Chapter One

A screen flickered on in a black space. A darkly tanned hand reached up and pressed the start button. A dark musical tone started and filled the space as the opening to a show started to play.

The hand belonged to a young woman who sat stop a bed with pillows and fleece blankets circling her. Her thick curls were currently bound up and hidden under a bright pink bonnet. As the credits rolled she reached into the bag in her lap and pulled out another chip.

"The prince has stirred the people up to rebel," A masculine voice said.

"Damn straight he did," the young woman snorted. "If his father was half the man he was he'd know it was wrong killing all those people."

As she continued to watch the show she continued to make her comments and snack. Despite finishing said snack, another bag would plop into her lap as the empty bag disappeared. As the episode drew closer to the end she stopped eating. Her gaze focused on the T.V. grew grim as she watched the rebel forces get destroyed by the imperial army.

With a sigh of disappointment, she watched the bloody defeat and groaned as the credits started to roll.

"This can't be how it ends," She shoved her snacks aside and crawled forward to press the play button to watch the next episode only for the screen itself to disappear. "Huh?"

Surprised, she pulled her hand back.

The screen had been replaced by glowing letters. "Hello, Aesira."

Aesira surprised expression dark as she tensed, "It's you."

"It's been a while. Have you enjoyed your accommodations?"

"Accommodations," Aesira expression darkened. "You meant this prison you threw me into."

The dark space that Aesira had been enjoying rapidly changed. The comfortable setting of wide beds, pillows and blankets disappeared. Replaced by a bright room, with nothing but a concrete floor and white space.

"Prison? Why would you call it a prison? All your desires are answered here."

Aesira dearly wished she could punch whoever was behind answering her via this annoying prompt. Ever since she'd waken up in this abyss she'd been hoping to have a run in with this person, alien or deity. But after she'd watched season three she'd given up on that thing coming back.

Aside from experimenting with the dark space she'd focused on the assignment it had given her, especially when she realized what she would get once she finished them.

That now with their return she wasn't sure how to feel.

"Even if that is true, I can't leave. No matter how much I imagine woods, or lakes I'm still stuck here," she complained.

"Hmm, well then you'll be happy to learn that your time here is coming to an end."

Aesira expression brightened, "Really?"

"Yes, you've finished the young gods tutorial so we're now going to assign you your kingdom."

Expression stiffening, Aesira eyes flickered with confusion. "Young gods?"

"Yes, the history of Tales of Aeria and threw it you guided the hand of fate. I have to say your choices were brutal to some. If it were me I would be more concerned with how those choices would affect you."

"I'm sorry. I'm more concerned with this bit about young gods pieces. Are you saying I'm a god?"

Aesira ignored the twinge of guilt at the prompts words.

When she'd understood that the choices she made affected the outcome of the show she was watching she'd then understood a bit more her position, but she wouldn't let this shadowless prompt have the satisfaction of seeing her flinch.

"Yes, the world we are sending you to has lost many of their gods as the dark gods have grown in numbers. If left unchecked this place will fall into the hands of the demon king who devours all life from universes and moves on to the next universe to do the same thing."

Aesira sighed. "I knew this was going to involve some demon king or devil god. I fucking knew it."

"I'm glad that you've already adjusted your mind to this task."

"What? I'm not adjusted, I just read enough to not bother arguing and complaining," she grumbled. "So, what's the deal? Am I building an army? picking a hero? Starting a cult?

The prompt seemingly glitched as letters flickered back and forth and after a few more glitches it finally responded.

"...All of the above..."

"You gotta be fucking kidding," Aesira wondered if there was a delete button option. "I am literally, and I'm not being humble when I say this; not smart enough to do all of that. Sure, I've read tons of stuff with the portal fantasy theme, and been devouring manga since I was kid...And maybe, maybe I've got a serious addiction to reading kingdom building novels, but I am NOT smart enough to do it on my own."

"We know."

"You know," Aesira repeated suddenly feeling insulted. "I don't like the tone in your text sir."

"That's why we gave you the thumbs up ability."

"Thumbs up, you mean when I was reading and watching regular tv. Those thumbs up."

Aesira thought back to when she'd finished the seventh season of the Tales of Aeria, and a portal had opened followed by a stack of DVD's of her favorite anime poured in. Some had been of those that hadn't even been out before she died.

