JOY
It was your usual Wednesday, in the middle of the week with all the chatter about Halloween parties. I got a few more invites than I expected but I guess it was all because of Namjoon.
What I found more odd was the amount of girls surrounding him, giving him invites directly. Of course, as his girlfriend I watched to see what he would do and abruptly turning my head back around. He thanked them and moved on.
Which was good.
So why do I feel like something is off?
"Alright scholars, have a seat. It's time to use those fossils of yours and turn it into something creative." Professor Min walked in with a warlocks' hat and a white mustache. "I'm in a good mood today so don't ruin it with your breathing and yapping," He threatens cutely with a wand.
"He looks happier than usual." Taegan whispered to me and sure enough I could see it. He was smiling rather than sulking from the stressful days he must have had. He would usually curse us out for talking but today he seemed relaxed.
"You think he got laid?" Taegan whispered. I nearly got a whiplash from the way I turned to her with a scowl. "Taegan! I really don't need that image in my head." I whisper-shouted while she laughed.
"Oh, come on. Professor Min getting it on with his girlfriend or boyfriend. Whatever he's into. He looks like a polygamy guy."
"Shut your face please." I turned my attention back to my professor and was instantly disgusted with myself. My brain was stuck on the image and now it wouldn't go away.
"You nasty fuck, you're thinking about it." Taegan laughed, nearly wheezing and crying at the same time while I zoned her out.
"Today is a short and easy day for you guys. So, I won't ask for anything much but a ten page horror story."
"That's easy?" I accidentally blurted out. I should really tape my mouth shut. Instead of his usual banter, he laughed and nodded his head.
"Sure is. Now, I could make this a team effort and do pairs. However, the moment shit gets louder than it should be, you're all cursed with bad grades. Clear?" He pointed his wand and we all nodded before turning to each other.
Taegan and I finished earlier than we should with our story on the Zodiac Killer haunting the people that moved into his house. In the meantime we pretended to work.
"I'm surprised your phone isn't going off, losing hearts already?" I joked.
Taegan scoffed, "Not really but I did get top user of the month. If I keep this up I might just get that internship when the new year gets here."
"Woah, slow down there. The semester just started and you're already thinking about next year?"
"Well we can't just not think about the new year because right after that those breaks are gonna fly by and before you know it we're sophomores and your little mafia boyfriend is almost out of here."
I paused for a second. In actual astonishment at what my best friend just said. She had a point but at the same time I didn't think of that. My first serious relationship and I still didn't talk about our future. Or if we even had one at that.
"So have you had the talk yet?" I turn my attention back to Taegan who's now rereading our work.
"What talk?"
"The sex talk."
I choked, "I—uhm—N-No, I mean yeah but we didn't get into the details of it. He told me whenever I felt comfortable he'd be willing to comply."
"Joy."
"Taegan."
"Is that how you think the conversation went or is that how it actually happened?"
"Fine, no it didn't. Remember when I was late for class that other day?"
"Yeah," She nodded.
"Well," I made sure to lower my voice incase I accidentally embarrassed myself. "We were sort of about to do it in the janitor's closet and I chickened out."
"PFFTT—" Taegan bursted out laughing and all heads were turning in the class. "S-Sorry." She apologized, still laughing at my confession like it was some comedy special.
"You were about to do the deed in a janitor's closet?"
"It was in the moment okay!?" I rolled my eyes.
"Aww babe. I'm sure daddy's dearest taught us better."
"He actually didn't. You did."
"Me? Don't bring me and my coochie eating habits into this."
"NOT IF YOU'RE THE ONE HEARING IT!"
"Ladies."
"Sorry." We both apologized and kept our heads down. I could for sure see the smile on her face next to me. I couldn't help but smile too and quickly glance at her.
She leaned in and whispered, "By the way, my moans are top tier pornhub quality."
"Really shouldn't be something you flex about—"
"Greater than Meghan Fox." She continued.
"Aaand we're done here."
By the time we were done bickering, class ended and like clock work Namjoon was by my seat. "Ready to go, princess?" He smiled and held his hand out.
