Star Butterfly felt like an idiot, no, she is an idiot.

Who was she to think that the coolest boy in Echo Creek, Marco Diaz, would ever like her, just one of the many girls who fell at his feet. What a joke!

Marco Diaz is the coolest, nicest and most handsome high schooler in Echo Creek Academy. Star is from Brooklyn, moved to Echo Creek. The Butterfly and Diaz Family has been friends for years, so when Star moved to Echo Creek,
she lived at the Diaz Household, so she got to talk to the guy every second of everyday. At first, she thought that Marco was just another dumb, arrogant jerk. But as time passed by, she eventually fell for the attractive boy.

They had become the best of friends, with the occasional teasing. One day, Marco asked Star to be his date at the School Dance, and like a fool, the young girl said yes.

But what a fool she was to think that, of all people to like her, Marco would.

Now, she walking home, her dress drenched from the rain, her heart more and more with each passing minute.

Music could be heard from the four corners of the room. Pink, blue, and neon lights shined below the happy go-lucky students partying, chattering and mingling with one another.

A band was playing on stage, both students and teachers could be seen together. It was quite fun.

Marco had come to the party with Star Butterfly, the new transfer student of Echo Creek, as his date to the School Dance. To be honest when Star had first  started living with him and his family at the middle of November. They didn't had a good start, in fact, Star had hated him from the moment they met, while he, in the other hand, didn't know why.

But as they continued to see each other at home and school, they slowly became friends. They hang out, teased one another, and Marco developed feelings for the blonde.

Star was dressed in a red formal dress that hung elegantly on her shoulders, stopped just below her knees, white flats were adorning her feet. Her blonde hair was flowing down her back in curls. Her lips were painted light pink, her cheeks were a lovely red blush. In short, she was beautiful. Probably the most beautiful woman Marco ever laid eyes on.

Marco wore a elegant royal blue suit, black slacks and shoes with a matching blue tie that made him more handsome.

The School Dance was actually where he was gonna confess his feelings to her. It was perfect. The young teenager had it all planned out.

They would dance, and have drinks together, laugh with one another, and eventually go to the balcony where he would spill everything.

It would've have been perfect, if it weren't for Jackie, his former girlfriend.

"Here, take a seat." Marco gestured to an empty chair.

"Thank you." Star blushed, silently thanking the stars that it was dark.

The pair had just arrived to the Dance. Decorations were placed around the room. A familiar tune was playing at the speakers.

"Would you like some food? Or anything to drink? Um, juice, coke? Or a soda?" Marco guessed.

"Coke sounds good." Star replied.

"I'll go get them. Just stay here. I'll be back before you know it." Marco promised.

The young boy smiled at his date before going to the direction of the food area. Star fiddled with her fingers, her heart fluttering at the simple gestures. It made her heart skip a beat, and made her insides all mushy.

The young girl looked around at the dance floor, and began to wonder if Marco would ask her to dance to him. Just thinking about it made her blush a deep shade of red and her heart flying to cloud nine.

A few minutes had passed yet there was still no sign of the handsome boy. Star stood up the chair, thinking that Marco had probably picked out too many food and probably needed her help. He has quite the sweet tooth.

As she walked to the direction to the food area, she saw a small crowd gathering around. Curious about the situation, Star pushed her way through.

But what she saw felt like a cold stab at her heart.

Jackie Lynn Thomas was kissing Marco Diaz.

Star could hear her heart shatter into a million pieces. She was so embarrassed.

Embarrassed to think that someone as cool and amazing as Marco would actually fall for someone like her, a girl with a broken family and weird personality.

A huge lump formed at her throat, and tears welled up in her eyes. It was too much. All too much.

Marco suddenly pushed away his ex-girlfriend. He turned to see Star staring right back at him.

"Star--" He started but the young girl turned around and ran away from the scene.

Slight tremors passed by his spine as he watched the amazing girl that be fell in love with become heartbroken. He felt his heart break at the sight of the most important girl in his life run away from him.

He moved to follow her but was stopped by a delicate hand on his forehand.

"You're seriously not gonna follow her, are you Marco?" Jackie Lynn asked.

He turned to her with anger and hatred swirling within his brown orbs. If it weren't for her, Star wouldn't be crying. If it weren't for her, maybe he and Star would probably be together by now. He clenched and unclenched at nothing, feeling the slight burn of his fingernails pressing against his palms.

But it wasn't Jackie's fault. It was his. If he just wasn't such a coward and  gathered the courage to tell Star how he really felt about her, then none of this would have happened.

"Yes, I am." Marco shoved her hand on him.

