a little bit." Rydel says. I lick my lips, my mouth dry as I still try to process what was said. "Yeah." He hangs up and I drop my arm, studying Sin. He smiles softly and nuzzles my head. "Later. Okay?" I nod, wrapping my arms around his neck and burrying my face in his chest. He holds me tighly.
We stay like that until the car stops. I lift my head, looking around. We seem to be surrounded by mountains, and we're in front of tall black gates. I wonder how we not only reached the mountains so fast, but passed them. The other car is stopped in front of us. Slowly the gates open, and we're moving again. This time I keep my eyes on the window. The path twists and turns, going up and down for about four miles before the school comes in sight. My mouth drops open and my eyes widen. "Sweet Mother of Mercy." I breath. I've been transported to Hogwarts. It's a castle. The school is a fucking castle.
I'd like to apologise for my non existant update schedule. Here's something. Word count is 1883 words. Hope you enjoyed.
