"What should I do today...?" You thought to yourself.
You had already explored your cottage a bit the previous night, but you weren't really in the mood to explore it more. Despite the circumstances you were in, you were on a gorgeous island, and the outside atmosphere looked amazing.
"...I might hang out with Kazuichi, that could be fun." You thought, as you took a small bag from the drawer of your desk and took some of the piercing materials you had. Honestly. it had become a weird habit of yours, you don't know when, or how, it started, but you did it whenever you left your old house. It never really died.
Closing your cottage door behind you, you went on your search for the pink haired mechanic. Luckily, it didn't take long, as you saw him making his way to the beach.
"Kazuichi!" You called out for him, startling him again, before he turned around and calmed himself down when he realized it was only you.
"Did I scare you again? Sorry..." You apologized sheepishly.
"Oh, don't worry about it! Whad'ya need?" He asked you.
"Oh, I just wanted to see if you wanted to pass some time together? I mean, I get if you don't want to or if you're already busy, but I just wanted to see if you wanted to-" You kept rambling.
"S-Sure! I-I'd love to spend time with you Miss (F/N)!" Kazuichi beamed.
"Oh! Great! Do you feel like doing anything?" You asked him.
"I mean, I was gonna take a walk on the beach, so I guess we could do that...?" He suggested, making you nod in agreement.
"Well then, what are we waiting for?" You smiled as you began walking, him catching up closely behind you.
The start of the walk was mostly silent, aside from the crashing waves. The scenery was gorgeous, after all, this was a tropical island. You looked back at Kazuichi, only to seem him looking down. You saw that he was picking at his fingers, which you knew to be a common sign of anxiety or fidgeting.
"Hey...you okay?" You carefully ask Kazuichi, making him look at you, confused, before you gesture to his hands.
"Oh...yeah. I-I'm okay. I usually fidget with random things a lot... I do it a lot of the time without realizing it, especially when I don't have a machine to tinker with... I-I guess I'm also kinda nervous." He admitted.
"Oh-" You mumbled. "Everything is still stressful, huh?" You asked, making him give a noise of affirmation. "I get it, I get it, especially after what we discussed this morning. There are a lot of things that still haven't been answered, and it's just all vague...it sucks."
"Yeah...we don't know how we got here, or who's doing this to us... Who would do this to us in the first place!? Th-They're really bad people!" Kazuichi exclaimed
"Well, Byakuya explained how it had to be a big organization... And the only ones that are currently suspect of it are Sonia's kingdom, Byakuya's Corporation, Fuyuhiko's Clan, and, well, my company." You sighed, before remembering something you wanted to ask the mechanic. "Speaking of which, Kazuichi?" You started, "Why did you defend me so hard against Byakuya...? I mean, I-I really appreciated it and everything, but it was like you were so sure it's not me who's the one behind all of this... I-I mean, I'm not! But still..." You almost began rambling again, but you stopped yourself.
Kazuichi seemed to be silent, or maybe in thought. "...I-I just know it's not you... It's like, a kinda gut thing?? B-But, I just know that you wouldn't do something to any of us, even though none of us really know each other all that well- I-I just know you wouldn't do something like this..." He finished, looking down, slight embarrassment etched onto his face.
You giggled in content, feeling happy that Kazuichi really thought this about you. It was as if he had already taken the risk to actually trust you, in a span of not that long when you last talked.
"Thanks, Kazuichi, it means a lot to me, really." You smiled at him, making him smile in response.
"No worries, Miss (F/N)! I-I hope you know you can trust me, too..." He said.
"Don't worry... I have a good feeling about you too, but, I think I should get going now." You said, noticing that you two had been walking for a while. "But, Kazuichi, before I go... Can I look at your hands?"
His eyes widened, before a pink hue took place on his cheeks. "I-I-I mean, yeah sure! But why-" He tried asking, before you had already taken one of his hands in yours. One of them was grasping his wrist, while the other was ghosting over his palm and fingers.
You looked at his fingers, since he said he had a habit of picking at them. You had been prone to doing it yourself, and quite often. Sometimes, it had gotten to the point where you had potentially picked off all the top skin of your fingertip, making it hard to work. Observing his hands, they looked rough and calloused, most likely from his work as a mechanic. Along his fingers, he had a few picks of skin, from the fidgeting. There were quite a few of them.
