Side To Side
"So how did you get handcuffed to each other again?" Namjoon asked both the speechless translator who was having a mental breakdown and her idol roommate who was trying to stay calm but was failing.
Ash huffed out she could not believe this was happening to her.
Trapped with Jimin.
Chained to him.
"Okay here is what happened,"
Flashback~
It was a warm summer morning the birds were chirping, her face was cleared and Daejung did not bother her at all. It was a good day. Until Jimin came in the room with a box he had received from a fan.
"Look a fan sent me a gift," He showed her unwrapping the small well-wrapped box. He pulled out a silver handcuff, confused he questioned it.
He observed the object dangling from his index finger. "Why would she give me handcuffs?"
"Wow, that looks so real!" Ash hopped off the bed to inspect the shiny device. "I wonder if this is the same kind the police uses,"
Furthering their speculation Jimin latched it on his wrist giving it a few twist and tugs.
"It feels real to me,"
"Really?" Ash curiosity peaked rather dangerously as she took the other one and closed it on her wrist winching when it clipped too tight.
"This is so cool!!" She lifted her hand up and marched around the room dragging along her new prisoner.
He giggled at her. "I didn't know these kinds of things excite you,"
He pulled out a red sticky note under the tissue paper. "Oh, there's a note in here," Pouting his lips when he could not understand the cursive English writing.
Ash took the note from him. "Here let me, it says 'Dear Jimin Oppa, you said you wanted to be a police officer when you were younger so I thought this handcuff would be a cool souvenir. Love you lots and you mean the world to me. Stay strong!'
"Aw, that's nice of her,"
"Wait there's more, 'P.S Don't actually wear it for there is no key for it...'"
The last part of that note left her in puzzled, alarming silence.
No key.
No key.
No key.
Her mind read that line over and over again until there both gawked at one another and broke out in a screaming frenzy of panic.
"Wait wait wait! Are you sure you read that right?!"
"Yes, I'm one hundred percent positive!"
"Oh, God..." Jimin searched through the box again stripping out every piece of red tissue paper for any drop of a key. When it was fruitless they both panicked again like lost puppies calling for the leader.
End of flashback~
Suga scoffed. "Is this a joke?"
"Honey! I wish it was!" She squeezed her eyes shut.
"Why would you willingly put handcuffs on without checking for a key first? Ash, you are better than that," RM shook his head in disappointment.
"Yeah could see Jimin doing that, but not you, Ash," Said Jin.
"yAH!"
"I know I was just so excited to see one in real life...what are we doing to do?"
"Have you tried pulling on it really hard?" Jungkook took their tied hands to try out the idea.
"Yes, it hurts a lot meaning it's the real thing and will not come off by force-Ow!"
Jungkook's bunny eyes darted up at her pained face. "Sorry,"
"Okay we will have to go and find a key after the interviews, you guys can't be seen by anyone so stay here and don't leave the room. Got it?" The leader spoke.
They both nodded in unison. The guys left for the day and weren't returning until three, thus Jimin and Ash had a good few hours on their own.
"I'm so sorry for this," She kept her eyes on the floor.
"Don't be, I should have looked to see if there was a key in the first place,"
"Okay, so what should we do now?"
"Wanna watch a movie?"
They decided on Spider-Man Homecoming, though they have already seen it, it was only to past the time together. What could they do in this situation? She was working for Jimin and it's not like they were bbfs he only knew her for less than a few weeks.
A person has now invaded her personal space and there was nothing she could do about it.
They can't do what lovers do- certainly not. Given this awkward situation and being this close to each other honestly put her on edge. Probably because of the restriction. The fact that she could not leave if things got too uneasy was nerve-wracking.
Halfway through the movie, Jimin's phone started ringing.
Jimin picked up his ringing phone to see who was calling, they hoped it was the guys saying they found a key.
"Oh it's my mom," Ashley muted the television.
"Hey, mom how are you?"
He once over her. "No, I'm hanging out with my translator,"
"Yes, that one,"
"You want to talk to her?"
He looked up at her and shrugged. "Okay, I'll put you on speaker,"
Ash shot him a confused look before speaking. "H-hello?"
"Hi, there darling I hope things are well with you,"
Surprised by her blunt kindness, Ashley reciprocated. "Yes thank you for asking,"
Obviously, she had to keep the part where she was handcuffed to her son a secret.
"I wanted to thank you for taking care of Jimin and his friends, I watch some interviews and you are very smart and pretty,"
"Oh it's no problem, actually they take care of me most of the time,"
"As they should, Jimin has told me a lot about you,"
Does he talk about me?
