Herobrine stood still, eyeing Fury warily as she faced him.
"What are you going to do now Herobrine?" she asked.
Zip, who had retrieved Fury's other sword, walked up behind her, put her hand on her shoulder and whispered in her ear.
"We need to get the potion to the stone on the right," she whispered, turning her face from Herobrine and giving Fury the sword.
"Got it. And Zip? I'm sorry."
"It's okay."
Fury left Zip and walked closer to Herobrine. He backed up slightly and Fury laughed.
"What? Are you scared of a girl?" she asked, throwing contempt into the word girl.
Herobrine growled but didn't answer.
"Come on then. Fight me," Fury said, going into a fighter's crouch.
Herobrine mimicked her and they circled, each assessing the other. Zip watched them carefully. She knew that she should probably go and put the potion on the stone but she couldn't let Fury get hurt. She also couldn't understand why Herobrine was being so careful. She wondered what was different about Fury. Then she remembered Herobrine's words.
"I knew that if you made it to the End, one of you would break. And I couldn't have her here. She could have ruined my plans."
Fury ran at Herobrine, striking him at the head with one sword and in the chest with the other. He blocked the first swig and dodged the second. His other sword was still in Alex's leg, who wasn't able to move because of the pain. Herobrine tried to hit Fury with the point of his sword but Fury caught it and moved her other sword to hit him.
And so it began. Fury and Herobrine fought each other, each moving so fast it was almost impossible to properly see what they were doing. And Zip realised why Herobrine didn't want Fury to be here. Because she had lived in the forest since she was little, she was faster and stronger than normal. Her reactions were finely tuned from years of surviving on her own. Fury was the only one who stood a chance against Herobrine.
But as fast as Fury was, she was still human and her strikes became slower as she grew tired. Herobrine, as he said earlier, wasn't human, and as his strokes became faster, Fury was pushed back and a few minutes later, was kicked across the room. She landed heavily but still managed to keep hold of both her swords. Herobrine stood, breathing rapidly, his arms cut and his chest bleeding.
"What are you trying to do girl?" he growled. "Do you think you can possibly defeat me?"
Fury stood up and looked him straight in the eye. "I know that the chances of me defeating you are very low. But I have let you push me around for far too long, and I'm not going to let you hurt anyone else."
Herobrine raised his eyebrows and smirked. "Oh? You're not going to let me? You're not giving me permission? Well get this girl; I don't need your permission!"
He then spun around and attacked an unwary Zip. She yelped and quickly blocked the stroke. Herobrine instantly struck again, Zip only just managing to deflect it. Fury looked around quickly as they continued to fight. She knew that if she started fighting with just her swords, Herobrine would beat her and hurt Zip, so she needed to do something new, something different, something unexpected. Fury saw Tim, slowly standing up while wiping his bloody nose. She also saw Jade rising from the wall and she had an idea.
"Jade! Sword!" Fury yelled as she ran past him. He chucked his sword to her and she grabbed it, running to Tim. "Tim, give me a boost!" He nodded, put his axe on the ground and made a foothold with his hands. Fury positioned herself so that Herobrine and Zip were behind Tim. One of her swords were on her back and in her hands she held her second sword and Jade's sword.
Fury ran and Tim boosted her into the air. She yelled for Herobrine's attention and threw both of the swords; one in a curve around the room and one straight at Herobrine. He raised his sword to deflect the sword that was thrown and Fury unsheathed her second sword, rolling as she landed and swinging at Herobrine. The sudden movement caught him unawares at first but he quickly recovered and the two began fighting once again. Zip joined in, doing short, sharp moves under Herobrine's defence. Tim, who had picked up his axe, also tried to help, but the movement of throwing Fury had reopened the cut in his arm and he couldn't use his axe very well. Luke was slowly standing up, clutching his slightly bleeding chest. Jade, after seeing that Luke was okay, ran over to Alex and helped him with the sword in his leg.
Fury and Zip fought Herobrine, Fury keeping an eye on where the sword was as it curved around the room. She had only tried this once before, and she was praying that it was going to work. As the sword came closer, she put her back to it, shielding it from Herobrine's view. It came up behind her and just before it was about to hit her, she jumped straight up and Herobrine caught it in his chest.
"AAAAARRRRGGGG!" Herobrine bellowed, stumbling back. Fury and Zip paused, expecting him to fall, but he didn't. He simply pulled the sword from his chest, grunting slightly as blood began to flow from the wound.
"Nice try," he growled. "But I'm not fully human." And he turned and threw the sword at the nearest person.
"LUKE NO!" Jade screamed as the sword caught his brother in the chest. Luke crumbled like a ragdoll. Jade left Alex and sprinted to his brother's side, beaten only by Tim who was closer. He cradled his brother's limp body in his arms, crying. It was hopeless.
Fury felt tears come to her eyes but she pushed them away. There would be time to mourn later. She saw that everyone was distracted and she nudged Zip softly in the ribs and put her head close the Zip's ear.
"Zip. Grab the potion, we need to finish this," she whispered. Zip nodded her tear-stained face and quietly ran over to Alex. She whispered to him and he nodded, pulling the potion out of his jacket. He involuntarily cried out as he moved his leg accidentally. Herobrine turned and saw the guilty Zip holding the potion. He started running towards her.
"ZIP! THROW IT!" Fury yelled, running closer to the stone. Zip nodded and threw the precious potion. Fury jumped up, caught it in mid-air and threw it in the direction of the stone. Herobrine drew back his arm to throw his sword at the bottle but Fury landed and tackled him to the ground.
The bottle flew through the air and landed on the stone, the glass shattering and the liquid inside spilling. The colours of the stone flickered rapidly and smoke wafted off it. The flickering colours became dimmer and eventually, the stone became black. The curse was undone.
"NO!" Herobrine yelled, throwing off Fury and standing up. He stared in horror at the stone then glared at each of the group: Alex on the ground, Zip standing beside him, Fury getting up, Tim kneeling and Jade clutching Luke's dead body.
"I'll be back humans," he spat. "You haven't seen the last of me."
And he disappeared.
Sorry Luke, it had to happen.
There is one more chapter and an author's note after that. I highly suggest reading the author's note.