"You should try and refrain yourself from picking too much..." You told him, slightly running over your fingers over his own. "If you do it too much you could hurt minorly hurt yourself. Try and find another outlet for fidgeting. I don't want you to hurt yourself." You smiled, while he had a blank, flustered look on his face.
"Y-You got it, Miss (F/N)! I don't wanna worry you too much." He beamed.
"Alright, Kazuichi. I should get going now... I'll talk to you later, 'kay?" You smiled, him nodding, "Bye for now!"
You walked off, looking around to see if you could find another person to hang out with. Despite the fact that people would most likely be suspicious of you due to Byakuya's previous words, you hoped to find someone who would spend time with you, regardless.
Near the entrance of the hotel, you saw Hajime. You smiled to yourself, hoping that he wouldn't mind spending time with you.
"Hey, Hajime!" You called out to him, making him face you. "Wanna spend some time together?"
"O-Oh, su-" "HEY!!" A loud, slightly high pitched voice interrupted Hajime as he was speaking, making you both jump. You looked behind you, and saw none other than Hiyoko making her way to you and Hajime.
"I'm gonna hang out with Big Sis (F/N) now!" She said, grabbing your arm, while Hajime voiced out confusion. "Ugh, you're so stupid! I saw her hanging out with the pink haired loser earlier, but I wanted to hang out with her! I'm not letting her spend her time with an idiot like you!"
You looked down at the small girl, who was puffing her cheeks at the male. You smiled down at her.
"I don't mind hanging out with you, Hiyoko...!" You stated, making Hiyoko beam.
"YAAYY! Let's go, Big Sis (F/N)! I don't wanna be around this loser any longer!" Hiyoko huffed, pulling your arm while you mouthed a small apology to Hajime. After a few seconds of being pulled along by Hiyoko, you looked to the tiny girl.
"So Hiyoko... where to you want to go?" You asked her, making her hum in thought.
"Hmm... I wanna go to your cabin! I wanna see what you do!" She said, advancing towards the cottage with the pixilated you on it. You went up to the door and opened it, letting Hiyoko inside. She looked around your room before her eyes lit up once she saw your desk.
"Wow! You have so many needles Big Sis (F/N)!" She expressed, walking towards your desk, trying to pick one of the needles up. "Do they hurt?" She asked, turning towards you with the needles in her hand. You walked over to her, taking one of the needles.
"To me, no, not really. It usually depends on the persons pain tolerance, and where they're getting pierced. I have a pretty high pain tolerance, though. The amount of needles I've stuck through my body and the amount of times I've printed ink onto my skin is proof of that." You chuckled, while Hiyoko looked at you in admiration.
"I can't imagine how fun it'd be to poke needles in people all day! I bet it's sooo satisfying when the squirm in pain, too!" Hiyoko commented, making you slightly sweatdrop.
"I-I mean sometimes people can underestimate how much it can hurt sometimes... But as long as they like it in the end, it's worth it for them...!" You told her, as she searched through your case of ink colors.
"Everything is so pretty... Your job is so cool, Big Sis (F/N)!" Hiyoko praised you, sitting on your desk chair to inspect everything on your desk in more detail.
"Yeah, I really enjoy it." You said, before noticing that she was looking at all the spare piercings Monokuma had given you. You had a habit of leaving things on your desks, or workspace areas. Hiyoko was picking a few of them and looking at them closely. You got closer to where Hiyoko was sitting, before leaning down slightly.
"...Do you want me to give you one...?" You asked, making the tiny dancer slump down slightly.
"I don't think I'd be allowed to..." Hiyoko replied.
"...Do you want to give me one?" You asked her again, making her mood shift dramatically.
"Really, Big Sis (F/N)? Can I really!?" She asked, enthusiastically.
"Yeah, of course! I have a bunch of them, anyway, and I was planning on giving myself more, regardless. So, why not?" You smiled, making her smile in response.
"YAAYY!! Thank you Big Sis (F/N)! I love you!" Hiyoko beamed, shocking you.
