{Twilight Syndrome Murder Case:

Investigation Edition.

Press START}

2nd Day

A girl standing alone in a hallway. Long, straight black hair, a brown sweater vest, a pink skirt, and black knee high socks.

[Girl A]

[(Ah, it's already late...I'm gonna be late for our meeting...]

[Everyone's waiting...I gotta hurry and go. If I'm late...everyone's gonna hate me...]

[(Um...they're waiting in classroom 1-A...)]

The dialogue bar at the bottom of the screen went away, and a heart monitor appeared at the top of the screen, a cool blue tone.

You nodded towards Hajime, and he took the hint to take the control to make the girl walk.

He made the girl walk down the hall and stopped in front of classroom 1-A. He clicked the button next to the controller to enter the door.

[Girl B]

[Man, you're finally here! You're so late! What were you doing!?]

[Girl A]

[I-I'm sorry...if you're angry, I'm sorry... U-Um...don't be mad...!]

[Girl D]

[We're not angry...]

[Girl B]

[Just hurry up and get over here!]

[Girl A]

[O-Okay...]

[(I should go talk to Girl B for now...)]

The dialogue ended, making Hajime walk forward. He stopped in front of the shortest girl, and the dialogue bar appeared again.

[Girl A]

[Um...we're here because you had something important to say, right?]

[...What's this about?]

[Girl E]

[Obviously, it's about yesterday's incident.]

[Girl B]

[Hey, you already saw the newspaper, right?]

[Girl D]

[Y-Yeah...]

[Girl A]

[...Huh? What newspaper?]

[Girl B]

[Gawd, you're such a slowpoke, Girl A. It's in today's evening newspaper.]

A girl walked across the classroom walked up to Girl A. She put her hand out.

[Girl C]

[This one, here ya go!]

[Girl E]

[...Just read it.]

The screen panned from the girls in the classroom to a newspaper on a desk.

July 8th: At around 6:00 a.m., a janitor from XX Academy came to work...

...and discovered the body of a female high school student in the music room on the 2nd floor.

"God, this was based on non-fiction too, right? Meaning this happened to people in real life, probably some of us... How could that have happened?"

The student had been struck forcefully in the head with a blunt object, and was already dead.

It seems the killer broke a window to escape. Based on the details of the crime, authorities say...

...the investigation is ongoing, and believe someone may have snuck into the school to commit the act.

The newspaper dialogue ended there, and panned back to the five girls standing in the classroom.

"This is fucking horrible."

[Girl A]

[...]

[Girl B]

[I was a little surprised. I never expected it would make the newspaper.]

[Girl E]

[It says "someone may have snuck into the school," so they might be thinking that a pervert did it.]

[It *is* the only lead they have. I mean...her school swimsuit did get stolen, too...]

[Girl C]

[That sick, twisted bastard!]

[Sneaking into a school to steal a swimsuit, killing a nearby girl, and escaping out the window...]

[Kyaaaaaaah! We're all in danger, too!]

[Girl A]

[B-But...is this really okay...?]

[We were the first ones to discover the body...and we kept it a secret...]

[Girl B]

[It would've been the same  no matter who found the body first. Don't worry about it.]

[It's not like we have anything to hide anyway.]

[Girl E]

[That's right...all we did was find a body and not report it.]

[That's not really a crime.]

[Girl A]

[B-But still...!]

[Girl E]

[I know you're a masochist but there's no way I'm going to get involved in this.]

[I'm finally a student at this academy! There's no way I'm getting expelled over something like this!]

[Right? Isn't that right, Girl D?]

[Girl D]

[Y-Yeah...I agree, but...]

[Girl C]

[...]

[What's up!? You don't seem so sure.]

[Girl D]

[U-Um...I actually have something to discuss with you guys...]

[Girl A]

[(Girl D...I wonder what's going on? What does she want to talk about...?)]

[Girl D]

[To be honest, I...I ended up taking several photos of her yesterday...]

[Girl E]

[A-Are you talking about her body!?]

