CHAPTER TWELVE
——————————————
THIRD PERSON
"Where the hell are we going to next?"
"Don't worry you'll see."
It was already half past seven and Joy and Namjoon had left the museum and were on their way to the next place. Namjoon was ready to torture her.
"You are not going to be able to get me to do that," Joy said looking across the lawn. "Come on, Joonie, when you said you planned something big I assumed a nice dinner!"
Namjoon laughed and continued to drag Joy towards the open field. Across the grass rocks were spread, you could climb them, hide behind them for the sole purpose of protecting yourself from...
"Paintball is not what I thought you would plan." Joy grimaced. "I put on a nice outfit for you and now it's about to get ruined."
"You don't play paintball with no body protection silly." Namjoon picked up one of the duffel bags at his feet. "This will be fun, I promise. If you win, I'll buy you a nice dinner for our next date."
"Don't be too sure about a next date."
"I'm completely sure of a next date. You like me too much."
"Unfortunately." Joy opened up the lone duffel bag on the ground finding a white suit that reached her neck, goggles, and a paintball gun.
Namjoon had put everything on and began to run away, finding a spot to hide behind one of the rocks. Joy sighed, fixing the goggles on her head and slipping on the white protection suit, trying to make sure her hair still looked okay.
Once she put everything on, she picked up the paintball gun and sluggishly made her way to a rock, yelling out, "Just so you know, I'm not going to go easy on y—"
"Fire!"
A jolting pain hit Joy's right arm. She looked over to see blue paint splattered all over the white suit protecting her.
She gasped and ran over to a rock. "Oh, you're so getting it now!"

The next few days were the most confused days of Jungkook's entire lifetime. So much so that he was behind on work and couldn't even focus in class. It wasn't because he couldn't understand it but the fact that his childhood crush was running through his mind.
Not like the usual cutesy daydreams that had his heart racing and the butterflies in his stomach doing tricks and flips.
This was the kind of mind boggling running that questioned where their relationship stood.
That kiss only made it worse when he remembers how he felt in that exact moment.
It wasn't a bad kiss.
Ezra was clearly well experienced, much more than Jungkook in that case yet it didn't do it for him.
When his mother would often visit during her busy schedule, her favorite thing to do was watch romance movies and eat ice cream sandwiches and caramel popcorn (her sweet tooth was strong). Jungkook would find himself joining with her; enjoying every second of her time before she left.
At the end of every movie she would turn to the young boy and tell him how amazing love is and that when he gets the chance to experience it, he should hold onto it.
"It's more precious than all the diamonds your father has ever gotten me."
What she failed to tell him was how long he should hold onto it. He's loved Ezra for as long as he can remember, their childhood days were the only thing motivating him to get a life of his own. Not even his grandparents could let him forget about her.
So why was he struggling so much? Why was it such a hassle for him to like the kiss?
Jungkook decided that the best thing to help him with this flunk was to go to his safe place.
The school's library.
Right after his elective, he made his way over to the largest and most assorted library known in the city. Some of the most prestigious authors come here whenever they needed something good to read.
For the most part, it was empty when he got there, safe for five or six students who wanted to get their studying in. Compared to the size of the library though, there was basically no one there.
"I haven't seen you in awhile."
A familiar voice said to Jungkook as he entered the room. He shrugged, making his way to the librarian's desk with a somber expression.
"Haven't felt like being seen, Jin," Jungkook replied, placing his arms on the desk and resting his head on them.
Jin pulled down his glasses, breathing on and wiping them. "Yeah, I can tell. You have two books overdue by the way."
Jungkook waved his hand in the air. "I'll bring them next time I come in."
"Okay, I'm ready. What happened?"
"I kissed Ezra."
Jin nodded, reacting as if it was a normal thing for Jungkook and Ezra to lock lips.
"Well more like she kissed me."
"And?"
"And I didn't like it."
He laughed aloud. "You didn't like it. Are you sure you're not on drugs right now? The potheads are really moving their business around campus."
Jungkook looked up with an unamused expression. "I'm serious. I didn't like it. As much as I like her, there was no— no spark, butterflies, whatever you want to call it."
"You've been avoiding her, then?"
Jungkook hated how well Jin could read him. He looked away, ashamed to lock eyes with someone who knew him so well. "Yes."
Jin sighed, sitting back in his chair. "Figure it out, Kook. It's not my problem."
"Then why do you act so interested?" Jungkook exclaimed, throwing his hands up. "I don't understand you. You're supposed to give me advice!"
Jin shrugged, opening a book and scanning the pages. It was obvious to Jungkook that he wasn't even reading. "You already know the advice I would give you."
Jungkook knew he was right. As much as Jin knew him, he knew Jin. He would tell Jungkook to tell Ezra that as much as he liked her, he felt nothing during that kiss and he didn't know why.
"Okay but you know I won't take that advice so give me something else. Anything!"
Jin looked up from his book. "Move the hell on." He smiled sarcastically and looked back down at his book. "You know I'm right, Kook."
Jungkook groaned but deep inside, he knew what Jin was telling him to do was, in fact, right. He should tell Ezra in case she was starting to get the wrong idea.
But why wasn't her idea of them right? Why, when they kissed, did Jungkook want to pull away? If he went to tell Ezra he could ruin their friendship... if not that then he would at least make it awkward. He shoved his head in his hands and heard Jin set his book down.
A hand was placed on top of his and another began to pat his back. "You're a smart boy, Kook, you'll figure it out." He thanked the heavens for Jin and his reassurance because that's all he needed right now.
After grabbing a book and finding a spot on a nearby couch, his phone buzzed. Pulling it out of his pocket he read the message, already panicking on what to respond with.
Ezra :)
kookie! let's grab lunch after our class tomorrow <3
He buried his face in his book, trying to read the words on the pages. But all he could think about was whether he would say yes to Ezra's request.
