Wild Power Pearls and their young
Wild Power Pearls are Power Pearls who live in the Wilds of Tan Diamonds planet. These Power Pearls are unusual in that they raise gemlings unlike those made by Tan herself. Tan's Power Pearls can make gemlings, but as their not from the wild it's a tricky try at best. These Power Pearls are still Power Pearls, their just born and raised in the wild and not machine-made. They can speak, but naturally just chirp among themselves to communicate. None of them have any marks showing who they belong to, but they all seem to have an inner knowledge that Tans HQ is the only 'safe' place when they need to hide away for a temporary rest. They eat berries,minerals..And probably more. Their highly territorial. They also possess a charge, but it's weaker than those made by Tan. These Power Pearls also go by wing classification:
Two-wing: Common wild ones. Their only difference from Tan's two-wings is that their gem is anywhere on their body as opposed to just their neck. They generally also have claws for defense and sometimes have a tail. They fare poorly if they lose a wing while young, but their parents won't leave them. Gemlings are pretty easy to find. Corrupt ones don't have wings on their hands and possess sharper claws. Corrupt ones are unpredictable, but for some reason they will follow outsiders home??? So there is a small chance asking Tan for a power pearl might end with a wild corrupt one that followed you home.
Four-wing: Uncommon wild ones. Like two-wings their gem varies in location. These are uncommon, and generally have a rough start in their life. They usually only possess claws on their front wings, leaving the back wings plain. If they lose a wing while young, their parents will abandon them. Thankfully, these gemlings may gain temporary protection by other lost ones when injured. Corrupt ones lack hand wings as all their wings are on back. Corrupt ones have more claws as well and are generally a small hazard to be around.
Six-wing: Extremely rare. Their so rare little is known of their wild counterparts. But it seems their usually vicious, destructive, and can reign control over an entire region by brute force. It's common to assume their all corrupt, as seeing them while traveling is a mere myth. Gemlings of these rarely survive in the Wilds long enough to grow up. Their scarce, and sometimes considered a legend.
Wild Power Pearls wing count goes by their parents. As a result, their gemlings usually also have wings based on who they came from. While its difficult to study thanks to angry momma birds, the gist of it is as follows:
Two-wing: Parents were two-wings; Parents were four-wings.
Four-wing: Parents were two-wings; Rare for four-wing parents
Six-wing: Extremely rare chance from any pair of two-wing and four-wing
The Wilds of Tans planet is also home to many abandoned gemling power pearls who were either defective or were badly injured. Visitors who wish to save one of these lost gemlings must brave the Wilds and retrieve one. These are usually frightened, old enough to have feathers, and may attack out of fear and defense. The general count is that their mostly either two-wing and four-wing.
Tan warns the Wilds are a very dangerous land.
Newborns are colorless and featherless. Their roughly about as big as baby birds though their eyes are pretty functional. Determining their wing count is simple as looking for the stubby useless wing nubs. They'll either have a branching part for their hands or a set on their back. Ones that carry corruption only have wings on their back, and none on their hands. Otherwise the typical wing placement is on their hand. Four-wing have an extra wing set on their back and six-wings normally have four on back. You'll also see some gemlings possess sharp claws for defense, though it seems to be varying on who may have it. While newborns, it's key to make sure their kept safe and out of harms way. Power Pearls may hide their young within their own feathers until their old enough to defend themselves on their own. They may also wrap their young within their wings to soothe them, and their own will also do it since that's what their parents did. Raising newborn power pearls otherwise is the same as other types to an extent. Some newborns show their walking preference by stance. Some may be upright while others walks on all fours. Common sounds are chirps. Horns seen are small and not sharp enough to hurt
After a few weeks pass, gemling power pearls gain white fluff. As they get older they lose their colorless fluff and their gem begans gaining it's true color as their new feathers start to come in. These new feathers show a power pearls true colors, though mountain power pearls remain somewhat colorless regardless. At this age they can somewhat walk around but only barely and just enough to establish what's easier. Those with claws lose their baby ones and sharper ones replace them. At this point they start to show their preference for berries, mostly ones high in juice. Since Tan's Power Pearls recharge freely, gemling power pearls can only recharge by sleep or eating. They can also be louder in their chirps and some might make a trilling noise. Wings are now covered in feathers, but not quite enough to fly with. Horns are bigger, and somewhat hard and useful to hit things with.
Within months, gemling power pearls began to grow to their full size and may began showing new markings or different traits. Their wings grow as well, and by than most can start to fly and may leave their parents to start a new life somewhere else. They can speak, but choose to chirp or trill to communicate. Now older, they can somewhat charge their gems up on their own but find it faster to do so by eating and sleeping. Some may stay with their parents, or get chased off by their parents. Those with horns are now formidable foes, and can use them for defense. It's unknown if these horns are the result of a forgotten cross-breeding or a trait acquired through adaptation. Either way, they don't seem to care about it.
Abandoned gemlings power pearls are usually those who either are badly injured, flawed, or got separated from their parents.
