CHAPTER THREE

can y'all tell who's writing what now cause i can't TEHEHEHEHEH

——————————

JUNGKOOK

The dorm was too quiet without Namjoon's loud mouth screaming my ears off. I had finished everything I needed to do and now I'm stuck here. At home. Watching Friends.

I hate it here.

"Jungkook what are you doing to yourself?" I grumbled before getting up for another fruit snack. I've been munching on them all night and ever since he left. I didn't have the brain capacity to cook anything when all that was on my mind was Ezra.

She was so close yet so far from me right now, dancing, smiling, probably entertaining the people there by just being herself. Gosh, I wish I was more confident like her. That's the main reason I'm so attracted to her. That confidence and assertive tone that'll get any man to drop to his knees.

I laughed at how ironic this whole entire thing is. How much of this is because of my childhood. Being homeschooled wasn't always rainbows and sunshines, no matter what your bank account says. For one, it sucked ass. My parents were barely home and my grandparents ruled my world.

I love them, love them more than anyone in this world but I was trapped. Like a damsel in distress just begging to be set free. It's finally caught up to me. Having social anxiety is not some walk in the park, especially when it revolves around you your entire life.

Now, this is where my inner monologue set in for a few minutes. Should I leave now or stay out of that stupidly big crowd of sweaty college students?

I chose the party.

I got dressed, which was the hardest part of it all. To find a decent outfit that didn't have Timberlands along with them was beyond imaginable. I gotta go shopping.

I decided to stick with something simple, a plaid long sleeve with my favorite black shirt and jeans. I added a black belt to it just for special effects and parted my hair to the right. I seemed about ready, looked party-ready but was nowhere mentally close to ready.

I'm gonna regret this...

JOY

"I'm regretting everything!" I shouted over the music.

"Aww cheer up, it's not that bad." Namjoon chuckled while I was questioning everything.

Here I was, standing by a table with cups filled with God knows what in it, getting ready to play a game that I've never played before.

Namjoon leaned against the table and faced me, "Think of it as ping pong."

"Don't you ever compare an Olympic sport to a game where you get drunk on purpose."

"Depending on how fast you can get drunk it'll turn into the Olympics." He chuckled and leaned in a little too close I had to hold my breath.

"You've never played have you?" He asked and I played it off by laughing. I crossed my arms and brushed my hair to the side. "Of course I have. All the time. Even had a tournament for it."

"You go, girl! Speak it into existence." Namjoon jeered with an insane amount of sarcasm while I look down at the cups. The drink was green and reminded me of slime.

"Period pooh."

"Don't ever say that."

"Periodic table."

"I'm actually gonna throw these cups at you."

"Period. No tampon."

We both ended up laughing hard, his dimples catching me off guard and the way his eyes squint while his cheeks glow. I clear my throat before tapping on the table still having no clue what we're doing besides throwing a ball in a cup.

"Alright, I guess they found a fourth." Namjoon took a quick swig of his beer before setting it down. He took his jacket off and my mouth suddenly went dry. The tattoos on his arms had me in awe. It reminded me of a black and white vintage show but with graffiti. All sorts of drawings on his arms that I just wanted to touch, find out their meanings, and why he got them.

"Close your mouth, you might catch flies." Namjoon chuckles and I try to look away but I can't. It's obvious he works out but the tattoos only make them stand out.

"Don't worry you can stare at them all you want when I take you out on a date."

I almost choke. "As if."

"Oh really? Let's make a little wager."

More like a deal with the devil.

"We lose the game and I leave you alone for the rest of the night."

"And if we win?" I ask.

"I take you out for the time of your life and get to make you smile like this all over again." He looks me dead in my eyes, hot and heavy, not even blinking while I was in shock as to what I do. They didn't teach us any of this in private school.

"Deal. Now give me the damn ball." I grumbled to ignore the redness on my face as he smiles. I don't even remember how I got dragged into this game but I sure as hell know Taegan won't be coming back to the dorm tonight. That's if I could find her, that is.

I lost her in the crowd the minute this stranger swept me up.

"Come on doll, throw the ball."

"Stick to princess, lover boy." I chuckled as Namjoon raised his hands with a smile on his face. I concentrated and almost forgot this was a competitive game, the other team on the other side waiting for me to throw.

Ping pong training doesn't let me down now.

JUNGKOOK

When I walked in I immediately wanted to walk back out. It was packed with the same people I tutored hours before this. They're probably complaining about it with their friends. I got a few stares, some questioning what a straight-A student is doing here and others trying to devour me.

I really felt out of place. I looked at the crowd by the entrance and watched from a distance Namjoon entertaining a student like usual. I looked for Ezra, maybe trying to find a reason to stay here.  That's when I started to feel cramped. The air in this room
was hot, my palms and armpits suddenly getting sweaty from the amount of people in here.

I waited, seeing if she'll even glance by me
and say hi. I turned around in slight disappointment and panic before opening the door.

"Is that Kookie?"

Kookie?!

The only person that has ever called me that is...

"Ezra!" I shut the door and turned around. I choked when I looked at the girl in front of me, glammed from head to toe in a strapless dress and a leather jacket. Her hair was so wavy now compared to when we were kids it was so short and straight. What caught me off guard was that it was colored. The color of flames, a really hot one at that.

"Am I dreaming or is the nation's introvert really at a fucking party?!" She walked over to me and pulled me into a hug. I could smell the alcohol on her but her natural scent cleared it up. Vanilla, really sweet vanilla and I was a creep for even sniffing her.

"There's a first time for everything." I chuckle nervously and scratch the back of
my neck. Then came the awkward silence. My mind was racing with a million thoughts but none came out to words.

"You wanna get a drink?" She suddenly asks and I sigh, thankful that she's still the outgoing person she is.

"If it's anything but carrot juice, I don't want it." I smile.

"Alright bunny boy."

She takes my hand and my heart almost bursts out of my chest.

Social skills don't fail me now.
