~Two Days Later~
Sans quickly ushers me to bed after a long day of shopping, insisting that I rest (though I understand his reasoning). I smirk and agree to sleep as my bubbly friend bids me a quick, "GOODNIGHT, Y/N!" and closes my door, encasing me in darkness. After a moment of silent waiting, I giggle in excitement as I hear the sound of footsteps on carpet. Soft, muffled voices exchange unintelligible words below me. I feel like a kid again... I giggle silently.
I slowly slip the covers off of my body and gently step down from my mattress, careful not to make a sound. The fuzzy carpet feels good on my bare feet as I drop to all fours and quietly creep towards the door of my room. I briefly rise to my knees to open my door. It creaks in the slightest, causing me to flinch and hope that Sans didn't hear the obvious noise I made. Dropping down to my hands and knees once again, I quickly move across the hallway and down to the edge of the stairs, hiding behind the potted plant like when I first met the Star Sanses. Peeking out from my hiding space, I try to repress a giggle as I see my best friend with his teammates.
"So, what shall we do?" Dream asks softly, a worried expression on his face. "Error and Nightmare... Unstoppable together, no matter what we try!"
"Well, first step is to keep Y/N out of this, they do not need to be worrying about this stuff, I don't want them hurt." I hear Papyrus grumble sternly.
A spark of annoyance builds inside me at this remark. "I'm not weak, I can protect myself..." I mumble angrily under my breath.
"They aren't safe anywhere, really. Error and Nightmare could find them at any time!" Sans whimpers, worry in his eyes.
I furrow my brows and crawl back into my room, gently closing my door and flopping down on my bed. "I'm seventeen!" I growl angrily. "I can take care of myself."
"W-Wanna tes-st th-a-at the-ory?" A glitchy, broken voice queries, causing me to fall from my bed with a shout. Pain rushes through my body for a moment as I hit my bedroom floor. Frantically, I look around my room for the entity that emitted the sound, eventually standing up on two shaky legs and flicking my lightswitch upwards. Light floods into my bedroom, revealing the former secrets of the darkness. Nothing stands in the general vicinity of my room, bringing me more fear than comfort.
I hug myself and walk back over to my bed, looking around for anything that could be hiding. Cautiously sitting on my bed, I let out a shaky sigh of slight relief. When I open my eyes once more, I am met with a horrifying sight of a skeletal face, much like Sans', with an ashy-black skull and crazy, multi-colored eyes. Three dark blue stripes flood down his glitched face like tears, and pieces of his body float in the air around him. A grin is plastered to his skull.
"Boo."
Letting out a blood-curdling scream, I rush past the figure and fling my door open, dashing down the hallway. My entire body slams into Papyrus, who looks down at me with concerned eyes. Ink, Dream, and Sans follow close behind the lazy skeleton.
"Y/N?!" Ink asks worriedly. "What's wrong?!" I sob and wrap my arms around the painter before pointing towards my room with a shaking hand.
"S-Someone's in there!" I stutter, terrified.
Ink wraps his arms around me comfortingly, looking with confusion at my room beyond. Sans draws a sharpened bone for a weapon, and Dream summons a golden staff.
"Stay here with Papyrus, okay?" Ink asks softly, to which I nod and hide behind the taller skeleton. Ink takes the paintbrush from his back and calls out, "Who's there?!" In a loud tone.
"Nobody in particular~!" The glitched voice hums to my left. We all look towards the railing of the stairs, and I scream once more as I see the glitchy skeleton leaning on the rails a few feet away.
"It's the thing!" I yell, backing away.
"How offensive!" The glitch gasps in fake surprise, placing a hand to his chest. "I'm not a 'thing', I'm a messenger!"
"Error!" Ink shouts angrily, brandishing his paintbrush. "I should've known it was you! What are you doing here?!"
"I'm on a mission!" The skeleton ("Error", apparently) grins triumphantly. "Nightmare sent me, though I'm curious as to where ya got that." He grimaces, pointing at me. I shrink behind Papyrus again as he stares at me with malice.
"They're none of your concern, Error," Ink says sternly. "They're innocent in all of this. If you don't leave, I'll be obligated to hurt you." His left eye flickers from a deep red color to a light orange.
"I'-I'm only curi-ous-ous!" Error protests, holding out his hand. Blue strings emerge from his fingertips and tie around my wrist, pulling me close to him. "I mean, look at-t thi-s thi-ng! It's one of the worst abominations I've ever seen!" The comment brings tears to my eyes; I avert my gaze to the floor.
"Let them go!" Sans protests, becoming angry.
"S-Shut-t it, #1087!" Error snaps, his voice breaking even more. "You don't want to go back to the anti-void, d-do you?!"
Sans shrinks back a small bit. Ink, however, slashes his brush at Error, cutting the strings around my wrist and setting me free. I stumble away from the glitched skeleton and hide behind the painter once more. I whimper in fear and clutch Ink close to me like he could dissapear at any moment.
Error growls and lunges towards us, to which Ink calmly responds to with a simple slash of paint across Error's chest. "Dream, Blue, Now!" He shouts, snapping his fingers. The paint morphs into a length of chain, stopping Error in his tracks. Sans pushes Error down and kicks him backwards. He looks at us with anger.
"Leave us alone!" Dream yells, pointing his staff at Error. "And tell my brother that this universe and all of the rest...a ARE. DEFENDED!!"
"This won't ever be over! I'll be back... And I won't be leaving without that human!"
With that, Error teleports away.
