4. Coffee again
It was time to tutor Taehyung. Meet the one and only platinum. And Jungkook was dreading it. Every step he took, he felt like turning around and running home.
It wasn't that he was scared of Taehyung, he'd never even met the boy. It was how he thought Taehyung would be. Would he act like a nuisance? A pain in the ass? A narcissist? Or maybe all three.
" I don't want to do this. I don't. " Jungkook mumbled over and over to himself. " I need a coffee. " He said to himself before running to the lunch hall.
Jungkook was now seated in the library waiting for Taehyung. He was sipping on his warm coffee. He absolutely didn't want to be in school for another whole hour, and what made it worse was that Taehyung want half an hour late.
In that half an hour Jungkook did many things, he finished his textiles project plan, finished his homework, and revised for science.
Jungkook began dazing off. His eyelids begining to feel heavy, he slowly shut them, laying his head on his books.
Jungkook was back there. Years ago, sitting on the swings, being pushed by Hyungwon. Jungkook waved in his hands in the air, squealing, his smile bright. " Hyungwon! I'm gonna fall off."
Hyungwon chuckled, " then hold the ropes, and beside, I'll never let you fall. Okay? "
It was like Jungkook watching a movie. Two boys playing near the trees, laughing, talking and smiling. Oh how bitter it was.
Every time Jungkook went up in the air, and felt the cool breeze brush through his locks, he smiled and closed his eyes. He felt the warmth always in his heart, and never wanted moments with Hyungwon to stop.
" Hyungwon! I'm thirsty. " Jungkook shouted to Hyungwon, who ran to their backpacks and grabbed it for Jungkook, and opened it for him.
Jungkook was swaying on the swings still, and smiled with bunny teeth to Hyungwon after he passed the water bottle to him.
" One day .... " Hyungwon said, settling himself on the soft, warm grass.
" One day, what? " Jungkook asked, getting down from the swing, sitting down next to him.
" One day, we are gonna get out of here. Together. This town, it's messed up and one day, the both of us, we're not going to run. We are going to fly. To somewhere far. And it's just going to be us. I promise. Best friends for life. We stick together. " He said, looking up to the sky smiling.
Jungkook sighed, " don't be silly. "
Hyungwon turned to him and furrowed his eyebrows at him, " what do you mean? "
" We have both got parents that want us to get somewhere in life. They don't want us to have fun. They want us to make something of ourselves. "
Out of the two, Jungkook was always the more realistic one. It was something about Jungkook, he didn't know why, but he always crushed his own dreams because he knew they weren't possible. He wasn't a go getter, he was anything but that. Hyungwon however, he dreamed.
And one day he dreamed of Jungkook and him being away from everyone else, and it just being them.
Hyungwon held Jungkook's hand, and he held it tightly and quietly said, " that's why we should leave. They don't want us to leave and discover. We should be able to rediscover, and paint our own paths. "
Jungkook hummed, and looked at the sun setting, " this is our path. Let's stick to it. "
" Jungkook....you don't know it, but I know that you're going to end up somewhere, where you are truly happy. And if you're not happy, then that must mean I'm not alive. "
Jungkook gasped and lightly hit Hyungwon's chest, " you're going to be everywhere I am. And I'm going to be everywhere you are. " Jungkook said.
Hyungwon held Jungkook's hand and gripped it tightly, " we have big hopes and dreams but as long as we're together we don't need those dreams. "
Jungkook's heart pulled. He knew too well that them being together forever was one of Hyungwon's big hopes and dreams. He knew to well that the both of them couldn't tell what would happen. He just wanted to stay in this moment forever.
Jungkook embraced the silence, and watched the sun go down with the warmth of Hyungwon's hands and smiled crookedly. " I lose my rhythm, I lose my soul... " Jungkook began to hum quietly.
" Shall we go now? " Hyungwon said, standing up, pulling Jungkook up with him. " Mom's going to be so mad. " Jungkook said fumbling for his bag.
The sky was now dark and he knew his mom always wanted him to be home before sun down. " It's so dark as well. " He continued, shivering.
Hyungwon chuckled, " I'll walk you home then. " He gave Jungkook his jacket and they both started walking together.
" Isn't your auntie going to be mad at you? " Jungkook asked. Hyungwon nodded, " yes but I'd rather know that you got home safe. "
Jungkook lived quite far away and the boys walked for a while. Hyungwon began jumping in puddles, splashing Jungkook as well. " Stop you idiot! I'm going to get dirty! " He shouted. " Don't worry! " Hyungwon annoyed Jungkook some more but stopped when they neared Jungkook's neighborhood.
" Bye Jungkook.. " Hyungwon waved to Jungkook who walked off. He watched as Jungkook stepped up to his house door, but before he went in, he turned back and waved to Hyungwon, who watched Jungkook with a fond smile, and then turned and started walking home.
" Yo... "
Someone tapped on Jungkook's shoulders, waking him up from his deep sleep. Jungkook drowsily lifted his head up, the light hurting his eyes.
He rubbed his eyes, his vision still blurry. All he could see of the person in front of him was a grey and tan blur. " Are you Jeon Jungkook? " The person asked, voice sounding familiar.
Jungkook blinked multiple times before his vision coming back to him. Now he could fully see, and he realised who this person really was. " You're that really rude dick that I spilled my coffee on! " He said without thinking.