"Thanks, Hiyoko... Let's get everything ready for me, 'mkay?" You said, making her nod rapidly. You took out all of the current piercings that were in your ear to make it easier for her, then taking out a cotton ball and rubbing alcohol, you cleaned your ears from any bacteria. Pulling out a small, black marker you had found in your desk, you handed it to Hiyoko.
"Do you see where I had my second piercing?" You asked, as she nodded in response. "I want you to make a small black dot a little bit above where that hole is, okay?" Hiyoko got closer to your ear, her face etched with concentration as she put a small black dot above your second lobe piercing. You inspected the dot she made in the mirror, smiling at her in content. "Great! Now, can you do the same on the other side?" You asked again, as she complied.
"You're doing great, Hiyoko." You told her, as you grabbed two small studs from off your desk, along with the needle you were planning to use. After setting those to the side, you got a package of gloves out from your desk. "Can you go wash your hands?" You asked, as she nodded and went to your bathroom. Hearing the running water, you pulled your hair back, and took out a match, getting ready to light a candle.
"Okay, Hiyoko, put on these gloves for me." You said. Even though you saw the apprehension on her face, you explained. "If you don't, there's a possibility I could get infected." Once you said that, she came forward with her hands as you put the gloves on her. "I know it feels uncomfortable, but it'll be okay, I promise." You smiled, before picking up the needle, and the candle you had lit.
"Now, hold this needle for me, and put the edge over the fire." You told her, as she complied. After the both of you waited, you noticed the edge getting red. At that point, you instructed Hiyoko to take it out of the fire, making sure she was careful not to touch it. As she took it out of the fire, you covered the candle, put it on your desk before grabbing a small block and putting it behind your ear.
"You ready, Hiyoko?" You asked, as she smiled proudly with a nod. You bent down, and she got closer to you, holding the needle perpendicular to the mark she had made. "I'm going to count down from three. When I'm done, I want you to push the needle, okay?" You instructed, her nodding in understanding.
"Three... Two... One." You felt the needle go through the skin of your ear. "Great job...! Can you wiggle the needle a little bit? Make sure you don't push it all the way through." Hiyoko complied, before you handed her one of the studs.
"Do you see the small opening at the top of the needle?" You asked her, feeling her nod. "Take the stud and stick it through the top. When you do that, push the needle all the way through, but keep the piercing in place."
Hiyoko did as you asked, while you completely secured the stud. After you did, you inspected it in the mirror, and it looked great, nothing seemed to have went wrong.
"See? You did great Hiyoko!" You praised, as she gave you a big smile.
"Thanks Big Sis (F/N)! This was so much fun!" Hiyoko beamed, while you chuckled.
"We aren't done yet, remember? You still have the other side to do." You reminded the tiny dancer, making her light up once again.
"Yaaayy!" She exclaimed, making you laugh as you got another needle.
"Ready again?" You asked, as she nodded rapidly.
~~
Hiyoko had left your cottage after piercing your other ear, in hope's of finding a sweet snack. She had asked you to come with her, but you declined, much to her displeasure. Regardless, she left, but not before engulfing you in a hug for the fun time she had piercing your ears.
After searching your cottage a little more, you hear the familiar sound of a schoolbell, and then the sound of static. You looked up at the monitor in your room, finding Monokuma seated the exact same way he did the previous night.
"Ahem! Hope's Peak Academy's School Trip Executive Committee has an announcement to make..." Monokuma started. "Hello everyone! The fun time you've all been waiting for is about to begin! I wonder what festivities await you? ...Oops, don't wanna ruin the surprise! It was a little 'meh' at first, but anyway, please gather at Jabberwock Park!"
At that, the monitor turned off.
"The park, huh? I guess I have to go... we aren't really allowed to defy him, and I don't wanna end up like Monomi did..." You thought, as you up and left your cabin. It was quite literally, the middle of the night. The night air was crisp and nipping at your exposed skin. "What the hell kind of surprise does he have planned for us in the middle of the night?"
—
There were a few others who were already at Jabberwock Park when you arived, and they all stood there in silence. In the front of the bomb, there was a makeshift stage that looked...oddly official.
"Hey...Mahiru." You got the attention of the red haired photographer. "Do you know what this is?"
