A Warning in Blood

Twinkle was restless.

She stood near the floor-to-ceiling window of the Malhotra mansion, her arms wrapped around herself. The night outside was eerily quiet, but she felt something was wrong.

A chill crawled up her spine.

It had been two days since her forced marriage to Kunj Malhotra. Two days of suffocating silence. She had barely spoken to him—or any of the brothers except a few moments.

And yet, she could feel them watching her, protecting her.

But from what?

She exhaled sharply. "I need to get out of here," she muttered under her breath.

Then suddenly—

CRACK!

A sound echoed from outside. A twig snapping.Twinkle stiffened.

Her fingers clutched the fabric of her dress as she took a step back. She wanted to believe it was nothing. Maybe a guard on patrol… or just her imagination.

But then—

A shadow moved.

Her breath hitched.

Through the glass, she saw some figures in the dark, creeping toward the mansion, armed.

Her blood turned to ice.

Before she could even think, the door to her room burst open.

Kunal stood there, his jaw clenched. His usual playful smirk was gone and it was replaced by something cold and dangerous.

Kunal-"Bhabhi, stay here." His voice was sharp, leaving no room for argument.

T-"W-What’s happening?" she asked, panic lacing her words.

He didn’t answer. Instead, he pulled out a gun from behind his back.

Twinkle’s breath hitched.

"Kunal—"

"Lock the door." And with that, he was gone.

Twinkle rushed to the window, her pulse hammering in her ears.

Then, all hell broke loose.

Outside the Malhotra Mansion

The night air was thick with tension. Raghav’s men,six of them had infiltrated the outer perimeter.

What they didn’t realize that they had just walked into a death trap.

Kabir Malhotra stood in the center of the driveway, his long coat billowing slightly in the wind. A cigarette dangled from his lips, his fingers wrapped around a sleek, black pistol.

Kunal stood beside him, gripping a knife in one hand, gun in the other.

Kunj walked out last. Unlike his brothers, he carried no visible weapon. He didn’t need to.

One of Raghav’s men stepped forward, holding a rifle. "Hand over the girl," he growled.

Kabir exhaled slowly, letting the smoke drift lazily from his mouth. Then, he smiled. A slow, dangerous smirk.

Kabir-"Funny," he murmured. "You step into my territory and start making demands?"

The man’s grip on the rifle tightened. "Raghav wants her dead."

Kunal chuckled darkly. "Then Raghav should’ve sent more men."

The atmosphere shifted in an instant.

The moment one of the intruders reached for his trigger—

BANG!

A single gunshot rang through the air.

The man collapsed instantly, a hole between his eyes.

Kabir lowered his gun, blowing on the barrel like it was a mere inconvenience. "One down."

Chaos erupted.

The remaining men lunged, but they were no match for the Malhotras.

Kunal was the first to move.

His knife slashed through the air, cutting deep into an attacker’s throat. Blood sprayed, but he didn’t even blink. Before the man’s body hit the ground, Kunal had already shot another between the ribs.

Two down.

A third man aimed at Kabir but Kunj was faster.

He grabbed the attacker’s wrist, twisting it until a sickening crack echoed. The gun dropped, and Kunj didn’t hesitate.

He slammed his fist into the man’s throat, crushing his windpipe.

Three down.

The remaining three men staggered back, horror in their eyes.

Kabir took a step forward, casually reloading his gun. "You have ten seconds to run," he said, voice calm.

One of them turned to flee—

BANG!

"Oops." Kunal smirked, lowering his gun. "Guess I miscounted."

The last two attackers didn’t get a chance to move.

Kunj grabbed one by the collar, slamming his head against the car window until it shattered. The man slumped to the ground, unconscious.

The final man,the one who had spoken first, fell to his knees, trembling.

Kabir crouched in front of him, gripping his jaw. "Go back to Raghav," he murmured. "Tell him this was a warning."

The man nodded frantically, his breath ragged.

Kabir released him with a shove. "Now, run."

And he did—sprinting into the darkness like the devil himself was chasing him.

Kunal sighed, stretching his neck. "That was boring."

Kunj wiped the blood off his knuckles. "Agreed."

Kabir smirked, exhaling another cloud of smoke. "He’ll send more."

"Let him," Kunal muttered. "We’ll kill them too."

Inside the Mansion

Twinkle stood frozen by the window, her eyes wide with horror.

She had seen everything.

The cold precision in which the Malhotra brothers had killed. The blood, the bodies, the ruthlessness.

She wanted to scream, run but her legs wouldn’t move.

Then the door creaked open.

She turned sharply to see Kunj standing there, blood splattered on his white shirt.

His eyes locked onto hers.

For a long moment, neither of them spoke.

Then, in a low, almost dangerous voice, he asked—

K-"Do you understand now why you can’t leave?"

Twinkle felt her throat tighten. She understood.

She wasn’t a prisoner.

She was a target.

And the only thing standing between her and death were the three monsters who had just painted the night red.

The room felt suffocating.

Twinkle’s pulse was erratic, her heart slamming against her ribs as Kunj took a step closer.

Her wide eyes flickered to his bloodstained shirt, then to his bruised knuckles. The way he stood calm, composed, as if he hadn’t just killed men outside—made her stomach churn.

K-"Say something."

His deep, controlled voice sent a shiver down her spine.

Twinkle parted her lips, but nothing came out.

What could she say?

That she was horrified? That the man standing before her—her so-called husband—was a killer? That she had known the Malhotra brothers were dangerous but never imagined the depths of their brutality?

Kunj exhaled sharply. His dark gaze pinned her in place, sharp and unyielding.

K-"You needed to see this."

Twinkle’s breath hitched.

Needed to?

She clenched her fists, forcing herself to speak.
T- "You killed them like they were nothing," she whispered. "Like their lives didn’t matter."

Kunj scoffed, stepping even closer. K-"They didn’t.

Her stomach twisted.
T-"How can you say that?"

Kunj tilted his head, his expression unreadable. "Because they were here to kill you, Twinkle. And in my world, it's kill or be killed."

Her fingers trembled.
T-"Your world?"

He took another step forward, his presence overpowering. Twinkle instinctively backed up until her spine hit the cold wall.

Kunj caged her in, his palms resting on either side of her. His scent,a mix of blood, smoke, and something distinctly him—invaded her senses.

"Yes," he murmured. "My world. The same world you were dragged into the moment you saw what you shouldn’t have."

Her throat tightened. The moment she saw the fight that night at the office.

This is all my fault.

Her breathing grew erratic.
T- "I—I didn’t ask for this!"

Kunj’s jaw clenched.
K-"You think I wanted this?" His voice was low, dangerous. "You think I wanted to marry a girl I barely know just to keep her from being slaughtered like an animal?"

Twinkle flinched. The truth in his words hit her hard.

She had assumed he married her to control her, to punish her. But now—

Was it to protect her?

The realization made her head spin.

Kunj’s fingers grazed her chin, forcing her to look into his intense gaze.

K-"I don’t regret killing them, Twinkle." His voice dropped to a whisper, rough and unapologetic. "And if anyone dares to touch you again, I’ll paint this city red with their blood."

Twinkle’s breath got caught in her throat.

He meant it.

This wasn’t just a threat. It was a promise.

K-"I'm not a hero who saves people, I'm a VILLAIN who can kill anyone to protect what's his."

And for the first time, she wasn’t sure if she was terrified of the men trying to kill her or the monster who swore to protect her.
