8: Jumps
Jade's POV
We were following the girl back through the forest. She was walking straight backed and tall, like she owned the place. Her long brown hair hung over the hood of her light blue jumper. I stayed close to Luke, not entirely trusting her. She looked fine, but there has to be a reason she was called Fury.
Luke was thinking along the same lines.
"Look at her swords," he whispered to me.
Two diamond swords made an X on Fury's back. They were polished and very sharp. If what she did back at the village was anything to go off, they weren't just for show.
"I don't trust her Jade."
"Neither do I. But right now, she's the best we've got."
"Why?"
"Luke, she has a house and she might have equipment. Stuff we can use to survive out here. We have nothing but our new weapons."
I bumped into Zip and almost fell over. When I righted myself, I saw that we had all stopped at the base of a massive tree. I couldn't see the top and the trunk was probably 20 blocks square. At least. It had no vines dangling and the first branch was very high up.
"Well, come on then," Fury said.
Then she climbed up the tree like a spider. She was several blocks high before she realised that we weren't following her.
"Don't you guys know how to climb?"
We all shook our heads. Fury sighed in annoyance.
"Fine. Just wait here."
She continued climbing up the tree. When she disappeared in the leaves, Tim started talking.
"I don't like this guys, we're way too exposed."
"She could easily snipe us," Alex said, picking at his bowstring.
"Or she could throw that sword of hers."
Zip raised her hands. '"Hey, why would she want to kill us? If that's what she wanted to do she could have let that skeleton kill us."
"Yeah, what did she call that thing? An elite skeleton?"
"I've never heard of them. And I'm wondering how she has."
"You don't think she's.."
"Working with the mobs? Possible, but not likely."
"Zip, she's out here, probably alone and the mobs are all over the forest. She could be working with them just to survive. It's happened before."
I looked up as Fury called out. A few seconds later a vine dropped. One by one, we climbed. It was slow going as we all didn't climb vines very often. When Tim finally rolled over the edge, it was almost dark.
"Okay," Fury said, rolling up the vine. "We're going to jump over the tops of the trees."
"WHAT?" I yelled. "Why would we do that? Why didn't we just walk on the ground?"
"Because the mobs are there. They don't come up here, it's the safest place. I'll show you the way." She walked over to the edge and jumped, landing in the next tree. "Come on guys. It's easy, just run, jump and land. One tree at a time."
We slowly made our way across the tree tops, helped by Fury. I could see that the slow pace was really annoying her, but she stayed calm. That kind of elevated her in my view. But I still didn't trust her.
"Almost there! Come on guys you're doing well," Fury called out. Up ahead was another big tree. It didn't look special, but I figured that that was our goal.
She jumped to the next tree. I followed, but my foot got caught on something and I tripped. I screamed as I started falling the hundred or so blocks to my death.

*Evil laughter*
I feel so mean.
