I lost a friend
Loki burst through the door of my Asgardian room, making me fall most ungraciously off my bed and most likely breaking the lock. He wore a cheeky smile and a casual(or at least as casual as it got for him, for me it looked as if he was going out to dinner with The All-Father himself.) green cloak, underneath the cloak something was moving around and Loki looked like he was struggling to suppress the urge to throw it at me.
"You look awfully cheerful today..." I grumbled, sitting up from the spot on the floor where I fell.
My dress puddled around my legs on the floor and Loki put out a hand to help me, only after he seemed to have tamed the thing under his cloak. Gingerly, I took his hand and he pulled me up. However, I only stumbled into his chest. Loki chuckled and as I took a step back I felt something weighing down my dress. As I looked down, I found that what hung on my dress was a.... baby dragon?
"Wh-what... what is this, Loki...?" I cooed unhooking the reptilian from my dress and holding it to my shoulder like a baby.
Loki's smirk disappeared and he suddenly looked bewildered, opening his cloak and looking to find that the baby dragon the he had been holding was truly in my arms now.
"You little shit...." He growled at the dragon and it hissed at Loki, which made me laugh.
"Loki, why have you brought me a baby dragon?"
"An early Birthday present-"
"Thank you!!" I smiled like a fool and hugged my best friend, who hesitantly hugged back.
"In a few years, when she's all grown up you can ride on her back...but-"
"In a few years, we can fly around Asgard!" I cut him off accidentally and his facial expression grew more and more sad as time ticked by.
Finally, he stopped me we sat on my bed, "Y/n... The reason why this is an early present is... is because I am being put-put in the Asgardian prison for my damages upon Midgard..." He whispered.
"Loki... I- They can't!" My hands fell from the baby dragon and into my lap, making the creature scramble to get on my shoulder.
"They can.. and they'll be here to take me any minute now... I shouldn't have even come here.. but I had to come say goodbye and give my best friend her present..." He lowered his head, black hair covering his face.
I threw my arms around his neck, hugging him tightly, tears running down my cheeks as well as his.
"I'm sorry, Y/n..." He whispered as Asgardian guards broke through my door, grabbing Loki by the arms and dragging him out.
He managed to say one last thing before they took him, "In a few years from now, when you're up in the sky flying on that dragon, remember one thing: You have been and always will be my best friend..." And then he was gone.
Loki was gone.
Gone.