"Oh really?" She raised a brow and Jimin's poker face.
Probably complain that I snore or give him trouble.
"Yes, he told me how funny and smart and good and kind you are,"
Oh
"Well, mother I'll talk to you soon," His voice hardened.
"Look at this boy trying to get rid of me already, call me if you need anything, Ashley."
"Thank you, Miss Park, it was lovely talking to you."
"Same here, dear."
Jimin hung up the phone and threw it at the end of the bed thankfully it didn't fall over.
"She seems really sweet, but I can't agree with all the things she said about me,"
He leaned in near her. "Why? You're a good girl, right?"
She did the same, staring into his brown eyes. "No I'm a bad girl,"
That
Came
Out
So
Wrong!
Why did I lean in?! Why did I say that?!
"Uh I mean I'm not all good I have done some bad stuff in the past,"
"Didn't we all," He said combing back his hair. "So about what she said-"
"Thank you,"
"Huh?"
"For telling her about me," Sighing she pulled the covers to her torso. "I didn't really have a mother or mother figure growing up so it was nice to hear that from her,"
"So it was only you and your father?"
"Well kind of, my father had to work two jobs so at night I stayed at Ren's house he and his dad took care of me,"
"That's how you and Ren met?"
"Yeah we lived on the same street, his mother died when he was young so I never met her, sorry this is a lot for you to take in,"
"No it's okay, it helps to talk about it, I want to know," Sitting up he crossed his legs. "You've been through so much so young,"
"Yeah, it could make or break you,"
"Can I ask what happened to your mom?" Jimin realized it was a tough topic for her to talk about due to the sadness casting on her expression.
"She... left my dad for another man,"
"I remember they were fighting and a man was at the door, she took her suitcase with her and walked out, I tried calling out to her and ran up and hugged her and tried pulling her back inside the house." Pausing Ash took a moment to catch her breath, she could feel her throat closing up.
"But she looked at me...in a way, I will never forget. There was no sorrow on her face no feelings of shame, only anger and hatred. She looked at me like I was the biggest mistake she had ever made. She swatted me off like I was some kind of disgusting creature. My dad and I spent the whole night crying."
"Crying for her to come back,"
Mommy! Please don't go!
"Crying for feeling like we did her wrong,"
Mommy! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'll be good!
"Crying because a loved one spat in our faces and left us."
Why Mommy!?
The salty liquid flooded her burning eyes until the last horrid memory of her mother's face sent the tears spilling down her cheeks.
Jimin embraced her rubbing her back and ruffling her hair.
"You're not a mistake, you are the greatest outcome of her and she is too stupid and blind to see that." He held her sobbing frame, it broke his heart to see her like this. So weak and so overcome with heartache.
After her crying spell, they ordered room service and indulged in bowls of ice cream. Talking about each other, what else can you do when you're handcuffed to someone. Best get to know them a bit more.
She learned a lot about Jimin as well. Her speaking up about her issues inched him to do the same. Not family issues per-se but the problems he faced with himself.
"I beat myself up a lot, call it perfectionism if you want but I'm almost never satisfied with my efforts,"
"The members try to see me to it, say that I did great and I shouldn't be too hard on myself but sometimes it goes in one ear and out the other,"
Her tear-stained eyes studied the melting strawberry ice cream in the bowl. She had heard about his strive for perfection on social media. It was sad. It made her worried for a moment.
"You should try to see it from their perspective. I mean if you see yourself the way others see you then you might find some contentment." Her eyes lit up as if she had found the answers to help him.
"Look at it this way, if it hurts you to see your friend struggling and dying to be the best, wouldn't it hurt you as well?"
"You start to feel empathy, you try to help but they turn away from the truth, then you fall into a pit of worry and helplessness. Thinking that your efforts to help your friend was not enough."
She spooned the melted ice cream around in ponder, searching for the right words.
"So think about the friends who love and want the best for your well being. Cause sometimes heeding and listening to every thought of yourself can be very dangerous."
He didn't say anything, she knew he understood her and where she was coming from. Sometimes in life, you don't mean to hurt the ones you love. Even if you think what you do in your life doesn't concern others. It does.
When you have people who care about you, you have to capability to hurt them. It is the knowledge of knowing you have hurt them- can help them and yourself.
An abrupt knock on the door followed by a voice startled them.
"Jimin? Its Daejung may I come in?"
"Oh, crap." Ashley grabbed the bowls and spoons and shoved them under the bed quietly.