"Who the hell takes photos of  a dead body? That's creepy."

[Girl D]

[I thought we might get questioned by the police...So I thought I should take them just in case...]

[Girl A]

[Wh-Where are those photos now...?]

[Girl D]

[I have them...right here.]

[Girl C]

[Whaaaaaaa-! I don't wanna look at them!]

[We're definitely gonna get cursed!]

[Girl A]

[C-Cursed...!?]

[Girl E]

[Stupid! Curses aren't even real!]

[You seriously need to throw away those photos! Give them to me!]

[Girl D]

[Ah, hey!]

[Girl C]

[This is bad! If you rip it like that, the curse...]

[Girl E]

[I just said curses don't exist!]

[It's better to just rip these photos to shreds and throw them into the incinerator!]

[Girl D! If you have any digital copies, you need to erase those too!]

[Girl D]

[O-Okay...]

[Girl B]

[Hey Girl E. what happened? Why do you sound so desperate?]

[Girl E]

[N-Never mind...let's just forget about the whole incident!]

[We had nothing to do with it, and we weren't the first ones to discover the body...]

[Okay? The end!]

[Seriously. let's go home already! C'mon, it's getting late!]

"Girl E seems really adamant about not having any evidence or knowledge of the murder on her mind, or any of their minds. But she sounds anxious and almost guilty. Weird."

4th Day

"We started with the second day and immediately skipped to the fourth? We're missing a lot of things without the first and third day. What is this?"

A girl walks in from the right side of the screen. Long, brown hair, white shirt, pink skirt, and black socks. It's Girl E.

[(Man...it's already late. The hardest part of being in the archery club is changing clothes...)]

[(Everyone's probably gone back by now...Then...I guess I have to go back on my own...)]

[(I think this is around the time that incident occurred, too...)]

[(Ah, jeez! Why am I thinking about something so stupid again!?)]

[(That's right. I just gotta hurry up and forget about that incident!)]

Girl E starts walking to the left side of the screen to leave. She stops midway.

The text at the bottom changes color, turning into a menacing red.

[???]

[I won't...let...you...forget...]

The arcade machine exudes a loud noise, startling you from your hunched position next to Hajime. Girl E flinches and the heart monitor turns a bright yellow and starts moving faster.

"Uhm...are you okay?" Hajime asks softly. You notice his concerned gaze in your peripherals and nod.

"Mhm. Yep." You cough into the back of your hand. "Keep going."

Hajime mumbles a small 'Okay..." before clicking the dialogue button to continue.

[Girl E]

[...Huh!?]

[???]

[I won't...let you...forget...]

[Girl E]

[Wh-Who's there!? Where are you!?] Girl E's model looks around the hallway she's in.

[???]

[I won't let you forget I won't let you forget I won't let you forget...]

Girl E starts stepping backwards slowly.

[Girl E]

[F-Forgive...me...]

She starts sprinting offscreen.

[Girl E]

[FORGIVEEEEE MEEEEEEEE!]

[???]

[Never never never never never never never never never never never never never never never...]

The same loud noise that startled you came again, but this time accompanied by a black screen with bold, large, red letters spelling I will never forgive you.

Blood splatters started covering up the words before it panned back to three of the girls standing in the hallway. A short one on the far right, one with white socks in the middle, and one with braids on the left.

"This game really is scary. I also haven't been sleeping well. I should've thought this through." You yawned as Hajime progressed through the dialogue without your attention. You didn't really care until another girl came running in from the opposite side and one of the original girls starting kneeling over on the ground, covering her ears in pain.

"Wait, what's going on?" You asked Hajime.

"Apparently something happened to Girl E..." He muttered.

"She was the one getting all that weird dialogue, right?"

"Mhm. It's kind of hard to differentiate all of the girls if they're all the same aside from the one letter difference in their display names." He chuckled, as he continued clicking the button.

The heart monitor at the top went back to yellow.

