Classroom Aggravation

Zenitsu really doesn't want a tutor, but from the looks of things, he doesn't really have a choice now.

This is why he likes Agriculture more than Art because at least he excels when it comes to gardening rather than art.

"What did I say about depth Zenitsu?" Their art teacher, Giyuu Tomioka suddenly speaks up, as he leans at the side of the table and stares down at the blonde's piece. "Gaaahhh!" The blonde jolted upwards in his seat, gaining the looks of his 3 other friends at the table and a few people at the other tables. "T-Tomioka-Sensei! I didn't see you there!" Coldly he stares down at the younger boy's drawing than at him. "You need to work on your depth more, things get smaller far away along with lighter."

"I-is that go?"

"If you keep doing this then you'll have to stay after school to get your grades up,"

"R-right! I'll try my best to do that again,"

The teacher nodded, "Good," then promptly walked away to his desk.

Sadly sighing he looked up from his sketch paper and at his friends, about to speak until he spotted what Inosuke was doing.

The inky-haired teen had snorted at him, widely smirking at him as he leaned onto the palm of his hand.

"Oh, wipe that smirk off your face! Don't act like your any better than me!" His smirk grew impossibly wider. "Oh I am," And then he dug into his book sack grabbed a folder, and pulled out the progress report they had gotten a month ago which and pointed towards the Art section of it, and tapped the overall grade.

"97 A," He slowly mouthed with a growing smirk. A month ago they had gotten their progress reports, Tanjiro, of course, had the best grades out of all of them, Nezuko coming in second since with her brother being a grade above her had its gifts, then you had him with even grades, then Inosuke who's grades were all over the place, except the highest one was in Art and the second-highest was in Music. While he had a 75 C, it was really shameful and how he had Inosuke of all people being better than him.

God, this was why he liked Agriculture because Inosuke wasn't in it, also he grew up gardening so technically he was guaranteed success when it came to the subject.

With a sigh, he ignored Inosuke's comment and slumped back in his chair crossing his arms with a frown. "It's not fair, how come he's always scolding me and not the rest of you," He pouts and sadly stares down at his drawing and then stomps his foot against the floor. "Not fair,"

Tanjiro looks up from his drawing paper, pointing his graphite pencil at him with a solemn expression. His lips twisted slightly as he leaned forward. "He's just doing his job Zen, and he's not scolding you he's just giving you criticism, and fair criticism at that. He knows more than the rest of us,"

"You're just saying that because you're his favorite student!"

Tanjiro audibly gasped, "I am not!"

"You are too!"

"Not!"

"You are too!"

"I am not!"

"You are!"

"I. Am. Not!"

"YOU. ARE. TOO!" The blonde shouted leaning over the table with a vein popping out of his forehead.

"Zenitsu Agatsuma!" Their teacher suddenly yelled, swiftly standing up from his desk, almost completely out of character.

Everyone froze and a thick heavy silence clouded the room. "...Shit," He quietly whispered, slowly craning his head towards the teacher's desk. He could feel everyone starring at him and hear Inosuke trying to stifle his laughter. "See me after class," Giyuu frowned with his arms folded over his chest.

Zenitsu felt his heart and stomach drop, and he distantly heard Inosuke snickering. "If you keep laughing like that you'll be joining him Hashibira," Inosuke immediately shut up and Tanjiro clamped a hand over his mouth for extra precaution. Nezuko blinked and slowly slid down in her chair.

Tomioka turned towards the rest of the class who were all staring at me, his frown deepened. "Get back to work, you'll be assigned a project next week so it's best if you finish your work now rather than later." Then he sat back down at his desk and got back to work on his computer.

Oh, he was so fucked right now that he was unbelievably amounted of fucked, and the deafening silence that now filled the room told him exactly that.

In the tense silence that had befallen the classroom a small rap against the front door broke it. Giyuu swirled in his chair and faced towards the door as it slipped open to reveal a blonde and red-haired teacher, the history teacher next door, Kyojuro Rengoku.

Quietly, he peeked his head into the room looking around with quirked brows before settling on the art teacher with a concerned look.  "Is... Is everything okay in here? I heard yelling and I wanted to make sure everything was okay,"

"It's fine, Rengoku," Giyuu coldly responded with a blank look.

"Are you sure? Because it didn't sound-"

"I am fine Rengoku, nothing I can't handle or that you need to concern yourself." He suddenly snapped, tightening his grip on the hand of the chair. Kyojuro in response held his hands up in false surrender. "Okay, okay, I'm next door if you need me though,"

"I'm aware,"

"Alright then, see you at lunch hour Tomioka," The art teacher hummed in response swirling towards his computer and got back to work as the front door slide closed behind him, and somehow the mood managed to get even tenser. Everyone silently agrees to work quietly with the low click and clatter of the keyboard filling the room.

As they work, Zenitsu sees Tanjiro pull something out of his bag and then write on it, he looks up at Tanjiro who was slowly sliding him a sticky note without looking up from his paper. Swiftly looking around he grabbed it and cradled it in his hands and silently read the message.

'You're fucked,' the note said, and really, Zenitsu couldn't help but agree.

Personally, Zenitsu thought this hour of Art class would never end because it sure as hell seemed like it. The clock slowly ticked down, and he swore it was ticking backward the last time he looked at it too. Eventually, just as he finished his drawing the bell loudly rung and the class was filled with everyone packing up their stuff and getting ready to leave. Their teacher didn't excuse them from class, they left at the bell and didn't have to be excused as long as they cleaned up their mess, it worked. Slowly but surely, the blonde packed up his stuff as everyone else quickly packed up theirs. He really didn't have the energy to pack it all up, so he slowly packed up his stuff, hoping to converse some time before he got scolded or whatever was coming up next.