Eager to watch anything that wasn't assigned, she'd devoured them.

As she watched she noticed there would be an upside arrow that appeared next to certain character. Ignoring her instinct, she'd pressed it and found a list of specs of each characters design from items they were well known for using through the series to genetic gifts and miscellaneous items. Each item would have a thumbs up next to it, and before she realized it she'd gotten addicted to clicking thumbs-up.

At the time she'd thought she'd been stuck in the abyss forever she'd just pressed everything.

After this every time she'd finish a season, another portal would open and things from DVD's, books and comics would fall in. Not paying attention to her "grace" points she'd selected everything.

"Because of your diligent watching, you earned over 12 billion grace points and spent down to 3.4 billion grace points."

Aesira coughed, and covered her hand with her face.

"Usually, our young gods would save Grace points to perform major miracles. Since Grace points can be invested in building one's kingdom, but with you it seemed your strategy was to buy everything that could possibly give you an advantage."

The more the prompt wrote the more Aesira wanted to roll on the floor in embarrassment.

There hadn't been in strategy, it was similar to when she'd gotten Tinder.

She'd at first been swiping with the mind to date, but at some point it started feeling like a matching game and within three days she'd deleted it when she had 100 hundred people trying to talk to her.

"So, with this you've only 3.4 billion grace points left so I will show you your options..

1 Billion Grace points: A fallen kingdom and your people scattered. You will have to start off as a secret guild as those who watch your shores has already grown to a mighty empire.

2 Billion grace points: A land no one dares to seek out, an ancient civilization lost to the sands of times. The only reason you're safe is the neutrality of the sovereign nation who fears it's devils energy. You've no people, you've no name, you've no sword or shield, can you make it?

3 Billion Grace points: A small kingdom, but who are you. You have a kind king but for an era of war he's quite pitiful and desperate. The people grow food but really, why not make it our pantry? Your surrounded by wolves and you're one wine drink from the cruel tyrant to come knocking...so, will you make it or fall to your cousins hands.

Aesira stared at the options and then looked up a single tear slip from her eyes. "I don't want to do this."

"Sorry, but there is limited amount of time for you to choose. If you don't choose, the system will make the choice for you."

"Can't I make some adjustments," Aesira begged running her fingers through her hair dislodging her bonnet. "I mean there has got to be some upgrades to these ridiculous choices."

"No, choose."

Biting her lip, she glared at the options and finally with a shout of annoyance she pressed the second option. "Fine, I'll go with the second option. What was the name of the fallen nation."

"Olicia."

The strange twist of guilt in her gut suddenly settled. Aesira expression softened, "I guess it's fate."

The screen flickered and a moving picture of a forest came to view. A high mountain range appeared, along with an aerial view of an ocean raging beyond it.

A dark smoky fog covered the land blurring the site of things below it.

"It's big," Aesira said as she approached the moving picture. "So, this place has not a single person living there?"

"Yes, aside from mythical beast and creatures that can handle it's aura along with animals no human being resides here."

"Okay, I guess it is what it is."'

With snap the picture changed to a smiling emoji.

Aesira rolled her eyes when she saw this. "So, I guess that's it then."

The smiling emoji face flickered away as the screen floated up. "No, we now must update you're abyss to reflect your selections."

"Selections," Aesira repeated when a rumbling sound echoed behind her.

"Yes, the selections you made from transmigration Chinese novels, Mangas, manhuas, manhwas, tv shows, western portal fantasy and dvds... etc must be downloaded."

Aesira tensioned climbed as the white environment started to 'bubble' as if someone was boiling it.

Frightened, she imagined a ladder and when it appeared she climbed it.

In fascination she watched as the cement flooring turned tile by tile into grass. The sound of rushing water had her looking to her left where a waterfall started to descend from it.

In the distance she could see buildings popping out of the ground.

Words slowly slipped across the screen; space, farming land, mall, storage area, pagoda with top medical equipment, a hotel, healing hot spring, blessed waters, medical herbs, a house, a cabin, a movie theatre...a mall.

Watching this all Aesira shifted so that she was comfortable and rested her cheek on her hands. "You know I never liked OP characters and now I'm experiencing that which I hate most. Somewhere in here there is a lesson."

After things were finished popping into existence and the prompt screen had flickered back to normal. Aesira finally looked back at it, only to see it directing her to say something.

