"My stunning girl!"
"Daddy," Joy said with a wide smile as her father embraced her. He let her go and she looked to her mom.
"You did wonderful, dear." The forced smile on her mother's face could be spotted by anyone, whether you were a Valentine or not. Joy shrugged at her mom's compliment before she hugged her. Once her mom let her go, Joy immediately hit her brother's shoulder.
"What the hell are you doing here?" she asked, laughing.
"Do you not want your favorite person in the world to witness a momentous occasion?" Taehyung handed her a bouquet of white roses and hugged her tight.
"I can't believe you invited mom and dad," Taehyung whispered as he hugged Joy. They both knew the hurricane that would be brought with their whole family being in one place together. If it wasn't going to be a hurricane, it would be a showdown of who could stay silent the longest.
"They'd kill me if I didn't invite them." Joy whispered back and then let her brother go. "The flowers are beautiful. My favorite color."
He smiled. "So where's the boyfriend?" Taehyung asked, crossing his arms.
"Boyfriend?" Joy's father chimed in. "I-I thought we agreed to not have sex until you were twenty-one years old. You know, you don't want to end up like your mother."
"Hugo!" Joy's mother, Isabella, slapped her husband's shoulder.
"Daddy!" Joy yelped. "Don't say stuff like that. Especially in front of all these people."
"Oh, we're fine! No one is paying attention to us." Hugo smiled at each of them.
Taehyung gave Joy the look and she sighed. "The boyfriend isn't here."
"WHAT?" her whole family exclaimed together.
"What kind of an asshole wouldn't be here for you, Joy?" Taehyung asked.
"Break up with him this instant!" Hugo pointed at her fiercely.
"I knew she'd get herself tangled up with some useless man with no economic value whatsoever." Isabella opened up her phone to look at herself in the camera.
Joy frowned. "Don't make me feel worse than I already do."
"Oh, is that the boyfriend?" Isabella pointed behind Joy and she turned around.
Jungkook was walking over to where the Valentines were, with a camera strapped around his neck and a single rose in his hand.
"No," Joy sighed. "He's not the boyfriend."
"Well the boyfriend better be ten times better than that young man or he won't be acceptable for my darling girl." Hugo stated as Jungkook arrived in front of Joy.
He looked at the bouquet Joy already had in her hand and awkwardly handed her the one flower he held.
"Hi," He said hesitantly. "I-I'm sorry. The rose was a last minute thing, and um, I totally would have gotten you a bouquet. I was just debating if I should even get you a flower."
Joy laughed, taking the rose. "It's alright. Thank you for coming."
The family watched from behind as the two college students interacted. Taehyung was nervously biting the tip of his thumb, seeing the growing feelings between the two of them that anyone could see, especially from the mysterious photographer. His sister was drilling a whole through the earth. When they hugged he sucked in a harsh breath.
It was like watching a movie with your parents and a sensual scene comes, and you feel the need to cover your eyes because your parents are there. He was calling it right now. Whoever his sister's boyfriend was, was not going to be able to keep her.

THIRD PERSON
"Shit!" Namjoon ran through the heavy rain and into the building that the showcase was in. Why did it have to be off-campus?
He was an hour and twenty minutes late, having forgotten all about the showcase that Joy continuously reminded him of. He would admit that this time, it was his fault.
He passed the elevator and instead ran up the stairs. Seeing people gathered outside of the auditorium, he realized Joy probably performed already. He forgot so late that he didn't even have enough time to dress well. Namjoon was wearing a normal tee and ripped jeans that were now wet from the rain. All he was able to get her was a single rose picked up from a convenience store down the block.
Some people eyed him, the soaking wet college student, as he made his way through the clumps of families, trying not to touch them with his wet clothes.
The showcase was done already. Everyone was out in the lobby, handing bouquets of flowers to the person they came to watch perform. Joy would probably expect a bouquet from him. He was very unprepared.
He finally spotted her, but of course she was with someone else. He wouldn't have minded who she was hugging if it wasn't his best friend.
He approached the two of them and her family, not exactly caring about his appearance anymore. "Again, Joy?"
Joy let go of Jungkook and froze when she saw Namjoon.
"Oh, darling. Is this him?" Hugo asked, disgust and concern scribbled all over his face.
"Now you're here?" She didn't even yell. All she had in her eyes was sadness.
"What are those prints on his skin?" Isabella asked, holding onto her husband's arm with a mocking sense of fear. "And he's all wet."
Joy moved her gaze from Namjoon's eyes down his wet body to the single rose in his hand. He looked at the flowers in her hand and saw she already had a single rose. He could easily guess who it was from.
"Here," He said, handing her almost the exact same rose. "Just take it. You probably expected a bouquet or something, huh?"
"I expected you to come. That's all I wanted from you."
"Well here I am. Seems like you have your own entourage though so I'll just leave."