I stood up, "Sorry I can't today. I have to catch up on some of the books Professor Min assigned to us." He frowned. This felt like the first time we wouldn't be around each other for lunch.
"My baby is such a nerd."
"No I'm not."
"Yes you are." Taegan said. "See you at the dorm." She chuckled and waved goodbye before heading off.
"Honesty is the best policy love." Namjoon smirked before placing a gentle kiss on my lips. I blushed, trying not to make sounds that would echo out into the room. He sighed and whispered, "Really would have liked to help you study."
I bit my lip, "Are you sure that's what we would have done?"
He raised an eyebrow, "What else do you have in mind?"
Dear God.
My heart rate went up and I couldn't probably function. I knew my boyfriend was attractive but I didn't think he would be dangerously hot.
"Could you love birds not ruin my lunch?"
I jumped, almost squealing while clutching my bag. "Uh- sorry! Bye now." I quickly pecked Namjoon on the lips and dashed out of the room.
That was close.

JUNGKOOK
The silence in the library was the most soothing thing to me. It was probably one of my favorite places in the world. Growing up surrounded with books is probably the reasoning for that.
I glanced over at the librarian's desk and saw that Seokjin wasn't there today. I frowned. I was hoping to see him today, it'd been awhile since. Weirdly enough, I felt as if I hadn't been to the library in awhile, too.
I inhaled the smell of pages tucked behind the hardcovers as I made my way to my usual spot in the back corner. It was a bay window surrounded with poetry and history books.
Either no one knew about the pretty spot tucked away in the back of the library, or everyone knew I had definitely claimed it.
I turned the corner and saw someone familiar sitting in my spot. Okay, so I guess someone didn't know that I had definitely claimed this spot.
"Joy?"
Her brown eyes peeked from behind her book to see who was calling her name. She placed her book down when she saw it was me and gave me a confused look.
"Hey, Jungkook."
"Hey." I awkwardly waved my hand once. "That's my spot."
"Mine now." She shrugged.
"Excuse me? I've sat there every day of my freshman and sophomore year."
"And have you bought the spot and named it after yourself? No."
"I should have." I mumbled.
Joy brought the book back up to cover her face and I glanced at the title.
"Didn't know you were into Shakespeare," I commented.
She said from behind her book, "I come from a rich family, Jungkook. What did you expect? Plato?"
"Plato was a great philosopher, actually."
"Don't nerd out on me." She grimaced.
I chuckled and moved to take a seat across from her. She sat with her legs tucked into her chest, arms resting on her knees and hair tucked into a bun.
Like I said, pretty.
"What are you reading Taming of the Shrew for?"
"I read when I don't want to think about other things." Joy placed her book down and looked at me. "Have you read it?"
"I've read almost every Shakespeare play."
She smiled. "Did you like this one?" She signaled to the book in her hand.
"I loved it. I thought it was pretty funny and Catherine had great character development."
"Character development? Catherine should have stayed the way she was."
"Are you kidding? She was a total snob."
"Because she was forced to marry a man just for her sister's sake! It's totally misogynistic."
"Then why are you reading it?" I raised an eyebrow.
"I just told you, I read when I don't want to think about other things." Joy re-opened the book, a clear way of trying to ignore me. "And because I think Bianca and Lucentio are cute."
I laughed. "That seems very typical of you."
"What does?"
"Thinking Bianca and Lucentio are cute."
"Are they not?"
"No, I just see you as a woman who thinks of love as like, the most important thing in the world."
"Do you not think that?"
"Not at the moment." I sighed and looked away.
It was silent for a bit, her eyes still stuck on the words in the page. I just watched her read for a moment, and in that moment, I felt as if I was watching her in a state I'd never seen her.
Calm, gentle, soft.
Captivating me. Making me realize that —
"Joy."
She exhaled harshly and dropped her book against her legs. "What is it?"
"I don't like Ezra anymore," I said in a soft tone, more to myself than to her.
"Huh?" She asked, confused.
I said clearly, "I don't like Ezra anymore."