[*Clatter clatter clatter!*]

The screen flashed a bright red once again making you squint your eyes and step back at the scene on the arcade machine.

A girl, presumably Girl E, was slouched over a wall, her head hung forward as a blood splatter was visible at the top. Next to her, was a bloodied bat.

"...She's dead." You blinked.

The screen flashed a bright white, and then showed a menacing GAME OVER screen, pasted in large black font with a red shadow behind it. The music made your insides recoil.

But, more importantly, stood out the text Down five... in bright red font and a black outline. It looked...out of place with the GAME OVER screen. You tilted your head.

Hajime was silent as you heard him gulp.

"...You okay?"

"That was...pretty intense..." He chuckled nervously. "But...that's the end? It doesn't make sense."

"Well, Monokuma made it. He's always trying to mess with us. And this is technically a motive..." Hajime recoiled at that reminder.

"It started with the second day all of a sudden... And jumped to the fourth day afterward..." Hajime mumbled. "Why were the first and third day skipped?"

"That...you're also right about. Like I said, it's a motive, so Monokuma would want to put every detail there to, well, motivate us."

"And that weird 'Down five' message on the game over screen... It's all so, so-!" Hajime groaned. "It's all so cryptic and weird!!"

"Down five..." You mumbled to yourself, chewing on your bottom lift.

"I'm going back to my cottage, I can't think about this right now. Goodnight (Y/-" Hajime started to bid his goodbyes to you before you interrupted.

"Wait, Hajime. Stay." You ordered, as you were already turned back to the arcade machine.

"What? (F/N), why?" Hajime asked, but already walked back to be by your side.

"I'm not the Ultimate Gamer like Chiaki, but I have a feeling that this down five message might be some sort of clue..." You hypothesized.

"You think?" Hajime asked.

"I think it's something to do with either the joystick or the down button."

"You can try it since you're the one thinking about it."

"Wow, thanks." You mused sarcastically. "I assume you want a break from being the one playing."

"...A little bit. That's why I wanted to go back."

"You can go back to your cottage if you want, I'm not going to force you to stay against your will." You told him, looking over his shoulder to look at his face. He looked back.

"Well...now I can't. I can't just leave you alone here." Hajime rubbed the back of his neck bashfully. You bumped him with your hip.

"Luckily I have you, huh? You're great company." You smiled, taking pride in the way his cheeks turned pink through the dim reflection of the screen.

You took the joystick in your hand and flicked it down five times. Nothing.

You pressed the down button five times. Nothing.

"Maybe it's not supposed to be on this screen..." You whispered.

"Try doing it on the title screen. Maybe...it'll take us to day one and we'll get the things we missed."

"This is why I like you, Hajime. You think things through and you're a lot smarter than we give you your credit for." You smiled, as you clicked the button to go to the main screen.

Flicked the joystick down five times. Nothing.

You clicked the down button five times.

Something.

The intro screen changed. The background was the same, but it turned into a red brown hue. Not only that, but the Investigation Edition had turned into Truth Edition.

"I was right...!" You smiled proudly for yourself.

Hajime scoffed happily next to you. "And you call me the smart one? I wouldn't have found that out on my own. I was about to leave and go back to my cottage and sleep had you not called for me. You're seriously smart, (F/N)." He praised you, as you smiled.

"Thanks, Hajime..." You said quietly before turning back to the screen. "This is the real game. Twilight Syndrome Murder Case Truth Edition."

"Now we have to find out the rest of what happened. Press the button and lets keep going." He said.

You nodded, pressing the button with your pointer finger.

The start was different this time around. Instead of immediately going to the first day, the game opened up with rolling white text on an ominous red and black background.

We open with a specific murder case.

A tragic killing occurred within the grounds of the academy that the girls attended.

Based on the understanding of the crime scene,

the police ruled out that the incident was

the work of a pervert who snuck into the school grounds.

However, there was a secret behind that incident.

Even before the janitor first discovered the body,

there were students who witnessed the crime itself.

The students were those five high school girls.