"No, not really. It was already set up when I came here... I wonder what that dumb bear has planned for us now." She pondered.
"Yeah, seriously... What does he need to call us in the literal middle of the night?" You muttered, making Mahiru scoff.
"Yeah, I know! Seriously, it must have been important if it couldn't wait until morning... But at the same time, Monokuma is really annoying." Mahiru responded, making you chuckle.
"You got that right..." You said, as more and more started arriving at the park, the last being Hajime.
"Once again, Hajime, you're late... Did you lose your nerve?" Byakuya interrogated at Hajime, while the latter stayed silent. "...Anyway, it seems everyone is here."
"Ugh, what is it this time...? So friggin' annoying..." Kazuichi complained.
"Then you shouldn't have come." Fuyuhiko stated.
"Well...I mean...I don't know what'll happen to me if I don't come..." Kazuichi muttered.
"Heh, since none of us know what'll happen, maybe you should be the one to test that out." Fuyuhiko sneered.
"Ya'know, you shouldn't be talking. You wouldn't be here unless you were scared of what would happen to you, either. Keep your mouth shut, doll." You retaliated at the yakuza, making him turn red.
"What...!?" Fuyuhiko raged, as he clenched his fist. "A-And stop calling me doll!"
"It seems as if the big bad yakuza is scared of that monster too, huh?" Mahiru commented.
"What the fuck did you say!?" Fuyuhiko yelled.
"S-Stop it, all of you. Fighting among friends isn't good!" Nagito butted in. You, Mahiru, and Fuyuhiko were silent for a few seconds, before a scoff came from Fuyuhiko.
"What? Did you just say, 'friend'?" Fuyuhiko asked Nagito. "I'm not your friend, dumbass! When did I ever become friends with you bastards?"
"Eh?" Hajime voiced.
"Hmph, let me be perfectly clear..." Fuyuhiko started, looking down at the floor, before uttering five horrifying words.
"...I can do it, y'know." Fuyuhiko stated, clearly.
"Huh?" Teruteru said, eyes widening.
"Y-You... What did you say...?" Mahiru stuttered.
"Oh? You didn't hear me? Then I'll repeat myself just once for you." Fuyuhiko mocked. "I said...I can do it."
"Are you being serious right now...?" Hajime asked before you let out a loud chuckle.
"Pff, okay." You chuckled, making Fuyuhiko angrier.
"Hey, Fuyuhiko...why don't you calm down a bit?" Hajime said.
"Don't talk to me like we're friends or something!" Fuyuhiko yelled. "I live in a completely different world than you bastards... Kill or be killed... That's the kind of world I live in."
"You know that's not actually true." You started, as you found an interest in a tree on your right. "Kill or be killed may be a popular saying to those trying to be threatening, but what practically everyone fails to acknowledge is the fact that there is also a third option. Aka, surviving." You looked to meet the group's eyes. "It's what all of us have been doing our entire lives, including you, Fuyuhiko. Though you may be part of the Yakuza, you, yourself, don't need to kill unless provoked. Am I right?" You asked hypothetically, extremely confident in your words.
"Don't patronize me you bitch!!" Fuyuhiko yelled.
"Just stop already... This kind of fighting will not get us anywhere." Peko interjected calmly.
"Shut the hell up! There's no way I'm dealing with this Kumbaya crap!" Fuyuhiko said. "If any of you guys wanna die, step forward... I'll fuckin' kill you right now..."
While there were multiple objections, you took a few steps forward.
"I mean, if he's offering to do so, I don't mind." You smiled, while everyone looked at you with wide eyes.
"Good...you were really starting to piss me off." Fuyuhiko said as you made your way in his line of vision, a few feet away.
"What are you waiting for? Do it." You stated, waiting for something to happen. As you thought, something did.
Fuyuhiko had pulled out a gun that was covered by his suit, which nobody was really expecting, as he shakily aimed it at you.
"Fuyuhiko...!" Hajime gasped
"F-Fuyuhiko, don't do this! This isn't what friends do!" Nagito yelled, making Fuyuhiko's anger worse.