"What's "Iventory Open"? Oh shit."

Aesira eyes widened as the small city in front of her was swept away to be replaced with looked like a never-ending warehouse. She pursed her lips, "My mother always did say I had problems with shopping. Mom, I want you to know you were right."

The prompt floated down, so it was right in front of her. "To find a particular product, please say the name of the universe."

Her nose wrinkled, "Universe, like Harry Potter or something?"

The minute she said that the racks started shifting like the gears of a clock and before her now stood racks holding items like the famous invisibility cloak and the Remembrall. Shocked, she reached out and grabbed a white wand. "Always," she muttered.

"What?"

She rolled her eyes and put it back, "Never mind. So does it cost anything for me to use these things?"

"No, but there are some rules on how they can be used."

Aesira frowned, "Of course there are."

"These items can only be used by those you bless. And you, being god; can not use these items for attacking humans. Only those you bless can use them, and once they are given a blessing twice they must earn them after. You'll be able to see their grace points and if their points match the item you can give it to them."

"Well, damn there goes my plan to toss out the biggest weapon immediately," Aesira complained.

"This only applies with attacks and weapons, blessings like growth spells, assistive items and items of defense do not have these stipulations along with blood line gifts. But understand changing the genome of the people of this world may results in issues occurring their DNA structure that can't be accounted for."

Aesira hummed as she tapped her chin, "So, what if I wanted to use Jarvis from the MCU?"

"He is considered an assistant source and is allowed to be used by you. Note: that this world is currently in what would be similar to the 15th-16th century in your world but with magic and...other things. So, he will be given an appearance that fits the environment."

Aesira really wanted to ask what "other" things he was referring to but thought it would be better for her already questionable sanity to not.

"So, just so I get my mission straight. I'm a god who's goal is to raise a kingdom powerful enough to fight against the growing threat of some demon god who's coming to eat this planet."

"Yes and no."

"If you weren't a floating screen I'd body slam you."

"You will be building a kingdom, but you're primary goal is to root out and destroy the summoning circles being created as we speak to bring him here. For this, you'll need heroes who have been blessed by you to do this."

"So, now you're telling me to build a kingdom; like that's easy; and sponsor some vigilante group. What next take down the strongest god in this universe to rule it myself?"

"...I wouldn't say defeat him. Since he's technically being worshipped under the false belief he's the god of light but in truth he's the apostle of the Demon God who ate the light god Osirus."

Aesira plopped down and shook her head, "You know I thought I could do this, but I've decided I don't want to be a strong woman today. So, I'm deciding to not participate anymore."

Seeing this the prompt flickered, "You'll have untold power if you complete it."

Aesira used her feet to turn around, so her back was to the prompt. "No thank you, I'll just die here, again."

The prompt swayed before flying around to her front once more, "H-how about we offer you something to make it worth it?"

Aesira scoffed, "And what can you offer me that would make me risk getting axed by one of the most powerful beings in this universe?"

"...Men."

Aesira squinted, "...I'm listening."

"Most gods are not advised to be in relationships with mortals. Usually most of them are more focused on increasing their strength—," "Blah, blah I get it. They are a bunch of stallion male characters who are cold and bleurgh, get to the good part. The part about me getting a husband."

"We'll give you the ability to give immortality to those who qualify as your lovers. And we'll even give you fates string to find your soul mates."

"Hmm," Aesira came to her feet. "I guess it's worth it, but I don't need a harem or anything."

The prompt ignored her last words and instead continued on. "With your choices registered, we'll be allowing you to descend to the planet. Currently, with your level of grace humans will not be able to see you. As you are taking on the mantel of a fallen kingdom you will have to select those who will be given the blessing to see you. Once you do, I will guide you on how to do so."

Nodding to this Aesira watched as the space behind the prompt opened like a door. Her heart pounded in her chest in excitement. She could finally have leave this place, if it hadn't been for the entertainment that'd been given to her as rewards she'd have lost her mind long ago.

"Well, here's hoping I never come back to this place," she walked toward the door.

"Oh, and avoid those who can see you they may be other gods and can be a bit clingy—," Aesira who'd just stepped into the doorway glanced back. "Huh?"

The light wrapped around her long legs and yanked and before she could get an answer she was ripped from abyss into darkness.
