16. Explosion
Before I start, I just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you for 1.1k reads! I've never been so happy :) I love all all :) ♥ To reward all my loyal readers, I've typed up quite a long chapter. Enjoy!
"Jafaris Caligus! Not a very industrial planet, if I'm honest, they're big on the environment here. No cars, no roads. Just this!" The Doctor annouced, opening his arms out wide and introducing Clara to the planet Jafaris Caligus. It was huge, but beautiful, with vast fields of lilac grass and a deep blue sky like crushed velvet. The trees had pitch black leaves that swayed in the breeze like graceful feathers, the bark a shining silver.
"It's- beautiful..." Clara gasped in awe. It was amazing. "But when is it daytime?"
"This is daytime. It's the funny thing about Jafaris Caligus," He explained. "You see, the atmosphere around the planet makes the sky this colour, the way your skies are blue. At night, the flowers and trees release a non-toxic gas that reacts with the atmosphere of the planet."
"What happens then?" Clara asked.
"Spoilers." The Doctor grinned, rushing off up a hill in the direction of some taller trees.
"Doctor! Wait for me!" She yelled, trying to catch up with him. By the time she was near the bottom of the hill, he was already at the top gazing at the strange sight in front of him.
"What? This isn't right!" Clara was confused as to why he was complaining when she saw it. A huge bar. A huge space bar, with flashing neon lights and many orange people in skimpy skirts and leather bras.
"Doctor, I thought you said this wasn't an industrial planet."
"That's the thing. It isn't an industrial planet. It's practically famous for it's environmentally friendly ways."
He wandered off to an orange skinned alien of some sort, with long, platinum blonde hair and yellow eyes. Clara guessed it was a girl. When the orange creature spotted the Doctor, she snarled slightly before faking a smile. She reminded Clara of one of those fake girls she used to go to school with, the ones that acted as if they were perfect.
"Excuse me, but could you tell me where exactly are we?"
The alien chuckled. "Dear Mokk, man, where have you been these past few years? Everyone knows this place!"
"Bit of a hermit. Same with my friend over there, Clara. Hermits United. We meet up every 10 years and talk about caves. Quite fun, for a hermit." He clarified, remembering the last time he'd said that to someone. God he missed Martha during times like this.
The alien smiled seductively when she spotted his beautiful female companion, winking at Clara. "And this friend of yours, is she single?"
"Never mind that. Where are we and what year is it?"
"My dear good fellow, you are in the great city Okiulus!" The alien confirmed. "I believe it to be the year of Mokk 4075. Now, since we've chatted for a bit, allow me to introduce myself. I am Keirdara Rafolla of the great Mundranes." The words rolled off her tongue wonderfully, like a nightingale.
"Sorry if this is a bit- personal - but are you male or female?" Clara interjected, entranced by Keirdara. She didn't know why she suddenly was infatuated with her.
"I am female, obviously. Honestly, you are strange people!" Keirdara giggled, taking Clara by the hand. "Come, let me show you my home."
Clara agreed, following Keirdara. The Doctor grumbled, following behind.

"This is it." Keirdara grinned, presenting Clara to her home. It was a huge dome, at least 5 metres tall.
"Keirdara...this is wonderful." Clara smiled back.
The Doctor placed his hand on Clara's shoulder. "Clara, we really should be getting back to the TARDIS."
"You go back. I'll come back in about 10 minutes. I'll be fine, honestly." She assured.
"Clara-"
Keirdara placed her hand on the Doctor's chest, pushing him away. "Did you not hear the beautiful female? She said she will come back later. Now leave Doctor, before I call the Righteous Justice Force of Mokk." She threatened.
"Fine. Don't blame me if anything happens, though, Clara." The Doctor stormed off, straightening his bow tie.

When he reached the bar again, he felt some sort of familiarity. Like something was missing.
Then he realised.
He remembered the Mundranes, from one of his incarnations.