"That's why most of them were so antsy about the mention of the murder. They witnessed it."

They didn't want to get involved in the incident,

so they tried to hide the fact that they were

the first to discover it.

However, tragedy befell those girls.

Several days after the incident...

One of the five girls, Girl E, is murdered by someone.

"That was what we saw at the end of the fourth day."

What in the world happened at this once peaceful academy...?

By playing the missing "1st Day" and "3rd Day",

you will be able to understand the mystery.

All answers you seek are hidden in this Truth Edition.

Will you be able to reach the truth?

Now then, let's start with the "1st Day," when it all began.

As the scrolling text reached its end, the screen faded to the awaited 1st Day screen. It's font and background were the exact same as the GAME OVER screen in the last edition.

This time, the game started with three girls in the beginning of the hallway, and one rushing in from the right side. The heart monitor at the top was blue.

[Girl A]

[I-I'm sorry...! I'm really...really sorry for keeping you all waiting!]

[Girl B]

[Jeez, we're gonna go home late because we had to wait for slowpoke Girl A.]

[Girl D]

[Come on Girl B, you don't have to be that mad!]

In an instant there was a small flash of white and a small *click* noise that eluded from the game.

[Girl B]

[Heeey, don't go taking photos without permission! People might mistake us for good friends!]

[Girl A]

[I-I'm not your friend!?]

"This relationship seems vaguely familiar."

[Girl B]

[Whaaaaat? There's no way I'd ever be friends with a nasty, trashy, pigshit like you!]

"Now it's definitely familiar."

[Girl C]

[Tahaaa! The way Girl B treats people, even loan sharks looking to collect would get sick to their stomachs!]

[Girl A]

[Huh... Is Girl E here yet?] Girl A's model swiveled around.

[Girl C]

[Ah, apparently she forgot something. She told us to wait just a little longer!]

[Girl D]

[She can't find her school swimsuit...]

[Girl B]

[Her swimsuit, huh... Maybe it got stolen?]

[Girl A]

[S-Stolen!?]

[Girl B]

[You don't know? A pervert has been spotted in the area recently.]

[Kehe...you should be super careful, Girl A. A chubby weakling like you makes the perfect prey.]

"That is...really gross."

[Girl D]

[Hey, stop it... Girl A's getting really scared.]

[Girl B]

[Kyahaha! It's fun to bully Girl A!]

Immediately, there was a large crash sound from the game, making you jump out of shock. You took a deep breath as Hajime put his hand on your shoulder.

You passed him a apologetic but thankful look as you turned your attention back to the screen.

The heart monitor at the top turned yellow.

[Girl B]

[Wh-What was that sound!?]

[It sounded like glass breaking...]

[It sounded like it came from the second floor, let's go!]

Two flicks of a joystick later and you were at the second floor.

[Girl A]

[Girl E! Wh-What happened!?]

[Girl E]

[I-I don't know! I was walking past the front of the music room and I suddenly heard the sound of glass breaking.]

[Girl C]

[Is...someone in there?]

[Girl E]

[That's what I think but...I think the door is locked. I can't get it open.]

The shortest girl walked over to the door and attempted to open it.

[Girl B]

[You're right. It's locked.]

[Girl C]

[Did someone lock it from the inside? Is someone really in there!?]

[Girl E]

[Uhm...if we use the key from the teachers lounge, we can open this door, right?]

[Girl D]

[I'll go to the teachers lounge and get the key to the music room!]

[The teachers are probably gone by now, so I'm sure we can bring the key over in secret...]

[But...I have a bad feeling about this!]

The dialogue ended, and Girl D walked away and came back with what was presumably an invisible video game key.

[Girl D]

[I found the key! Nobody was there so it was super easy to get!]

[Girl C]

[Then let's open it right away!]

Girl D walks over to the music room door and opens it with an in game *creak*

[Girl B]

[...Girl A, you lead the way!]

[Girl A]

[Huh? M-Me!?]

[Girl B]

[C'mon, hurry hurry!]

