Quoting the Books
(Blinky x Human!Reader) Edit: Drawing by me
Peace. That's what the library radiated. You smelt the relaxing scent of old leather-bound books, felt the delicate papers in your hands and the quiet rustle of pages. But that wouldn't last long, not with the company that was soon to arrive through the sewers, like usual. You look up and smile, you could hear the scarping of the pipes and the sewer cover in the men's restroom. A small smile played across your lip.
"Blinkous Galadrigal," You say softly but the echos of the library carry your voice ", Is that you?"
You hear him trip and fall before he can call back out to you. You neatly fold the corner of the page you'd been reading and then shut the book, placing it smartly on your desk. It was the norm, he'd broken in only once before, but after that? He was a guest, maybe he was something more. You heard the steady scraping of stone against the wood panel floor of the library.
"Ah! Yes!" There it was his steady response ", It is I! I apologize for my tardiness."
"We don't have a schedule, Blinkous."
"Ah," He sighs stepping into the light ", But I like to be on time for our pleasant meetings."
You smile and shake your head, sitting down and opening your book once again. You shake your head and remember the book you'd grabbed for him earlier. You opened your desk drawer and grab the thick book, you debated whether or no to toss it to him. You stand again and hand the thick book to the six-eyed troll, his cold stone hands brushed against yours. Just for a second, he wrapped his finger around yours.
"I found this book for you," You say to him leaning closer towards his face ", I really think you'd like it."
You know that there is a stupid smile on your face, a smile a human would never be able to draw from your lips. Blinkous was no human, yet still, he was humane. You adored that about him, even if you hadn't admitted it, but you would someday. His strong stone finger continued to hold yours, even though you'd let go of the book seconds ago. You watched as he took the book carefully in his four hands and with his six eyes he observed you and then the book, anxiety spreads across his fascinating complexion. He releases his light grip on your hand.
"I-I thank you for this wonderful piece of human literature," Blinky said with a nervous smile and pulls the book close to his long torso with his lower set of arms ", But umm... Fair (Y/n)..."
"Yes?" You respond questioningly ", Are you alright?"
He trembles slightly and speaks.
"Umm... Trolls share affection differently than humans.." He stammers ", but the proximity of your face to mine is the troll equivalent of your human costume of ah... Kissing..."
You draw back slightly surprised by this dilemma you'd just caused.
"I'm... I'm so sorry!" You squeak and draw away from him entirely.
"No, no, no!" Blinkous shook his hands rapidly and his eyes filled with panic ", You have no reason to feel shame!"
The two of you stood there in awkward silence and you finally gave him a small smile, turned and went back to your desk to keep reading your book. As you sat, you kept sneaking glances at the grey-blue troll and at one point you think you see his six eyes examining you. No, he isn't as interested in as you are in him, you try to convince yourself. But it's hard to lie to yourself when the truth is trying to stare you in the face.
"Ah... (Y/n)?" Blinkous stammered as he leans against your desk and placing his hands on the surface ", I apologize for if I made you feel foolish or ridiculous..."
"Blinkous," You said quietly and placing a hand on top of one of his ", I'm sorry that I did that. My mistake. I can own up to it."
"I-I'm just trying to say that..." Blinkous stopped and glanced around nervously ", I didn't mind it... I favor you much more some of the other females of MY kind and-"
"Hush, Blinkous," You say with bubbling in your stomach ", I don't know how you could favor a human like me but I get it. I favor you too."
You gave him a look, he knew your looks, as well as you, knew his. His bright brown eyes glowed in the dim library and the feeling of proximity was crushing you. You slowly take his hand in yours, smiling at the blue-grey troll, rubbing your thumb over the outline of his hand.
"I do fear our partnership would be criticized," Blinkous sighed with a smile ", I could handle it, but I want to know if you want to deal with it..."
"I can handle anything, Blink," You say with a laugh ", I mean... You know how many flares you've left here?!?"
Blinkous smiled and hugged you tightly, his four arms gentle as he did, careful not to hurt you. You hugged him back, hands gliding through the short cut blue hair that covered his head. Faint glowing markings on his arms and face begin to glow a very light blue. You let your hand trail across the light blue markings and feel the troll shiver. You trace the markings across his face and down his arms, feeling him shiver in a strange way. But he doesn't pull away from you, it's like he refuses to move.
"Are you alright?" You ask him and as suddenly as he started glowing he grabs your arms and presses his nose against the curve of your neck. A small yelp escapes your lips as the sudden aggression has you tripping over your desk and landing on the surface. Your yelp shakes Blinkous out of this aggressive trance, his bright brown eyes focused on your face. His four hands are gripping your arms, and suddenly one set of hands wraps around your waists and his nose presses deeper into your throat.
"I'm sorry," He says gruffly but in the same way it is gentle ", I can't control that.."
Your hands fly to his cheeks, thumbs running under his lower set of eyes, " Contol is something that no man nor beast can truly comprehend."
Blinkous chuckles slightly and you feel his large teeth scrape against your neck ever so slightly, you smile and wrap your hands around his backward bending horns.
"Don't think you're the only one who has no self-control..."