"Shut the hell up!! This ugly whore isn't my friend and never will be!!" He yelled as you took the pain of his words, hoping there was no visible reaction as you let in a shaky inhale.
"If I'm such an ugly whore then why don't you just fucking shoot me already, huh?" You egged him on as he held the gun tighter.
"...How do I know you won't fight back." Fuyuhiko mustered out, while you heaved an exhale.
"Fine, fine..." You muttered under your breath, taking off your coat, and reaching into your pocket to pull out the small switchblade, holding it up for Fuyuhiko to see. You spun it between your fingers a few times, before dropping it on the ground with your jacket. "Good enough for you?"
Everyone was shocked into silence about how bold you were being. You were accepting Fuyuhiko's aggression with such open arms, nobody could really believe it. You held your hands up and put them behind your head, showing that you wouldn't struggle.
"Well... I'm waiting." You tilted your head, as Fuyuhiko still had yet to do anything.
"(F/N)... a-are you sure about this? Are you not scared!?" Hajime yelled, hoping to stall the current situation.
"I fear nothing but life itself." You said plainly, waiting for Fuyuhiko to fire.
"But... you might die!" Hajime exclaimed, as you turned towards him.
"...It would speed up the process." You said, looking back at Fuyuhiko. You took a few steps toward him, and bent down slightly.
"Would you like me to pull the trigger?" You asked, with a faking-ly strained voice, as Fuyuhiko aimed the gun slightly higher, directly at your forehead.
"Stop this right now, both of you." Byakuya said, as you turned toward him. "You're both acting like children.'
"Stop treating me like a fucking kid!!" Fuyuhiko yelled, also facing Byakuya.
"What would reckless killing accomplish? If you fail to get away with it, you know you'll be executed... Or perhaps...that's what you really want?" Byakuya said, while you smirked, catching the yakuza's attention.
"Bitch... why the hell are you smirking like that!?" He yelled, as you faced him, with no visible change. "You... you knew that didn't you!?"
"I may be an 'ugly whore', but I'm not stupid." You signified, making Fuyuhiko growl.
"Stop it both of you. If you really did shoot (F/N), you'd be killing yourself to run away from this predicament. That's what a child would do." Byakuya stated.
"Wh-What did you just say...!?" Fuyuhiko uttered.
"Listen! So long as we're here, I will not let any of you die! I will not let any of you become a victim!" Byakuya justified. "That goes for both of you, (F/N) and Fuyuhiko. I won't let either of you die!"
You smiled, knowing now that Byakuya really just wanted the best for everyone.
"Wh-what the hell...? Everything you're saying...it's just empty promises!" Fuyuhiko said.
"It's true my words would ring hollow if anyone else spoke them..." Byakuya started, "But I am Byakuya Togami, and I am destined to bring these promises to fruition."
"Yowza! He's sooooo cool!" Ibuki praised.
"Mhm... I agree." Teruteru said.
"Hmph...I don't care what you say. I'm just gonna do whatever I feel like..." Fuyuhiko said.
"Do as you will. However, remember what I promised." Byakuya said. "I will not let any of you become a victim. That is the duty I have as everyone's leader." He stated, as Fuyuhiko scoffed.
"Byakuya really isn't bad, isn't he... He just wants to keep everyone safe as our leader. He really is a good guy..."You thought.
"Uh..." A new voice said, until you realized it was Monokuma.
"Uwaah...!?" Hajime exclaimed.
"It looked like you guys were arguing...so I wasn't really sure when to show up..." Monokuma said. "But boy oh boy if that little dispute between (F/N) and Fuyuhiko wasn't so fun to watch! I really thought Fuyuhiko was going to shoot her, but apparently not..." Monokuma professed, making Fuyuhiko give you side eyes, while you moved steps away from him.
"Why...are you dressed like that?" Chiaki asked Monokuma. You decided to take a closer look at what he was wearing, finding him in a blue toned suit.
"Oh, didn't I mention it in my recent broadcast? It's my costume for the fun time!" Monokuma replied.
"Oh, don't tell me you're going to..." Peko trailed off, to be interupted by Monokuma.
"That's right! Since we're on a tropical island, I'm here to do my two-man comedy routine!" Monokuma said.
"Wh-Why does it matter that we're on a tropical island?" Mikan stuttered.
