Silver Ring
//Mentions of death, unknown cause.
That's just me being lazy, feel free to give me an idea.
Sebastian was only five when his mother died. Even to this day, he could remember the haunting details well.
He was sent home sick. He ran to his mother's room to hug her, but stopped at how pale she looked.
"Mummy? Are you sick too?"
His mother looked at Sebastian and smiled her kind and loving smile. He walked closer and crawled onto the bed, snuggling into her side.
"Just tired, my darling," she said softly. Her sweet, dove coo like voice was much softer than normal.
"You should sleep, Mummy!"
The dying woman smiled and stroked her son's blonde hair. Her hand shook a tiny bit.
"I love you, Sebastian, always know that," she murmured quietly.
Sebastian nodded and smiled brightly, "I love you too Mummy!"
She smiled, but it was sad. She slowly pulled off her wedding ring, and placed it in Sebastian's hands.
"Mummy?" He asked, confused and concerned. Even as a little boy who still thought girls had cooties, he knew that taking off a wedding ring was a big deal.
"You'll be a great man, Seb," she whispered, closing her icy blue eyes.
Sebastian was young, yes, but he was smart. Tears spilt over his matching eyes, unable to stop them. He knew what was happening, and was scared of it too.
Severin came home a few hours later. He held his brother tight when he figured out what happened, holding back his own grief to comfort Sebastian.
Since he was five, he was deemed too young to know how his mother died. His father just saying she was really sick, and never noticed the missing ring. Maybe he didn't care either.
But when he was older, he still didn't get to know, carrying the little ring on a silver chain to remember his mother...the only good parent he ever had.
