CHAPTER SIX

JOY
"Did you bring me to a soccer field?" I snorted, looking towards the field of grass in front of me.
At opposite ends of the field were soccer goals, each painted red on the outer corners. Floodlights surrounded the field, shining light onto the grass.
"Yup." Namjoon shut the trunk and I turned to him. He tossed a green and white soccer ball in his hand. "I'll be teaching you one special thing about me. You can show me one special thing about you. That's our date today."
"So one special thing about you is soccer," I said, nodding and eyeing the soccer ball. "I'm not too bad at it myself." I shrugged.
"Really, princess? I thought you were all dresses and tea parties." Namjoon smirked.
I gasped, taking a fake offense. "How rude of you to assume things about people you barely know."
"Hey, I know you damn well."
"Really? Name one actual fact you know about me."
"You act like you're not enjoying this but oh, are you so excited to be with me right now," Namjoon said, wrapping his hand around mine. "To the soccer field!"
I rolled my eyes, smiling at his childishness. "You're right, actually. At first look, I thought you were someone I didn't want to get involved with. You proved me wrong, though."
"Yeah, princess?"
"Yeah." I snatched the soccer ball from his hand and placed it by my feet. "Well, I know you're supposed to kick the ball with the side of your feet."
"That's a start." Namjoon chuckled and stole the ball with his foot and began to run down the field. "Stop me if you can! I'm heading to your goal!"
"Show off!"

"Joonie," I said, staring intensely into his eyes. "This is the most important time of your life so pay close attention." I looked him dead in the eye, never losing focus.
"Got it." He nodded and we both sat up straight.
With my hands, I made a fist, Namjoon doing the same. I looked at him to start and then we did it.
"Rock, paper, scissors, shoot!"
I threw out my hand in the paper shape and him a rock.
"Whoo!" I threw my hands up in victory. "We're going to get chicken."
"I had that for lunch yesterday."
"Uh, who just won the game fair and square?"
"We should have decided a winner through the soccer game, not rock paper scissors."
"For the record, it's an equally strategic game."
"It's not."
"Yes, it is," I said, getting into the driver's seat of the car. Namjoon handed me his keys.
"Don't crash Diana." Namjoon held onto the dashboard of his car.
"Diana?" I asked, unbelievably. "You named your car?"
"This is my baby!" Namjoon sat back in his chair. "I'm offended."
I laughed and started the engine.
After we got our chicken, we decided to eat in the car. I ordered a lemonade to go with mine, Namjoon a beer.
"So, you're still supposed to share something special with me," He said before taking a bite of his chicken.
I hummed, thinking about something special I could share. Thinking about it, there weren't many special moments in my childhood. Just memories of parties and what dress I wore each year on my birthday. My parents being gone most of the time made a little number of happy childhood memories. Most of it being lonely until Taegan.
"It doesn't have to be big. I just want to know about things important to you."
I smiled, thinking of something. "You'll find out in due time."
Namjoon thought a little, then shook his head yes. "So what I'm hearing is a future second date?."
I laughed. "That depends. Are you willing to share something special with me?"
"I'm more than willing, I'm just wondering if you're ready for all this." He playfully wiggled his eyebrows and leaned in.
"Oh I'm more than ready. Soon I'll replace Dena."
"Her name is Diana," He pointed his beer in my direction. "And if you wanted to get down and dirty you could have just said so."
"In your dreams—"
"You already are," Namjoon winked at me and I found myself smiling like an idiot, a stomach-full idiot.
***
We went back to his place, considering it was only fair since he was in my dorm this morning.
Namjoon opened the door to his dorm, letting me in first then closing it behind him. I'm surprised the place was clean considering this soccer-loving, mountain man ate like a toddler (which I find adorable).
"Jungkook's home," Namjoon said, looking down at the shoes by the door.
"Is it okay if used the bathroom?" I asked.
"You're more than welcome to and if you need help just scream my name."
I giggled. "No thanks."
I slipped off my shoes and walked down the hall to Namjoon's room. Well what I assumed was his room.
His dorm looked similar to Taegan and mine. A small apartment size, two bedrooms, and a bathroom for each. A living room and a kitchen with a small eating area — although I'm sure everyone ate in the living room or their rooms. Either way, it was a nice set up to spend a school year in.
I stepped into Namjoon's room, looking around for awhile purely out of curiosity.
His room was cleaner than I had expected; color coded binders for all his classes and shelving to divide them. I was impressed.
As I looked around further I didn't really see any family photos. Mainly photos of nature, taken extremely well and caught at every good angle. The world looked better through each photo. I got somewhat excited thinking of what type of photo he would take of me.
How I would look through his eyes in the future.
There was one specific photo hiding behind the shelves that seemed to poke out. As I reached out to grab it I heard a door open.
I stood up, startled, and turned around.
Oh gosh.
The man was tall, Namjoon's roommate I assumed. Jungkook, I'm sure was his name. Why is his roommate showering in his bathroom?
His set of muscles were out in plain sight, all he wore was a towel around his waist, covering places I dared not to think about. His face was sort of baby-like, but in a way that could also be dangerous (in ways such as this very moment). What stood out most was his hair.
Oh wow, did it suit him. Cherry red strands of wet hair sat on his head, styled to be an undercut.
I'm surprised I was able to examine this much because it felt like only a few seconds before we both let out a, "AHHHHH!"
He screamed again on his own, running out of the room with his hand over his towel as if it would fall off.
"Kim Namjoon!" I heard him yell. "What the hell did I say about calling me before you bring people over?" He shouted. I could tell he tried to be quiet about it, but it wasn't exactly working.
I tried to get the sight out of my head, while also trying to contain laughter. I walked out of Namjoon's room, preparing myself for the conversation I was about to have.
All I could think about was how much laughter would be leaving Taegan's mouth when I tell her today's events.