"Plus, there's only one of you... How are you going to do a two-man comedy routine if there's only one of you?" You added.
"Well, that's why I brought my partner." Monokuma said.
At that moment, Monomi popped up. She, like Monokuma, was also dressed up, but in a frilly pink dress with a dark pink rose.
"Ha-wa-wa! What is this!?" She yelled.
"Now then, without further ado, I'm pleased to present 'Monokuma's Side-Splitting Live Two-Man Comedy Show'!" He announced, making Monomi panic, as she had no knowledge that this would be happening.
As they both introduced themselves as 'The Monokuma's' on stage, and went on with their routine, you couldn't help but try and find interest in... anything else. The routine was clearly improvised, as Monomi did have no knowledge of this event, and that Monokuma just seemed to be trying to mess with her for a while. All in all, it was horrible. If this really was the reason Monokuma decided to call everyone in the middle of the night, you wouldn't mind dying by hurting him.
"You guys better be careful, too. Ya know, since Monomi's actually a bad guy." Monokuma said, which actually grabbed your attention. As much as Monomi prevailed to be useless to everyone, it seemed as if Monokuma was more the bad guy than Monomi, considering he's the reason that everyone must kill someone in order to leave the island.
"Believe me, it's a fact that Monomi's a villain. I'll let you all in on a little secret of hers..." Monokuma started, as you started paying attention to the two dual-colored animals on stage. "Monomi...went out of her way to erase your memories!"
Your eyes widened as Monomi let out noises of surprise.
"You guys don't even remember how you got to this island, am I right?" Monokuma started. "Well, that's because Monomi stole your memories!"
"Wh-What are you saying all of a sudden!?" Monomi interjected.
"But wait, there's more! She didn't just steal your boring memories, like how you guys got to this island. She completely took away your memories of the years you spent at Hope's Peak Academy! What a shocker!" Monokuma stated again, making your mind go into disbelief. "Phew... I feel great now that I've shared that with you. Seriously, memory loss plots are so old hat nowadays... Only a total hack would wait until the end of the story to reveal a cliched twist like that!"
As Monomi tried to refrain Monokuma from saying more, Monokuma, obviously, did not listen.
"Puhuhu~... Wasn't that a huge surprise? In truth, you guys aren't freshman students at all. You guys just thought you were because you've lost all of your school memories!" Monokuma jeered. "Quick, someone get a plagiarist because I feel like I've heard this story before!"
"S-Seriously, this is bad in so many ways!" Monomi said, before earning another punch from Monokuma.
"GYAAAAAAH! His backhand is far too powerful!" She yelped.
Wveryone else was stunned into silence at the news Monokuma had just told everyone. Monomi had...erased your memories? Not just of the arrival of the island, but of your entire freshman, and possible more, year?
"Wh-What did he mean?" Nagito managed to speak first, before Monokuma popped out again.
"How was it? Was it funny? Or was the comedy too high-brow for you?" Monokuma spewed out questions, as if what he had just revealed about the memory loss wasn't extremely important, or shocking to you all.
"Hey... What were you just saying just now?" Byakuya asked the two-toned bear.
"What was I saying just now..." Monokuma repeated, innocently. "Oh, you mean when I said you school memories were completely stolen?"
"Ye-Yeah... Wh-What the hell is that supposed to mean..." You mustered out.
"Aha...hahaha... There's now way..." Ibuki laughed weakly. "Cause...I just entered Hope's Peak Academy, and then I was brought to this island...right away..."
"That's because that's how you remember it." Monokuma jeered. "All thanks to Monomi stealing your school memories..."
"Wh-What are you saying!? That's impossible!" Hajime exclaimed.
"Man...how many years has it been since you guys first entered Hope's Peak Academy...?" Monokuma asked, innocently, as if to tease you all. "I wonder what happened to your friends and family? They're probably worried sick about you... Maybe?"
"Our school memories were stolen!? That's ridiculous!" Nekomaru yelled, clearly nervous.
"That's right! There's no way I have memory loss!" Kazuichi stated.
"D-Don't...don't listen to what he says..." Monomi yelled.
