CHAPTER ONE
hi & welcome :)

JUNGKOOK
I walk into my dorm restless that afternoon from a full day of work and tutoring college students. Apparently they didn't learn anything from high school since they can't even remember a simple thing as the quadratic formula. It was the usual people that showed up.
The hippies who wanted to smoke and learn about life.
The ones who really, really just struggled with work.
And my least favorite, the frequent college girls who kept asking for my number and sex.
It was a highly uncomfortable experience for me but I declined them in the nicest way possible.
"Sorry, I'm not a virgin."
"I have hereditary AIDS."
Alright not my best way to get rid of them but then I end up running off like usual. I don't blame them for looking at me weirdly after. I'm the smart kid with no street smarts. The kid that purposely stayed in that bubble because I would be disowned if I wasn't.
I looked around and it looked exactly how I left it. Cartons of orange juice splayed all about with the caps not even on them. If I wasn't so tired right now I would have picked them up. I walk straight to my room and ignore the other room to the left of me.
I don't even change as I fall face first into the soft mattress and let my muscles relax. Finally, I could at least get a moment of silence and sleep without any—
"TIMBERLANDS!"
Spoke too soon.
"Jungkook hurry up and get out here!" Namjoon shouted and barged his way into my room. I didn't even look up as he dragged my body off the bed and held me by my collar. "Wake up soldier! We have parties to attend." He smirked.
"There are times like this..." I pinch his cheek, "Where I wished I left your drunk ass in street." The man himself laughed while I yawned and reached out to my bed. Instead I'm hauled over his shoulder as if I'm his bride.
"Love you too Timberlands but this is the party we have to go to."
"You said that about the last party...and the one before that...and before that...and before—"
"Ezra is gonna be there."
"HUH!?" I shouted and choked up at the same time. He puts me down and now I'm standing in front of him in shock.
"E-E-Ezra? She's going to a party?"
"Yep. Her friend somehow convinced her to go and you my good friend have a one way ticket to pound town."
"Firstly, we're not in the eighties so don't ever say that again and secondly, Ezra is going to a party?!"
I was still in disbelief.
Ezra. The only girl I've known my entire life is going to a party. It was surprising because she hates those things. She wasn't a party person and speaking from experience, she wasn't good with crowds.
"Jungkook you've known this girl for how long and you still haven't made a move."
"Moves are only made in chess and she's not a pawn. She's my only friend..." Namjoon glared at me. "—besides you...to know about my life outside of this place. Hell, she's even seen me naked once."
Namjoon threw his leather jacket off and walked around the coffee table. "That was when you two were kids, Timberlands." He said and picked up the orange juice before chugging it. The sweat all over his body meant either he went to soccer practice or some other gross thing.
"She's a grown woman and you're a grown man...in a lot of areas. She has hormones and you have morning wood. Are you getting what I'm putting down?" He smirked and leaned forward.
"Gross but you have a point." I walked around and sat across from him. I spaced out for a while and thought about it, about what it would be like to...No. Nope. That's so gross.
Yet, I wouldn't mind the idea of being with Ezra. Her face quickly flashes in the deepest depths of my brain; she's laughing while looking at me and suddenly I feel my lips part into a grin. I can hear her calling my name and telling me how much I've grown and that...
she loves me like a brother.
My smile fades and my entire mood is ruined. It's like I hurt myself on purpose. I pull myself together and stand to my feet.
"Wait no, you were just smiling. Jung—"
"I'm not going." I cut him off. I didn't do it blatantly but just enough to make him shut up but even that still didn't work.
"But you—I thought—Jeon Jungkook, you're gonna lose something right here and it's not your virginity."
"What the hell is up with you and my virginity?" My voice was raised slightly and I catch myself before I go into a frenzy.
It's not like I'm upset with him or anything but this idea of losing your virginity is patent. I'm so over it. Exhausted actually and my own roommate won't shut up about losing it.
"It's a vibe."
"Virgins like you have the most dick game so put it to use!"
"If I have to dress up as a girl I will."
Just ew.
I clear my throat and sigh. "Sorry Namjoon but I have college students to help who are just trying to do what they came here to do and that's to pass and be successful in life." I shake my head when he gives me this look of disbelief and lazily stretches his arm over the couch.
"Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be doing the same thing."

JOY
"Taegan where are you!? Call me back when you get my phone call."
That was the twentieth voice message I've sent to her. It was hot out and everyone was staring at the freshmen with boxes upon boxes by her side. It literally looked like I was playing Tetris. I do have to say that the few encounters I have here were interesting.
The occasional hippies telling me weed is good for the soul.
The other freshies just as confused as I am.
And the all time worse were the horn-dogs asking to get in my pants when they can't even keep it in their own.
Knowing myself and how highly intelligent I am, my excuses were up to par.
"Can't be late for my lesbian convention but thanks!"
"My dad's the president so I wouldn't do that if I were you."
Up to par alright.
I decided to call again. This time I was putting my foot down because at this point, I'll take my luggage and leave this place. This academy wasn't my first choice anyways but its writing program was elite, the best of the best and that's what I only wanted.
That's at least what my parents told me.
"Taegan Rivera Monroe if you don't get your ass right here I'll—"
"—you'll what? Kick my ass with your red bottoms? No honey, daddy spent too much money on those."
I look behind me and long and behold there she is, smiling with her butterfly locks and chocolate skin.
She's also my best friend and someone who's in a considerable social class lower than me. Our families were always in touch. Her father was a tailor and mother loved to cook. My father won the lottery and invested his money wisely. When we finally got the lavish life he always wanted for us we took it. My older brother, on the other hand, wanted to give me all the princess dresses I wanted.
As manly as Taegan's father is, that man could make a pink bow better that anyone my father had hired. He made sure to make a dress fit just for a princess. They had a family business, his beautiful wife making dresses for others as well.
With every fitting I had, Teagan was in the back searching for frogs to catch. It still grosses me out, but if that frog hadn't jumped down the back of my dress, I wouldn't be standing where I am right now.
We have totally different looks. I was the elegance and class people longed for. Taegan was the street girl people wanted to be friends with. Well too bad society, she's all mine.
"Do you know how many times I've been calling you?"
"A good amount." She shrugs and leaned against one of the suitcases.
"Nu-uh. I guess not enough from the way you're leaning back Mrs.Big shot. How the hell am I gonna get these bags to the dorm if Rey isn't here?"
"The same way every freshmen did it princess. You know, sometimes I forget you're spoiled." She chuckles while I stare at her in all seriousness. There was no way I would get these bags in that building without breaking a bone.
"Oh, before you attempt to run away—"
"Hahaha very funny."
"We have Professor Min's class together." I smiled at the end of my sentence as Taegan eyed a group of girls walking past us. Her gay ass eyed them before turning back to me struggling to lift the first box.
"Apparently his class is hard to pass."
"Got it. Oh and don't stay up waiting on me tonight. I got invited to my first party here!" Taegan said squealing like we're in high school.
"I wasn't even going to."
Yes I was.
"Have fun though and daddy's money won't bail you out from the cell you end up in." I smile and her jaw drops slightly as she starts to laugh. "The only confined space I've ever been in was a closet." We both end up snorting and laughing our asses off.
I always enjoyed it when it was only the two of us. We've tried friend groups and they only turned out horrible. So, we kept it small. Our one true duo.
"Alright now, get to stepping princess." She pointed at all the luggage.
"Ugh don't remind me." I picked up the first box and literally almost busted my ass. The minute I heard giggles from all around me, the anxiety kicked in.
This is the worst first day ever.