The crowd parted as he made his way out, following the broken hearted girl.

Star walked in the rain, dretched, her tears mixing with the rain. Her blue eyes were red and full of sadness.

It felt like her whole world is destroyed.
Her dress stuck to her skin, her hair is a mess. She didn't have the strength to wipe away the tears. The only courage she got was the idea of getting away from the boy whom she knew, all along, that was bad for her. She knew from the beginning that Marco Diaz was just trouble. Now look where it got her, her heart got broken and drenched wet.

A faint voice shouted her name in the rain. It was a familiar voice of someone that she didn't have the guts to face right now. She ignored it and walked faster.

But with how unathletic she was, Marco caught up with her. He placed a brown hand on her arm and turned her around to face him.

The sight of the fine object of his affections miserable and heartbroken made his heart break even more. It made him want to shield her from all the pains and mean people who've hurt her.

"Star, I'm sorry, I--" Her hand lashed out, his face cracked sideways. A harsh red mark lay across the boy's cheeks. His eyes were wide as saucers.

Star mumbled something against the rain. New tears could be seen, shining at the beautiful blue orbs that Marco loved and adored so much. He opened his mouth but Star beat him to it.

"I hate you!" The words went straight to the his heart. It stung, bad. Marco had never thought that anyone would say that to him, much less Star Butterfly. Her hands turned into tight fists. She pounded against the boy's chest, hatred, anger and pain swirling in her eyes.

"I hate you. I hate you. I hate you." Her voice was slowly drowned in the rain. More and more tears slid down her fair cheeks. Marco held her wrists, tears filling his eyes as well.

Another sob escaped the young girls throat, pain and misery could be heard from it miles away. Slight tremors traveled down her body, both from the cold and anger. It was truly heartbreaking.

"I thought you were different..." Star mumbled against the rain. "Was it fun? To make me believe that you were really a good person and make me fall for you, then break my heart? Was it?!" She screamed at him.

"Listen, Star, what you saw wasn't true. Star, I..." Marco stumbled upon his words, scared of rejection. He clenched his hands as he struggled to find the right words. "I don't like her. I like you."

Silence hung between them. The pair just stood and stared at each other.

"Star--" He started but was cut off.

"Shut up." Star whispered. She trembled    her hands fisting and fidgeting with her dress. "Its not true." The young girl refused to believe the boy.

"It's the truth. I like you!" Marco shouted against the rain.

"I said shut up!" Star screamed.

"Stop lying to me, Marco. Do you actually think I'm that stupid?! I made a mistake in believing in you, I'm not making the same mistake twice... You're a liar and a cheat! I hate you, and I never want to see you ever again!"

Star shoved his hands off her wrists, and turned her back at him.

"I guess when you like someone like Jackie, you do these kind of stuff, huh?" Star mumbled.

Her voice was soft and, barely audible, but Marco heard it, embedded it into his brain, like he did with every other thing she told him.

Shock struck his face, and without skipping a beat, wrapped his arms around her small figure. He buried his face at the back of her neck, tears sliding down his cheeks.

"Don't...." Marco started.

"...You can hate me, forget about me, or call me names, but don't tell me deny my feelings for you. You're the one I like, and no one else." Star was frozen. She could hear the truth and love dripping in his words.

Marco stifled, and turned her around. Glassy blue eyes stared right back at him.

"In my eyes, you are precious to me. You don't have to like me back. Just don't accuse me of liking someone else."

A moment passed by, rain drops falling down on them. Star waited for a laugh, or a joke, searching for any sign of deceit in his brown eyes but there was none, only honesty and love.

"A..Are you telling the truth?" Star asked, silently hoping that it was. That the boy that she liked really likes her and isn't lying.

Marco nodded. Star jumped into his arms, clinging to his neck as fresh new tears fell, but they were happy tears.

"You better be serious, Marco Diaz cause I believe you." Star said.

"Good, trust me." Marco replied.

Star's heart fluttered at the confession the boy gave. A warm feeling spread inside her. Marco Diaz liked her, Star Butterfly.

They parted and stared at each others eyes. A strong feeling pulled them together, and they kissed with shattering enthusiasm and fervor.

Star felt Marco's gentle hands slide up her back, holding her tight, like he was scared that it was all just a dream. Her body folded into him like a missing piece fitting with another piece, perfect and right.

They pulled away with a gasp. Star was blushing a deep red shade, while Marco smiled at her reaction.

"I guess, I like you too.' Star confessed. Marco produced a grin, and lifted her, spinning her around, laughing away.

He brought her down and pressed his forehead to hers.

"I guess, I do too." Marco shrugged teasingly.