"Despite the fact that Monomi is technically a robot, it's mechanics and mannerisms are much like a humans..." You thought. "Doing so, she also technically reacts like a human... but her face right now seems too panicked... like she's trying to defend herself from something bad she's done..."
"Blub-blub-blub-blub... Limit breached..." Ibuki uttered, the white foam spilling out of her mouth yet again.
"I refuse to believe such a thing." Teruteru muttered. "Yep, everything's okay... I don't believe it..."
"Y-You're lying right...? Stealing our memories...that's a lie, right?" Mikan stuttered, tears forming in her eyes. "You're just trying to make fools out of us, right...?"
"Nope, it's not a lie. If it was a lie...then how do you explain this?" Monokuma started, grabbing your attention, preparing for the worst. "The moment you arrived at Hope's Peak Academy, you all experienced a strange dizziness..."
"Wh-" Hajime stuttered. "H-How...do you know that?"
"Puhuhu~... Why, that was the cut-off point." Monokuma stated. "Your memories beyond that point have been completely removed."
Now, being brought to a strange island on the 'first' day of your freshman year by your bunny teacher, that was strange.
Having a black and white colored bear take over the island you were forced to stay on, making a rule that if you would like to leave, you would have to kill and get through a 'class trial', was even weirder.
But this... being told that your originally rabbit teacher had erased your school memories, and how you even managed to get on this island was also erased... that was the weirdest of them all.
"Our families could be severely hurt, or dead, for all we know..." You thought to yourself. "...Any of us could be dating, maybe gone further, and we'd have no clue."
"So...a long time has passed...since then...?" Mikan squealed.
"I-Impossible! There's no way!" Nekomaru yelled again.
"On the contrary...why is it impossible?" Monokuma asked aloud.
"Whether or not it's possible...there's no way we can believe it." Nagito said.
"You just don't want to believe it, right?" Monokuma stated. "But don't worry...I'm a generous guy! I can give you back your memories!... However...there's a catch."
"Don't tell me the catch is..." Chiaki muttered.
"We're gonna have to kill someone in order to get our memories back, isn't it." You responded to the bear.
"That's right! That's my bargaining point!" Monokuma laughed. "You guys wanna know, right? You want your school memories returned to you, right? Then you better start killing! A penny for your thoughts, and a murder for you memories!"
"Hey... Stop runnin' your mouth." Akane growled.
"My, my...why so angry? I'm just providing you all a motive from the bottom of my big, generous heart!" Monokuma professed. "Otherwise, you cowards wouldn't get any killing done!... Well, that's not your fault." Monokuma giggled. "Human's are natural born cowards. They even cry after their mom squeezes 'em out. Thats why I'm giving you a motive. Think of it as an excuse to commit your future crimes."
"S-Stop this at once...!" Byakuya asserted. "Do you really think your delusional rambling will convince us to commit murder...?"
"I don't even believe that memory loss crap in the first place!" Mahiru yelled.
"But more than that, what you guys really don't believe is each other, right?" Monokuma asked, almost teasingly.
"Wh-What do you mean...!?" Mahiru uttered.
"You guys don't know each other. Which means... None of you realize that a traitor is hiding among you, right?" Monokuma cackled.
"Huh...?" You muttered.
"Hey, why are there seventeen of you?" Monokuma started. "If a total of sixteen students from Hope's Peak Academy were arranged to come to this island... That's right! There's probably a traitor I don't even know bout hiding among the group!... Just kidding."
"Wh-What are you saying... All this shit about traitors doesn't make any sense!" Fuyuhiko said.
"...It's obviously nonsense." Peko added.
"For real, you guys... How can you be so sure?" Monokuma said. "You guys don't know anything about each other. You don't know each other's true natures. That's why, if one of you is planing to kill someone, it's impossible for any of you to know."
Everyone had fallen silent once again. It was exactly like the same night at Jabberwock Park when the killing game had been first announced. The suspicion rising high above everyone's heads had come again, and that feeling of trust, not within the other people, but within yourself, had been slowly diminishing. You really didn't want to admit that Monokuma was right... but you knew he was.
