(Nogla POV)
I sat down into my office, feeling so tired from everything. People around me having secrets, being corrupted. I was used only to Lui's secret, but more time I spent trying to solve Evan's or Mark's mystery, the more I had a feeling I completely understood how Lui was feeling. Completely confused and lost.
"David?"
I heard Mike's voice behind me, and I turned myself on the chair to face him. I sensed the sadness from him, we all were sad. Greg wasn't acting like himself recently, but he was our boss, our close friend.
"What?" I replied silently.
"Brad is here," he informed me, and I sighed.
Another shite head trying to understand our life here.
Brad Malcom was that guy on higher places. That guy who walked into the room like he owns the place, giving orders and disrespect others. And why? Because he could. He poked me once for being an Irish but Lui stood up for me. From that day Brad hadn't said anything against me, not a single bad word.
"Do I have to go?" I replied annoyed.
"He wants everybody in the room. He wants to tell us something important."
I got up from my chair, following Mike to the audience room. Once I walked in, I saw almost every single person I knew. Even the guys from the lowest floor. I sat down next to Mike.
This better be good to take my precious time. Maybe he wants to say his sorry for Greg.
Within few seconds I sensed motion next to me. I looked to my right and saw Gustavo. He looked tired, devastated. But who wasn't? Greg was part of our family.
"I'm trying to find even a little thing, but unsuccessfully. That guy took out the bullet, he's professional. There are no footprints, no fingerprints, nothing! I don't even know what bullet it was. Guessing from the body position and the place the bullet hit the body..." he started to talk.
It was so weird listening his words like it was a normal case. This is Greg we were talking about, and I already felt bad.
"He was hit by the sniper rifle. I'm really trying to find anything, David, but you guys didn't give me much."
"I know," I replied, when I spotted Brad on the stage.
He walked towards the microphone and cough to get some attention. He didn't have to do that. Our mood wasn't cheerful, nor were we talking loudly.
"Good morning," he started.
"I know, I know, it's a big loss. Greg was one of the greatest people here. He was smart, tough, and he was constantly harassing me to raise your salary. Blah, blah, blah. But he's dead. Your job is to find that fucker who did it, and to complete this task you need new leader."
What? So quickly? Greg hasn't had even a funeral.
"That's some bullshit right here. They should have helped us find that killer, not looking for Greg's replacement," Mike whispered to us.
"They think new leader is going to solve it on its own apparently. If it's Brad, I'm quitting this job," Gustavo replied, and I just smiled.
"Please welcome your new leader, Mark Fischbach."
What?!
My eyes widened as Mark walked towards Brad with a cocky smile on his face. I couldn't believe it. Through the room echoed whispered and surprised talking.
My new partner, assigned to me a few days ago, was now higher then me? Higher then Susie, who has been working here for more then fifty years.
"No fucking way!" I breathed out, still trying to process this.
"Hi. I'm really honored by this, I didn't expect it. I've noticed some mistakes, secrets, and bad behavior during my time as an agent here, so I'll have a word with every single one of you. We have to start working as a team, if we want to catch those fuckers out there."
I don't believe it. How? How could he become the CEO? Him!
"You're all dismissed now. I'll call every single one of you to my office during this day."
And with that he walked off the stage. My co-workers started to walk away. I was just sitting there, staring still at the empty stage.
How the fuck this happened? I haven't vote for him.
"David? Can I talk with you?" I heard Mark's voice next to me.
Oh, so I'm first.
"Sure," I replied, trying to pretend that I'm ok with everything.
Truth to be told I wasn't. I knew something is not right with Mark, he was hiding something, and the fact that he knew Evan just confirmed my theory.
We walked into his new office, and I sit down. He closed the door behind us, then sat against me.
"You're gonna need new partner," he started, and I shrugged.
"Congratulation," I said annoyed.
"I'm not your enemy, David. The only thing I need is your trust, and I know you're capable of it. First things first, I'm suspending you from the City Bank robbery, as well as from Greg's death."
"What?!" I shouted instinctively.
"You're tangled into this too much, it's getting little personal. I'll find suitable partner for you, until then you're taking paid vacation."
"Ya have to be shitting me!" I raised my voice in anger.
"We will find Greg's killer, we will find that fucker who robbed the bank, but not with your help. Now go home, you're dismissed."
"I refuse!"
"Wanna be fired?" He threatened me, and I stood up.
I left his room, slamming his door behind me. Some of the colleagues turned their head curiously to me.
Fucker! Dipshite! I know this has something to do with Evan, I know it.
I arrived home, walked my dogs out and spent most of my evening watching TV. My thoughts were like a crazy returning to Mark and to the case, trying to connect it.
I won't sit down and do nothing!
I grabbed my gun, my jacket and keys from my car. I decided to visit Mark, watch his moves, his intentions. Arriving to his place, which I had visited two times, I turned the engine off. My car wasn't directly near his house, but I had perfect view on it.
This is going to be long night.
After few hours, I spotted something which definitely woke me up. Mark's car parked in front of his house. He got off the car, opening the back door. Within few seconds he pulled out some unconscious, or even dead, body out. I blinked several times, using my binoculars.
Tyler?! What are they doing with him?
Mark threw Tyler's body over his shoulder, disappearing in the house. I got off the car and grabbed my gun. With determination to end all my question, to solve riddles haunting me, I decided to sneak in.
Mark, Evan, Tyler, maybe even Delirious. They have to be connected somehow.
