14: We forgot the beds
Alex's POV
We had set out on our adventure hours ago. The rain started soon after we left and it hasn't stopped yet. We were all miserable and wet.
And cold.
"All right I give up. Let's just make camp guys." Tim dumped his pack on the wet ground. Luke did the same and pulled out planks. He and Zip build a crude shelter while Tim, Jade and I got the rest of the camp set up.
We lit the fire and sat around it, dejected due to the weather. A rustling noise drew out attention and Fury walked out from behind a tree, Wolf by her side and beef held in her hand.
"Food!" She looked at us, all huddling together. "If anyone's hungry in this stupid weather."
Wolf barked.
"I know you're hungry Wolf, you're always hungry."
Wolf barked again.
"No you can't have more."
The dog growled.
"You can threaten me as much as you want, you're not going to get extras."
Wolf whimpered and whined. Fury sighed in defeat.
"Fine. But will you please shut up? You're making a scene." She threw a piece of beef in Wolf's face. He didn't seem to mind, and ate it with gusto.
Fury came over, sat under the shelter with us and started cooking the meat. "Sorry about Wolf's language guys. I'm trying to get him out of the habit but he keeps arguing with me."
"Really?" Luke asked sarcastically.
"Yeah. I remember this one time he meet a lady wolf. Notch, she out cursed him so bad. It was absolutely awesome and so vulgar at the same time."
Everyone laughed. Fury just smiled and winked at me. I was very glad she had come along. Not that we had any choice to say no. She basically told us she was coming at sword point.
We all ate and just talked about stuff. We didn't talk of the village, or Fury's past, or the trip ahead. Only about small things like our favourite food, funny stories and music. Jade showed off his green and grey headphones, Zip fell asleep and Wolf started chasing his own tail. Eventually, when the moon was high in the sky, Jade stretched and yawned.
"We should probably go to sleep."
I looked around. "You know what we didn't bring?" I asked. "Beds."
Tim smacked his head. "I knew there was something else."
"Doesn't matter. Just sleep on the packs." Fury put her head on Wolf.
Because we didn't all have a nice warm dog to sleep on, I used ta pack as a pillow. I didn't have a jumper either. But despite being very uncomfortable, I fell asleep quickly. And I dreamed.
I was standing in front of a massive Nether brick castle. There was lava surrounding it, Ghasts guarding the top of the castle and Wither skeletons guarding the gates while zombie-pigmen manned the walls. My dream zoomed in and I was walking up the castle steps. The big obsidian doors opened before me, revealing a large entrance hall decorated with skulls, swords and flaming black torches. I walked though the hall, past skeletons and pigmen. Something was calling me, and I had to find out what it was.
I continued walking through the Nether castle, up many steps and across hazardous bridges. I was closer now, but I didn't know what I was closer to. I slowly approached a tall tower and went up the stairs. There was a bolted iron door at the top, but it creaked open at my touch. I walked inside, dust flying into the air with each footstep. Nothing happened. Then two spots of light appeared and everything went black
When I woke up, I didn't remember having the dream.
What are the lights in Alex's dream?