"Even so...if there really is a traitor, isn't that gosh darn awful?" Monokuma asked, teasingly. "Pretending to be your ally and tricking you guys... It makes sense for someone like that to get killed, right?" Monokuma laughed, boisterously. "C'mon, make the preemptive strike! It's first come, first served and the winner takes all! If you wanna survive, you gotta find that person before they find you..." Monokuma cackled once again, before disappearing, leaving everyone still shell shocked.
"Is it true...? Is there really a traitor among us...?" Mikan broke the silence. "Ah! It's not me by the way! I know I may look suspicious but... it's not me!"
"Who is it!? Hurry up and how yourself! You're only making things worse for you by stand silent!" Nekomaru yelled.
"...Just stop. There's no way there's a traitor." Byakuya said, plainly. "There's no way... It's pointless to even discuss something so foolish."
"Th-That's right... I don't believe it..." Teruteru muttered. "Because there's no way I can believe it... There's no reason in the first place to believe it..."
"Monomi...you would know." Peko said, making you toward the rabbit in question.
"...Huh!?" She squeaked.
"Is what Monokuma said true? About our memory loss...and about the traitor...?" Peko interrogated Monomi, as she tried avoiding the question with meaningless statements, before disappearing.
"Ah, she ran away!" Akane voiced.
"Hmph, how ridiculous..." Fuyuhiko muttered. "Memory loss...a traitor...it's completely fictional... I can't deal with this bullshit, dumbass!"
As much as you wanted to believe with was a fictional alternate reality, you knew it wasn't. You knew all of this was real. You were stranded on an island with 16, basically, strangers. You were forced to kill one of those strangers, and get away with it, in order to leave. You're memories, for who knows how long, were erased. That was the reality you were all in.
And, most of all, Monokuma was right. When he said "You guys don't know anything about each other.", he was right. Nobody knew what anyone was capable of, especially with the stunt you had instigated with Fuyuhiko earlier... there really was no telling what anyone would do.
At that moment, the familiar school bell rang, and the monitor came on.
"Ahem! Hope's Peak Academy School Trip Executive Committee has an announcement to make ... It is now 10:00 P.M. Please return to your rooms and relax. Let the sound of the ocean gently rock you to sleep. Now then, sweet dreams everyone. Good niiiiiiight..."
At that, the monitor turned off, leaving everyone in their frozen states still.
Well, until Chiaki decided to break the silence.
"...Hey, what should we do?"
"The only thing we can do... which is leave and go sleep, I guess." You muttered.
"It's best if we call it a night here." Byakuya stated. "We need to sleep... so we can try and keep our minds calm."
"...I guess you're right." Chiaki said.
"Just so you all know... Do not think about unnecessary things. This is your leader's order." Byakuya said. "Tomorrow morning... let's meet at the restaurant after Monokuma's morning announcement."
"This is so troubling... I believe the saying goes, 'I am frightened so stiff..." Sonia sulked.
"That's... not what the saying is."
"...I feel pretty stiff right now, too." Teruteru said, and at that, you're eyes widened, as you clapped your hands together.
"AhAHA- And at that, I'm gonna leave." You said, as you picked up your items, which had been on the ground the whole time. You slung your jacket behind your shoulder, and held the blade in your palm. "Goodnight, everyone. I'll see you guys tomorrow morning, sleep well." You smiled, walking away from the group.

As you closed the door from your cottage, you slinked back, hitting the nearest wall, before sliding down is, your head in your knees.
"I swear... none of this could get any worse..." You muttered, shaking your head in your hands.
"A traitor...? Is one of us really not like the others?" You pondered. "I don't have a clue who it could even be... This feels like a weird, badly written anime, where the traitor is probably the person the protagonist trusts the most."
You sighed, hitting your head back onto the wall, closing your eyes tightly.
"...I kinda hope it's Teruteru so I can kick his ass... I'm don't know if he'd actually feel pain or enjoy it though-" You thought, erupting a chuckle from your lips.
"God... I should get some sleep. It's been hellfire today."
You got up from the wall, taking a pair of sleeping clothes from your drawers, entering the bathroom as you did your nightly routine, which now added cleaning the new piercings Hiyoko had given you earlier.
You collapsed onto your bed, now realizing that this was your horrid reality, not wanting to wake up ever again.