As he was packing up, Inosuke slammed his hand on the desk, catching his attention. The raven-haired teen grinned at him as he leaned forward towards him. "Good luck!" Inosuke quietly whispered to the blonde, Tanjiro then lightly hit his shoulder with a scowl. "Stop acting like Sensei-Tomioka is going to kill him!" The red-head looked back at him with a soft look and placed his hand on the blonde's and gave it a reassuring squeeze. "You'll be fine Zen, don't worry about it, if you need any help in the class just know I'll help you." He nodded and whispered out a small 'Thank you,' Tanjiro shrugged. "It's no big deal, I'm happy to help!" Then he walked off, trailing behind Inosuke who happily ran out of class.

Walking through the front door with his sister in hand, Tanjiro turned toward the blonde and waved, Nezuko followed in suit. "See you later Zenitsu!" Then they ran off. Cupping his hands over his mouth, he yelled. "Save some food for me! Don't let Inosuke eat it all!"

"Then don't be late!" Inosuke yelled back peaking his head into the doorway then running off laughing. Zenitsu silently cursed under his breath and slumped into his seat, this wasn't the first time this happened, Inosuke had gotten him in trouble before, and sometimes the two of them had to stay back together but other times it was just him who stayed behind.

He laid his head against the wooden table. His bad luck was the stuff of legends. He hears his teacher get up from the desk and start walking towards him and he can feel his doom approaching him. He hates this, hates it so much. He wants the floor to just swallow him whole and die, but as shown, luck hates him.

He hears the footsteps stop at the table, then hears a distant voice."You're close to failing my class, if your grade gets any lower you'll fail,"

"I know," He muffledly acknowledges. "And you've been having problems keeping up in class,"

"I know,"

"Is something going on?"

"...What?"

"Has something happened... At home?" The teacher cautiously asked tilting his head. Zenitsu froze, then snapped back to his senses, sitting up and vigorously waved his hands, stuttering. "What- no! Everything's fine at home, it's pleasant actually!"

"Okay... Then what's going on?"

"I have other classes,"

"You excel in agriculture, but not in art," Giyuu thought out loud, "Because I've gardened since I was a kid, it's not that hard to understand, really!"

"You should get a tutor," He prompted, "What?"

"If you don't want to stay after school for lessons then you should get a tutor, Tanjiro or Inosuke should suffice if not you'll have to stay after school."

"Is it really that easy?"

"If you improve that is after school isn't off the table."

"O-okay then! I-I gotta go to lunch though so bye!"

Tomioka sighed as he watched the teen skitter out of the room as his footsteps grow noticeably distant. He shakes his head and slinks out of the room. Today just isn't his day, is it? The hallways have started to grow noticeably quiet as everyone leaves for lunch, the lower floors of the building grow louder as students' chatter fills them. Truthfully, he isn't in the mood to go to the teacher's lounge downstairs, but that's where his lunch is and he's really hoping that Uzui didn't eat it again and make his day almost impossibly worse. He sighs again, he probably did, god he really didn't want to go get order out right now.

Snapping him out of his daze, Tomioka'ss eyes widened as he suddenly feels an arm be thrown around his shoulder. He looked up slightly and spotted his next-door teacher, Kyojuro, he would scowl at him, but it was practically impossible to do with how much happiness he radiated, so he could only settle with a half-hearted frown. "Ah, we just keep bumping into each other don't we Tomioka?" Kyojuro laughed while patting the slightly shorter man's shoulder.

Tomioka cocked his head to the side resisting the urge to curve up his lip into a half-smirk. "Our classes are next door?" He said, "Yet you'd be surprised how much we barely interact, I think I'd like to change that! Wouldn't you?"

He shrugged, "What is this really about?" Rengoku held up his non-occupied in feign surrender. "You caught me, of course, you would. I'm not sure why I expected one of the teachers from here wouldn't,"

"I told you I'm fine Rengoku," Giyuu shrugged off Kyojuro's arm but he just put it back on his shoulder. "Are you sure? I don't think I've heard you yelled in the 5 years we've worked together," Giyuu gritted his teeth, "It's fine, Rengoku, just trust me on this,"

Kyojuro sighed and scratched the back of his neck, giving the older man a solemn smile. "Okay then if you say so," Patting him slightly on his back and then pushing him forwards with the tips of his finger. "but just know if something happens you can talk to me about."

Giyuu nods and stalks off towards the teacher's lounge downstairs, he really is not in the mood to talk about it.

A/N: Zenitsu is still the morals officer btw. And Giyuu and Kyojuro interaction because they deserve it.

Fun facts:

-Sensei Urokodaki runs a program over the summer where he teaches watercolor lessons, both Tanjiro and Giyuu had attended them, when he was younger Giyuu attended them with both Sabito and Makomo.

-Sabito and Makomo are alive, where they are? You'll never know until later.

-Tsutako is alive too.

-Shinobu is generally happy, she still has anger issues but she's better, the same with the rest of them.

-Giyuu is better when it comes to social interactions in this au.

-Mitsuri always asks Obanai for help when it comes to demonstrations in her plays or musicals, and occasionally Tengen.

-Doma is a substitute teacher and a weird one at that, he also stars on tv shows occasionally.

-Kanae, Shinobu, and Kanao do not like Doma one bit.

-Tengen once tried to show a trick and made the smoke alarm go off and they had to evacuate the school.

-Muichiro is not a teacher but he is a student.

-Everyone is just living at least a better life in this au so they might be slightly different here as shown above.