All it took was some sort of flirting, any form of affection, winking at Clara in this case, and then that was it. The person was completely mesmerised by the Mundrane. They then mate, and then-
And then the Mundrane comsumes their mate.
Clara was in danger.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"So, sweet Clara..." Keirdara began, pouring a glass of green liquid into 2 wine glasses. "Tell me, do you have a girlfriend?"
Clara laughed. "I don't usually date girls, although this one time-" Before she finished, Keirdara dropped one of the glasses in shock.
"Are you okay?" Clara asked.
Keirdara cleared her throat. "You mean to tell me that you are...heterosexual?" Keirdara asked astonished.
"Yes- Well, I mean, that's how people reproudce. A man and a woman-"
"A man and a woman being together is absurd! It says so in the great book of Mokk that it is a sin for a man and woman to be in love! What in the right mind would make you want to be straight?"
Clara grew angry. "People can't choose their sexuality. They can't help it. I knew a girl like you once. You see, where I'm from, people are awful like this to homosexuals. The girl was telling me that it was weird to be gay. And I punched that girl. I can't believe people judge others because of sexuality, whether gay, straight, bisexual, pansexual, asexual, all of them!"
"It's disgusting to be straight!" The alien cried out. "I think people like you should be put to death! Still, I suppose a creature as sexy and beautiful as you is worthy enough for me to mate with, even if they are an idiot."
Clara's eyes grew wide as she darted up from the sofa. "What do you mean mate? What have you done to me?!" Keirdara approached Clara, closer and closer, licking her lips and ripping the front of Clara's blouse open so her bra was showing.
Suddenly, the door flew open. The Doctor was standing in the doorway, sonic in one hand.
"How dare you burst into my home like this!" Keirdara roared. "Who gives you the right to intrude?! I swear by Mokk I'll have you hanged for this!"
The Doctor's glare was icy and cold, like his voice. "I do not need permission to save my loved ones." The Doctor grabbed Clara's hand. "Run, Clara. And don't look back."
And so they ran. Faster and faster, until they reached the fields of lilac grass.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Clara, we can stop here. They can't enter the fields."
"What. The. Heck. Was. That?!" Clara panted, exhausted from running.
The Doctor straightened his bow tie. "That, my dear Clara, was a Mundrane. Very odd species. You see, because of complications in their genes, Mundranes are all women. During evolution, they mutated, meaning that they were unable to give birth to boys. You see, to create males, you need an X chromosone and a Y chromosone." The Doctor used his left index finger to represent X, and the right finger to represent Y. He put them together. "When they evolved, the Y chromosone was wiped out" He took away the right finger. "Like I said, complicated. That was many years ago, though. Basically, it's the girls that do all the intercourse and stuff."
"Then why can't they enter the fields?"
"Mundranes aren't from this planet. They're from a galaxy called Mundrana, a group of small planets formed into one empire. Mundrana was destroyed during war, so they moved to an uninhabited planet, which ended up being Jafaris Caligus. They're allergic to the grass you see, the lilac pigments can kill them. Over there..." He pointed to the direction of the space bar, "is where the grass stops. That used to be a meadow full of red and green flowers."
"Oh. Right." Clara nodded. "So do we still get to watch the atmosphere changing, or are you insisting on taking me home?"
"Yes, of course." He smiled. "Oh, and by the way, you're welcome."
Clara smiled, lying down on the beautiful lilac grass. It was warm and soft, like a pillow. The blades tickled the uncovered parts of her skin. The Doctor lay down beside her.
"Thank you, Doctor." Clara sighed, snuggling into his chest as he wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
The Doctor smiled, kissing her hair. After a few minutes, they heard a hiss of gas, followed by an explosion of light in the sky. The stars glittered a lime green colour, and Clara saw this as an oppurtunity to catch the Doctor off-guard and reveal her true feelings.
She kissed him hard and passionately, slowly slipping her tongue between his lips and starting a dance. He kissed her back with just as much force as her hands tangled in his hair and his arms wrapped around her waist.
"I love you." Clara whispered.
The Doctor smiled. "I love you more."