Gaining control of Girl A, you click on the music room door and the screen fades to black, aside from the yellow heart monitor at the top and the blue tinted dialogue box.

[*...Clatter-clatter-clatter!*]

Walking into the rest of the music room as Girl A, the multiple desks and chairs getting in your way, and a piano in the background.

Once the chairs over, there was an empty space consisting of a dead girl, a broken window, and a broken fish tank.

"That's the dead girl from the second day..."

[Girl A]

[S-Someone's...laying on the floor...]

"Someone is actually dead on the floor but okay, see as you will."

The rest of the girls come running over from the left side of the screen, and the shortest kneels down at the body.

[Girl B]

[Th-This...she's not laying down...]

[She's dead.]

The same loud ring plays through the speakers of the machine and the previously yellow heart monitor has now turned into a deep red.

[Girl D]

[D-Dead!?]

[Girl E]

[That's impossible...why.../]

[Girl A]

[KYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!]

[Girl B]

[Lower your voice! They still might be nearby!]

[Girl E]

[N-Nearby...?]

[Girl B]

[I mean, this...looks like someone murdered her.]

[Girl C]

[Murdered...huh!?]

[Girl B]

[Seriously, shut up! What's gonna happen if the killer notices us!?]

[Girl D]

[Wh-What should we do...? What should I do...?]

Girl B looks around.

[Girl B]

[...]

[I see, so that's what happened.]

[I found it. The killer's escape route.]

[Girl A]

[(Escape route...could it be...)]

[Ah, the window is broken...!]

[Girl B]

[The sound we heart from the entrance hall was probably the window breaking.]

[*Someone* probably locked the music room door from the inside, and after killing this girl...]

[They broke the window and escaped outside.]

[Looks like she got hit by something when she died, but I can't seem to find anything bloody here...]

[What happened to the weapon? Did the killer take it?]

[Girl C]

[Sooooo...the killer just ran out the window!?]

[Girl A]

[But...if they just wanted to run away, they could've just opened the window. Why did they have to break it?]

[Girl E]

[Th-They were probably truing to leave in a hurry... Look...there's evidence.]

Girl E walks and crouches down in front of the fallen fish tank.

[Girl E]

[The fish tank by the window is tipped over, and all the gravel is scattered...]

[Girl B]

[They must've accidentally tipped it over when they were frantically trying to get away.]

"That seems so unlikely though...the fishtank was close to the window, sure, but it doesn't look close enough to be knocked over if someone was trying to leave out the window. But, these video game graphics are shit. I can't be sure... I'll keep it in mind..."

[Girl E]

[It's not too high to jump from the 2nd floor, so maybe they thought it'd be safer than using the hallway...]

[Girl A]

[B-But...is that really it...?]

[Girl B]

[I mean, to lock the door, you'd have to either lock it from inside the music room...or use the langue key.]

[Girl D]

[Oh, when I went to get the music room key, it was in the teacher's langue...]

[Girl B]

[So the killer wouldn't have had time to return the key before they broke the window...]

[Girl C]

[Then, the door could've been locked from the inside... That means the killer was inside the music room.]

[Girl B]

[Also, to get outside from the music room, they'd need to have passed us in the entrance hall...]

[But we didn't see anyone pass by...]

[Which means the killer's only escape route was this window.]

"Uh huh..."

[Girl E]

[I-It's probably...that pervert I heard about...He's the one who snuck inside the school grounds.]

[Girl A]

[...Huh?]

[Girl E]

[My school swimsuit...was stolen. I couldn't find it anywhere.]

[Girl C]

[Then...the pervert who stole Girl E's swimsuit also murdered that girl over there!?]

[Girl A]

[So they frantically tried to get away, broke the window, and escaped?]

"But what was the point of mentioning the swimsuit then...? My lack of sleep is catching up to me."

[Girl E]

[I-Isn't...it bad if we stay here much longer?]

[I mean, I don't want to get involved in something like this...And the killer might still be around, too...]