" Yeah, and you're the really rude brat who ruined my coat. " The boy retorted, running a hand through his hair. The boy rolled his eyes, " I can't believe you of all people has to tutor me. " He rolled his eyes, crossing his arms.
Jungkook choked, " y-you're Taehyung? " Jungkook said.
" In the flesh. " Taehyung smirked.
" Ugh....what time is it? " Jungkook groaned, he looked at the time. " 6 fucking 32pm. " He said glaring at Taehyung.
" You're late by nearly two hours. AND THE LESSON IS ONLY ONE HOUR! " Jungkook shouted. Taehyung chuckled, " at least I came. You can go home now. " He said motioning Jungkook to leave.
Jungkook stood up and packed away his things while Taehyung just watched. " You did this on purpose. " Jungkook said suddenly.
" Whatever do you mean? " Taehyung said innocently.
Jungkook stepped closer to Taehyung. " You came late on purpose. You wanted me to hate you. But I already do. But I'm not backing away from this. We both need this offer. Tremendously. "
Taehyung leaned in closer to Jungkook analysing him. His brows were furrowed and his mouth was set into a scowl. Jungkook seemed game to Taehyung. But Taehyung was always a player, and Jungkook, no in fact everyone was always a mere pawn to Taehyung.
" I don't. You do. " Taehyung said quietly to Jungkook.
Jungkook was breathing heavily, at this point, their noses were touching, and neither of them were talking. " Yes you do. You thought that money would get you on the team, but all you are now is the guy on the bench, watching everyone else play. You thought that all you needed was to play good to get you where you are so you missed out the crucial thing that you need to get you on the team. And now what are you? You're the guy on the bench, who still thinks that popularity and money will get you somewhere. It will give you jack shit. I know what type you are. So stop stuffing your face in ass, and stuff your face into books, and maybe, just maybe, you'll get somewhere. " Jungkook finished, letting out a deep breath.
Taehyung's grey eyes darkened, and they became clouded. He gripped Jungkook's wrist and pulled him even closer. Jungkook gasped and tried pushing Taehyung away. " Get off! " He shouted, but Taehyung's grip only tightened.
" Don't ever try to belittle me. Or try to act like you know me. Because you don't. " He said harshly, his tone icy, making Jungkook heat up in embarrassment.
" L-let go of me. " Jungkook stuttered, trying to work his way out of Taehyung's grip.
" And I know you too. You're the unknown boy. Although you seem to hate the shine, you want it so badly. You hate the fact that you're so poor. You hate the fact that your brains can't really get you anywhere here. You hate people like me. "
Jungkook shuddered, " that doesn't prove you know anything about me Taehyung. And you're making yourself seem like a hypocrite. "
Taehyung scoffed, " oh you think I don't know you. See we hardly know each other, but I know you inside and out. You were a mommy's boy, but it's too sad she's not here right now. Your dad, you barely knew him. Your brother was the star and that's why you hate him. Your promise to yourself is that you make yourself into something. "
Jungkook sniffed, his eyes watering and his heart pulling. But no, he couldn't cry. And he wouldn't, not in front of a boy who he hates. " That still doesn't prove anything. As much as you hate it, you know I'm right. You're just defending yourself from the truth. "
Taehyung visibly stilled and then he chuckled darkly, " how could I forget, your sexuality drove a whole family out of town. "
After hearing those words of pure and utter evil coming from Taehyung, Jungkook stilled. It was like the world was stilled. And it was just him. Everything around him started spinning and Jungkook felt suffocated. Like someone had gripped his neck tightly. Like someone was crushing his ribcages together. Like someone was trapping him into a box. But he could do nothing, except for bottle up his emotions and take a deep breath.
The last straw finally had finally been pulled and Taehyung shoved Jungkook away from him, Jungkook stumbling but catching himself just in time.
Jungkook grabbed his left over coffee - which was probably stone cold by now and poured it over Taehyung's head. The brown coffee staining Taehyung's shirt brown.
" You are the biggest jerk. Alive. " Jungkook spat out before running off with his things.
When he was finally outside, in the pouring rain, he let out everything. His tears flooding out.
Jungkook walked home in the cold, sobbing loudly, muttering words loudly to himself about how he regret everything.
Jungkook seen Taehyung drive past him.
" That stupid jerk in his Mustang. Does he have to have such a sexy car? " Jungkook said angrily.
Jungkook stormed all the way home, still upset about what Taehyung said about him. Taehyung knew Jungkook's deepest and darkest secret, and the pair had only met twice.
Taehyung also knew about Jungkook's mom, and his dad, and finally his brother. Only Lord knows how Taehyung had found out about Jungkook's family.
But most importantly his mom, " Hey mom.... " Jungkook started off, looking up to the dark sky. " Mom I need help, I don't know how I'm going to survive the next few months. Tutoring someone who knows everything about me, who already has used my past against me. " Jungkook paused for a while, hearing the leaves rustle in the wind, and the rain hitting everything and the cars splashing as they drove past. Jungkook kicked the rocks as he continued walking.
" Sometimes I want to go back mom, I just....I hate this. Like I know people have been through so much worse...but I always have to refrain myself to the people I love the most because I know what admitting my feelings could do to someone. Heck, it drove a family away. Even to my bestest of friends, I can't do this because....I don't even know why but I can't. I always seem the happiest mom. But I'm not, so please mom. Please help me. I really need you right now. "