"Hide," Jimin tugged the covers up as she slid down on her stomach, he made sure she was well hidden under the thick comforter.
"Jimin?"
"Yes! Come in!" His voice rattled. Keeping calm and cool he watched when Daejung walked in.
"Namjoon said you were feeling sick,"
"Ah...yes it appears a naughty bug has latched onto me," Ashley stiffen under the blankets.
The older man set the tray down on the nightstand. "Well, I advise you to eat this chicken soup and take the recommend dose of cold medicine,"
"I will thank you," Jimin's clenched his fists into the softness of the sheets. Praying for him to leave.
Daejung eyes circled the unkempt room but stopped at an unusual object peeking out from under the bed.
Bending down and picking up what was Jimin's and Ash's nightmare -if she could see. A black lacy bra pinched between two fingers.
"Why is this here?"
Taking a deep breath he relaxed and got his heart rate back to its normal tempo.
"A fan gave me that," He said coolly.
"I that so? How classy." He remarked scrutinizing the undergarment.
"Not to worry, I will dispose of this right away," He checked his watch. "I have to leave you now, eat something and get some sleep." He nodded his head at him and exit the door.
Ashley gasps out for air when the door clicked shut. Her usually messy hair was in more disarray.
"You weren't underwater you know,"
"With that guy in the room, it always feels like that. What were you guys talking about?"
"Oh um I hope you have an extra bra," He nervously passed his hand on his neck.
"Why?"
"Cause the black one is on its way to the trash,"
"WHAT?!"
"He saw it and it's not like I could ask for it back without seeming like a total pervert,"
She rolled her eyes. "Yeah, I'm sure that is pushing boundaries with you,"
"What was that?"
"Nothing! Man, that was my favourite bra too,"
"But you don't need a bra, your boobs are quite small,"
"I will strangle you!" Springing on him she smacked him upside the head with a fluffy pillow.
Taking the soft hit he chuckled. "At least buy me dinner first," Her thighs settled on each side pinning him down to the mattress. To keep her upright she thoughtlessly moved her hands to his chest, loosely resting as if they belonged there.
"But you're half right, I don't need it for the support but I do need it cause I have nipples and I don't really feel like showing everyone how cold I am,"
"Like how you are now?" The corner of his mouth quirked up and his eyes trailed to her heaving chest. Her face tinted to a feverish red. She was now aware of how comfortable she was fastened to his lap.
Taking this advantage he flipped her over so he was on top of her, the same position he was in. Lowering himself to her ear he throatily purred.
"Or are they hardened for another reason?"
"You..." A flush crept up her contorted face. Mirroring her previous moves he held her down with his thighs, pressing his centre on hers. Teeth tearing into her tongue and cheek she desperately stifle any noise her body wanted to expel.
"Cat got your tongue, Kitten?"
Silently begging for freedom from the metal clasps for the awkward embarrassment was starting to settle in. The rattling of the doorknob spiked throughout the room beckoning Jimin to climb off her just before anyone could see the suggestive scene.
"We're back!" The members chimed in one at a time.
"Oh thank god!" Ashley stood up fixing her hair and avoiding all eye contact with her soon to be ex-prisoner.
"What did you guys do all alone?" Taehyung smiled lifting a brow.
"Oh you know watched a movie, talk about buried pasts and present struggles and have my bra taken away by Daejung, you know normal Tuesday,"
"Daejung... took your... bra?" Jhope tilled his head in confusion.
"How? Why?" Suga asked as Namjoon unlocked the handcuff.
"I'm free!!" She sang out rubbing the red circle on her sore wrist.
RM laughed handing Jimin the key for save keeping. "You can tell your bra thief story over dinner. Sound good?"
"Yes~"
They all left to get cleaned up, Jimin placed the handcuffs back in the box along with the small key.
Placing the cuffs in the top drawer he turned his gaze on her.
"Today was fun but..." A lustful smirk suddenly flickered on his lips. "Next time let's get handcuffed in a different situation," He shut the drawer and left for the bathroom.
Ash could have taken that nebulous statement in many innocent ways yet her brain did a whole 180 to a naughty viewpoint. Flopping face-first into the pillow, she bit down rough on her bottom lip as the inescapable lewd thoughts and imagery were now staining into her mind.
This wasn't right. The wonders of her and Jimin and that stupid handcuff was anything but professional. She promised Ren she was going to take this seriously and follow the rules.
Rule number 1. No inappropriate touching- Rule Broken.
Having broken one rule she was not about to break anymore. From now on she committed to be a professional, no-nonsense employee. For Ren's sake.
And for her own sake as well.