[Girl C]

[That's bad! Uber bad! We better hurry up and run!]

Girl C's model ran off screen, out of the room.

[Girl A]

[B-But...Don't we have to report this to the police?]

[Girl E]

[Don't you know what happens...when you report this kind of stuff to the police?]

[You become the prime suspect just because you found the body first. I definitely don't want that!]

Girl E runs off.

[Girl B]

[Yeah...it'd be best if we left this room how we found it...just lock the door, leave everything how it was...]

Girl B walks away.

[Girl A]

[Ah, hey! Please wait...don't leave me!!!]

Girl A runs away, leaving one last girl from the group looking at the dead girl against the wall.

"Why's she staying?'

NOW LOADING ...

3rd Day

One of the girls (honestly, it's almost impossible to tell who's who at first glance) is standing outside.

[Girl E]

[Girl D!! There you are!]

Girl E runs from the left side of the screen to stand in front of girl D.

[Girl E]

[Sorry, did I make you wait?]

[So what's up? You asked me to meet you here, don't tell me you're gonna confess your love to me?]

[Girl D]

[...]

[Girl E]

[Huh...what happened?]

[Girl D]

[Uhm...I want you to look at this photo...]

The same loud ring came from the game, along with an indiscernible photo and the heart monitor (once again) turning yellow.

[Girl D]

[On the day of the incident...I found this when I peeked into the next-door classroom as I was going home...]

[And I couldn't help taking a picture...]

"Literally what the fuck is that???"

[Girl D]

[What do you think these broken vase pieces mean?]

[That sound we heard from the entrance hall wasn't the sound of a window breaking...]

[Girl E]

[Wh-What is this... I... I don't know anything about this vase...!]

[Girl D]

[And if that's the case...the killer didn't escape from the window...]

[Girl E]

[S-Seriously, I don't know anything!]

[Girl D]

[...]

[It's okay, I made sure to throw it away...]

[Girl E]

[...Huh?]

[Girl D]

[If anyone found it...you'd be in trouble, right Girl E?]

[Girl E]

[Are...are you trying to blackmail me?]

[Girl D]

[O-Of course not...that's not what this is about...]

[If there's something you're hiding from me... I want you to say it.]

[I mean...we're friends, right?]

[Girl E]

[You...you didn't say anything either...]

[I knew, you know. I knew that girl who got killed was tormenting you...]

[Girl D]

[Huh...?]

[Girl E]

[No, she wasn't just tormenting you. She was seriously making your life a living hell...]

[That bitch...was in your photography club back in middle school, right?]

[She was probably jealous of your talent, so she...]

[I'm supposed to be your best friend! If you'd told me...none of this would have happened...]

[Girl D]

[Girl E...d-don't tell me you...!]

[Girl E]

[That bitch...thought she could do anything she wanted because of her family's influence...]

[And I just couldn't stand it anymore!]

[You know...at first, I tried to talk to her.]

[But that bitch...started talking shit about how she'd target me next time, so...]

[I felt...a sudden rage...and before I knew it, I was choking her...]

[And then...she lost consciousness...but things would've been worse if she woke up, so...]

[That's why I had to do something about it!]

[Girl D]

[Th-That's...!]

[Girl E]

[It's not my fault...or yours...]

[It's all her fault!]

With that, Girl E ran off the screen side she came from, leaving you with time to think.

"So Girl E was the one who killed that poor girl in the music room, which checks out because she was upstairs when everyone else heard the glass breaking, meaning she could've had more time to do everything. And, since Girl E was also the one who died at the end of the fourth day, we can also assume that the ominous voice talking to her was the voice, or soul, of the girl she killed. But...a ghost can't kill a person. I don't even know if ghosts exist. So, how exactly did Girl E die at the end?"

Just as you thought the game was over, the screen zoomed into the area where the incinerator behind the school was, which was just ways away from where Girl E and Girl D were talking.

Girl E runs, places something in front of the furnace, and leaves swiftly. Seconds after she does, a male game model walks towards it.