"Why are you upset?" Joy asked. "I should be the one upset." She started to raise her voice.
"You're openly flirting with my best friend!"
"I was hugging him, for fucks sake! Can I not do that with my friends?"
"Since when were you two friends?" Namjoon's tone dropped slightly when he realized the attention they started to get from everyone around them. "From what I can remember, he was trying to get in someone else's pants."
"What the hell?" Jungkook slightly shoved Namjoon to face him. "Don't bring my business into a mess you created. And if anyone's trying to get in people's pants it's you and we all know that."
"Where the hell did this confidence come from? Don't say that bullshit, you know you wanted Ezra like that." Namjoon shook his head. "What makes you think I believe you don't think about Joy like that?
Jungkook flinched before clenching his jaw. "As if you don't?" He scoffed. "You've been a bad influence on her since she got here. Who brings their girlfriend late to class with an unbuttoned blouse and messed up makeup?"
"Child! What are you doing at this school?" Hugo grabbed Joy's arm.
"It's not like that dad!" Joy turned around to her father. "We haven't had sex yet!"
"That's not the point! I sent you to this school for an education, not to become a mess with guys who look like that!" Her father pointed to Namjoon.
Namjoon stopped there. He couldn't even say anything else. Joy immediately turned to him.
"Namjoon," She grabbed his hand. "Don't listen, he's just not used to it."
"Joy, stop." Namjoon tried pushing his hand off of Joy but she held tight.
"No, please. Don't listen, you know I love you how you are."
"You don't, okay?" He shook his head.
"Yes, I do." She nodded. "I do, Joon, don't listen to him—"
"Stop, Joy!" He yelled into her face and the whole lobby went quiet. Joy didn't flinch which made Namjoon feel a bit better about himself. That she trusted him enough.
"Don't yell at her, you bastard!" Taehyung pushed his sister behind him. "She should be yelling at you. You have no right to say anything but apologies to her."
"Tae, stop," Joy said, moving in front of her brother. "You don't know shit, okay? Stay out of my business." Joy turned to her family. "All of you just stay out of my business!" She ignored the hurt on her brother's face and instead turned back around to see Namjoon walking away.
She ran towards his direction, standing in front of him to prevent him from walking away.
"Don't walk away right now. I'm sorry, okay. My family is messed up and—"
"You tried to get me to cover my tattoos up."
"Because I didn't want something like what just happened to happen! Do you not understand that?"
"No you wanted me to cover it up so your family would accept me. If your family isn't going to accept me as I am, I don't want any part of it."
"Joon, stop, please," She pleaded, almost in a whisper. Namjoon shook his head and walked away.
Joy stood there silent as everyone in the lobby had their eyes on her. She was not reveling in their attention anymore.
Jungkook tapped her shoulder and she looked up with tear-stained eyes. "I'm sorry, this is my fault. He got upset because of me."
Joy shook her head. "Nothing that happened here was your fault."
Jungkook tried to smile for her. "I'm still really sorry for what happened. I'll see you, okay?"
Joy sighed. "Sure." Then he walked away.
"You see, Hugo. I told you not to let her leave the house just yet." Isabella said.
Of course Joy's family had followed her.
"Mom, stop. She doesn't need it from you guys too." Taehyung defended with a straight face.
Their mom scoffed before hiding behind their father.
Joy turned around to face her family. "I told you to stay out of my business so why are you still here—"
"Joy Valentine, I did not pay extra to this school just for you to meddle with boys! Do you understand how expensive it was to get you into this place?"
She paused. "What?"
"Dad." Taehyung looked at his father in disbelief, but Joy could tell her brother knew what their father was talking about.
"You payed the people here extra to get me in?" She asked in absolute disbelief.
"Honestly, it's time she knew." Isabella chimed in. "She should know she never would have made it in without the help of her family."
"Mom, stop it." Taehyung looked at his mother straight in the eye and she shrugged.
"You can't live without us, Joy. You're too dependent on our help," Her mother said. "Just come back home, dear. You don't need this scholarship when we could already get you around the world—"
"Shut up, mom!" Joy yelled, covering her ears. "I never should have invited any of you."
Joy immediately turned around and began walking off, ignoring the calls for her made by Taehyung. She knew he wouldn't run after her, anyway. He'd be forced to calm down their mother and then be the one to give her a call instead of her mom.
Once she got outside of the building she waved down a taxi. The campus dorms were a few blocks from here, and there was no way she was going to walk in the rain.
Once she got inside the cab, Joy pulled out her phone and immediately dialed the only number she could think of at that moment.
The other side of the line stayed silent before her best friend asked, "You figure out why you're here yet? If not, I'm going to hang up on you, Joy."
She sighed. "Yeah, I did, Tia. Daddy payed the school for my damn acceptance letter."
