Chapter 35: Lust Land.

Three years ago.

Jace's POV.

After I win the race against Kai Saunders, Diego, Blair, Olivia and myself head back to Diego's house. Diego's mum is never home and even when she is home, she barely notices what her son is up to, she's one of those cool mums who will give you love advise while sharing a cigarette.

I wonder how life would be like if she were my mum.

Dead. I'd be dead.

Blair and Diego are arguing about god knows what in the kitchen, Olivia is dozing off next to me while I'm playing mortal Kombat by myself.

"Jace?" Olivia lazily calls beside me.

"Yes?" I keep pressing the controller, eyes glued to the screen.

"Do you think we'll ever argue like that again?" She asks, which makes me tense a little.

"No, not like that, we'll argue but not like that." I answer.

"Promise?" She shifts, a chuckle rambles in my chest and I turn my head to glance at her.

"Yes, Liv, I promise." I show her a reassuring smile, "Why are they arguing anyway?" I shift my attention back to the game.

"Diego flirted with someone at the race, it looked like they were about to kiss or something." She whispers for some reason.

"He probably just wanted to make Blair jealous." I defend.

"Men." She huffs, I look at her over my shoulder with a smile.

I wanna debate against that men comment but that smirk tells me that's exactly what she wants.

She's cute when she's trying to get on my nerves.

"You wanna play?" I nudge her knee with mine.

"No, I don't like video games." She scowls her face at the game, suddenly I'm reminded of Cass and how she beat my ass at every video game we played at her house.

It's been a week since she walked out of Olivia's house and we agreed to stay away from each other. We've managed to do just that but sometimes I find myself feeling tempted to shoot her a text and ask how she's doing or wave at her in the hallways or the classes we share but she shuts me down by walking away or looking elsewhere.

"Hey!" Olivia snaps her fingers infront of my eyes and I blink twice, refocusing my eyes on her face, "Where'd you go?"

"I-" I'm cut off by a loud crashing noise coming from the kitchen, like glass hitting surface.

"Are they throwing stuff at each other?" Olivia giggles, I sigh as Blair trudges out of the kitchen, heading towards the door.

"You're overreacting, Blair, I didn't even touch that girl." Diego follows behind her like a lost puppy.

"You didn't have to touch her for my eyes to see that you wanted to fuck her." She says in an obvious tone.

"We were just talking!" He shouts.

"Talking and smiling and looking at her like she was hot." She turns around to look at him.

"She was not hot." Olivia adds beside me, they both look our way.

"Exactly." Blair points at Olivia in appreciation.

"Okay so what? You wanna break up with me because I had a conversation with someone?" He asks her.

"I mean.... how would you feel if I.... did that with Jace?" She stutters, clearly not knowing what she wants.

"Nothing, Jace is my friend, he'd never cross that line and neither would I." He says truthfully, I nod my head in agreement.

"Olivia, on the other hand, Olivia would kill you." Olivia says to Blair, raising her hand in the air.

"Babe, you're not helping." I shake my head at her, grinning, she mouths back an apology and bites down her laugh.

"See? Olivia would kill me because she wouldn't like seeing me being like that with her man!"

"I'm officially tired of this conversation, what do you want from me?" Diego's shoulders slump and he looks tired and defeated.

"Nothing." She says softly then she walks out on him.

It kinda leaves the rest of us baffled and confused.

"Dude, did she just dump your ass?" I raise my eyebrows at him.

"No?" He's not sure.

"Well don't just stand there, run after her or something!" Olivia exclaims, Diego groans before running after Blair, which leaves me and Olivia all to our lonesome.

Everytime Olivia and I are alone in a room, I think about sex, she thinks about sex too and sometimes, she kisses me wild enough to get me hard and ready and tries to tear my clothes off but then I always remember how I broke her virginity in the most animalistic way and let's just say it's quite the biggest turn off.

But, overall, it's still fucking hard.

The girl is beautiful and she's mine and she clearly wants me in every way and I'm just a fucking pussy for not getting over that night yet.

I hear my phone buzzing on the table but I don't have to look to know who it is.

"My mom is so annoying sometimes." I complain.

"You should go, she's worried." She scoots closer to me and starts stroking my jaw like I have a beard.

"I'm not leaving you in here." Our eyes meet glancingly, dancing together.

"Why? I hang out with Diego all the time." She points out, her eyes dropping to what her fingers are doing to my chin.

"I'm not saying I don't trust Diego, I'm just saying I don't trust my own shadow." I shrug, leaning in to teasingly nip on her bottom lip.

"That is so fake friend of you." She breaths out, pulling her bottom lip between her teeth, tasting my bite.

God, oh, God.

"The way I'd fuck this pretty mouth of yours." My thumb caresses her perfect red lips..

Parted, trembling, soft, drawing in steady breaths.

She darts out her tongue and licks the length of my thumb, her eyes never leaving mine.

"Fuck." I watch her in complete admiration.

I feel like kissing her but I know I won't be able to stop and I don't exactly want to fuck my girlfriend in my best friend's living room.

I let out a frustrated groan, snapping myself out of lust land just long enough to get her to her door step.

"Okay, fine, you win, sex on the floor it is." I help her up, grabbing my phone from the table and leading her out of the house.

As soon as we step outside, she looks up at the sky in awe, gasping at literally nothing.

"Jace." She steps down the stairs, still looking up.

"Olivia, no, I'm extremely hard right now, you can't seriously turn me down for an ordinary night." I whine, she lays down on the grass, laughing at my comment.

"Don't be such a drama queen, we have all the time in the world to do whatever we want for the rest of our lives." She says.

The rest of our lives.

It sounds like she's really looked into the future and she liked what she saw.

I definitely haven't.

"That's not guaranteed, one of us could die in our sleep tonight." I say lazily.

"Oh, c'mon, two minutes." She pleads, and with no argument, I trudge down the steps and I join her on the ground, staring at the stars and trying to see whatever the hell she sees.

"My Sunday school teacher once said that space was probably the last thing God created, right after he destroyed the wall of Jericho. After that, I've never looked at the sky and thought about space, all I think about is heaven right behind those stars." She tells me.

"You're such a child." I laugh at her, she slaps my shoulder.

"When are your parents coming back?" I blurt out, her smile disappears and she stares up at the sky.

"Probably never." She says it as though it were a joke.

"What do you mean?"

"They're both dedicated to work, they don't have time for stuff like family." She says.

"Do they visit you, at least?"

"Randomly, yeah." She looks at me.

"Do you have a good relationship with both of them?" I question.

"Dad and I talk every day and I talk to mom once a week because she's the busiest one so yeah, my relationship with them is okay." She puts on a faint smile.

"Are they still together?"

"No, they divorced because of work but every time they are in a room together, you can tell that they still have feelings for each other." She laughs at a memory, I kiss her forehead then look up at the stars.

I don't see it, I don't see heaven, just a purple sky sprinkled with stars.

"What are you guys doing?" Asks Diego as he walks up to his doorstep.

"Stargazing." Answers Olivia.

"Weirdos." He scoffs, bitterly, which tells us that Blair most definitely dumped his ass.

Sucks for him.

"Hey, Liv? How do you feel about an indoor date?" I ask her.

"I'd love to go on an indoor date with you, Jace, whatever that is." She sarcastically rolls her eyes at the last part.