[Guy F]

[That bitch...Girl E, was it...?]

[Word is she was with *her* on...the day of the incident...]

[...]

Newly acquainted Guy F walks over to where Girl E placed something down.

[Guy F]

[Looks like she threw something away here... What was it?]

Despite the heart monitor having just returned to blue after the end of Girl D and Girl E's conversation, it was now back to yellow with the loud ring of the in-game noise.

[Guy F]

[What the hell is this photo!? This vase is...]

[...]

[Could it be...the sound of breaking glass...was actually this...?]

[If it wasn't...why did she try to secretly get rid of this...?]

[That bitch...what the hell did she do to my little sister!]

[Looks like I need to ask her a few questions...And if that bitch really did...that...]

The screen fades to black, and the heart monitor turns red.

[Guy F]

[I will never...]

[I will never forgive her!]

With that ending, the game returns back to the title screen of investigation edition.

"...Holy shit..."

"That was..."

"a lot..."

You and Hajime popcorned. You were both right. It was a lot.

However, you two failed to notice the rolling of credits immediately. Thank god for Hajime's attention span.

"...Credits?"

"Ohmygod there's more I can't deal with anymore-"

"Th-There's names...?"

"There's what?"

"N-Names... there are names!"

"The hell?"

The credits gave thanks to those playing a part in the video game.

After a very long, long, long list of credits to Monokuma, the cast came up.

"I hate this. I hate every second of this."

"Hey, calm down, you're fine..." You heaved out a sigh as Hajime put his hand on your shoulder again, rubbing it comfortingly.

A few seconds of doing so, and the last person (or more like thing) you want to see arrives.

"Yaaaaay! Congraaaaats! Miracle congratulatioooooons! You have finally beaten Twilight Syndrome Murder Case!"Monokuma cheers. "Now that you guys have played this game through to the end, you should already know... Taa daa! That's right, that game is a nonfiction game based on an actual past incident!"

"We can see that now..." You sighed.

"Buuuut...you guys probably don't even remember this happening. What a bummer!" Monokuma giggled, before turning into full laughter. "Well, it can't be helped. The school life you no longer remember is the setting for this story.

"Our school life..." Hajime mumbles defeatedly.

"At any rate...congratulations!" Monokuma says. "Now then, as for the ending prize I'm supposed to give you as a reward for clearing the game... I won't give it to ya!"

"Is it because someone else has already cleared the game before us?" You asked, half knowing the answer already.

"Wow, how perceptive are you!? At this rate, you're basically a psychic!!" Monokuma exclaims. "Too bad you can't figure out who's behind all of this. How disappointing!"

With that, the dual-toned bear disappears through the ground.

"This is...a lot of information to think about..." Hajime huffs. "I don't entirely see how this is a motive though..."

"I think it's more a motive for those who are involved. We see the cast list. It had Mikan, Mahiru, Ibuki, Hiyoko, and Fuyuhiko. It's probably meant to impact them the most rather than those of us who aren't in it." You hypothesized.

"But then...what about the other names?" Hajime asked. "You named five, but there were seven names."

"One of them has Fuyuhiko's last name again, so I think we can guess it's maybe his sister...?" You pondered. "I don't have a clue who that 'Sato' person is though." "At least, not right now...our memories our stolen..."

"(F/N), do you think you can retain this information for later?" Hajime asked you softly, failing to stifle a yawn from his throat. "We need some sleep now. I can see you nodding off..."

"I can try...no promises though." You giggled, softly.

"Let's get you to bed, pretty girl. You look ready for it."

"I can walk Hajime."

"I-I'm trying to help you...!"

"I appreciate it...pretty boy." You snickered.

"...G-Goodnight, (F/N). Sleep well." Hajime stuttered as he (lightly) pushed you towards your cabin.

"'Night, Hajime. You too."

Blinds of your bedside window open, shoes barely off of your feet, and outside jacket still on, the moon was bright as sleep succumbed.
