15: Fury steals some horses

Tim's POV

Everyone woke up at sunrise, had a quick snack, and then started walking again. The weather had cleared up thankfully, but it still wasn't pleasant. Fury disappeared soon after we set out but Wolf stayed close to Alex. Alex didn't seem all that happy about the pairing.

We ate lunch as we walked. The scenery had changed so instead of seeing nothing but grass, we were seeing nothing but trees. The trees blocked out most of the sunlight, but sunbeams reached the forest floor here and there. Out of the silence came a deep rumbling sound of many hooves. The sound grew louder as the animals came closer.

"Uh guys? What is that sound?" Luke askedworriedly.

"It sounds like a lot of animals running." Zip unsheathed her sword.

The sound got louder and I started to see things in between the trees.

"I think it's hor...."

I was interrupted by several horses skidding to a stop just beside me. I stumbled back and fell over. On the back of the tall black horse at the front was Fury.

"Where'd you get those Fury?" Jade asked, walking up to a chestnut coloured horse and patting it.

"From a farmer. And he's not very happy about me borrowing them, so I suggest we hightail out of here!"

We scrambled on to the horses and galloped off, moving much faster thanks to our 'borrowed' rides.

"Hey Fury, how far do you think we are?" Zip shouted above the thunder of hooves.

"I honestly have no idea," Fury shouted back.

"Oh, brilliant!"

"Well, if you see a giant mountain, it's a good indication that we're getting close," Fury said sarcastically.

We camped for the night then kept riding the next day. Only an hour after we set out, the tip of the mountain came in view and by midday, we were at its base. On the left was a path up the mountain and on the right was a path that went down into the valley. I peered down that path, trying to see the bottom of the valley but the fog made it impossible.

"We're going in that?" I asked.

"Well, it's that or the mountain." Fury pointed up. The top of the mountain went through the clouds and it was covered in snow. As I watched, a few rocks tumbled down.

"I'll take the valley thanks."

"Okay, then let's go." Fury urged her horse down the valley path with Wolf by her side.

Luke raised his hands. "Woah, woah, shouldn't we wait until tomorrow morning before we go down there?"

Fury kept going but looked over her to answer. "That's way too cliché. And we've still got half the day left. We'll be on the other side by dinner time."

We followed Fury down into the valley. As we went further in, it became harder and harder to see. After several minutes, I realised that I couldn't see Alex in front of me.

"Alex? Where'd you go?" I called out into the fog.

No one replied.

"Guys? Are you there?" I called again.

"Tim?"

The voice sounded like Zip, but not quite. It sounded younger, more childlike.

"Hello?" I called again.

"Tim, it's me."

I gazed into the fog at the left of the path. A little girl stepped out. She had shoulder length blond hair and piercing blue eyes. I knew her.

"Hanna? Sis?"
