Garmadon grunted as he turned this way and that, trying to find a comfortable position to sleep in. The entire bed rocked and creaked loudly with his sudden movements. It was a miracle that Misako still slept soundly next to him despite the noise.

He threw off the thin bed cover, getting irritated with the way his legs kept tangling themselves in it. He half wanted to push his wife off the bed in order to spread his limbs and occupy the entire furniture. Of course he couldn't do that. She may not look like it but Misako could turn very scary very fast. The brunet stuffed his face into his pillow to muffle his frustrated groans.

For some reason, having his face mushed between the soft confines of the pillow gave him a sort of relaxation and peace that he soon found himself getting drowsy and finally succumbing to the arms of sleep that slowly enveloped him. His eyelids drooped lower and lower and his consciousness gradually slipped away.

He didn't notice the door to his room quietly being pushed open. A small figure poked its head from around the door, inspecting the two sleeping adults. His blonde hair were messy and long bangs fell into his eyes. The four-year old wore a lime green one-piece pyjama suit with a cartoon dragon pattern printed on it.

The boy craned his neck to make sure his mother was sound asleep before stealthily creeping over to his father. He smiled as he quickly scrambled up onto the bed and got on Garmadon's back, the latter too deep in slumber to notice.

The boy held his breath as his mother shifted slightly but he relaxed as she settled back down. He waited for a few seconds, just to be safe, before leaning over till his mouth hovered above his father's left ear.

"Daddy?" he whispered, his breath tickling Garmadon's ear lobe. His father didn't respond so he tried again, louder this time. "Daddy?"

The boy patted Garmadon's back rather aggressively, wanting to get him up before his mother found out. "Wake up, Daddy!" he exclaimed in a whispered shout. He grinned and drew back as Garmadon's head shot up.

The boy got off from his back and sat next to him as the brunet dragged a hand over his face groggily. "Lloyd," he mumbled, turning on his side facing Misako, "go back to sleep."

Lloyd pouted and resumed his perch on top of Garmadon. "No!"

"Why not?"

Lloyd sighed wistfully, lightly tugging at his father's brown locks. "Because I can't sleep and I want you to play with me." He buried his head into the crook of his father's neck, waiting for him to reply. He did not get what he desired, though.

"But I want to sleep," Garmadon mumbled, closing his eyes once more. Lloyd groaned, pulling his father's cheek. "No, you don't."

"Yes, I do."

"No!"

"Yes."

"No!"

"Yes."

"Pleeeeaaaase!"

"Stop it."

Lloyd gritted his teeth and racked his brain for another solution. Pouting and pleading and making puppy eyes were the only options he had and those didn't seem to be working.

"You're a butt," Lloyd muttered, folding his arms, a sulky pout adorning his face.

"You're a butt," Garmadon repeated, still trying to fall back to sleep.

"You're a loser," Lloyd retorted.

"You're a loser," echoed his father.

"Stop repeating after me!" the blonde complained, hitting his father's arm.

"Stop repeating after me," Garmadon spoke, impersonating his son. Even though he was sleepy and tired, he was still enjoying this. Teasing his son always led to entertainment galore.

"Monkey!" Lloyd hissed angrily.

"Monkey."

"You're the monkey!"

"You're the monkey."

"I am stupid," Lloyd shot back, smirking.

"Lloyd is stupid - nice try," Garmadon replied, smiling slyly to himself.

The blonde looked like he was on verge of exploding. He scowled as his father chuckled, celebrating his victory. Lloyd wasn't going to give up that easily however. He still had one more trick up his sleeve.

He again reached Garmadon's ear and whispered, "Do you want to eat some candy?" As expected, his father's eyes slowly opened. Lloyd continued his attempt to play with his father's temptations. "I know where Mama has hidden them."

Garmadon gave Lloyd a sidelong glance, a smile playing on his lips. Lloyd responded with a smirk, his eyebrows raised at the brunet smugly. He climbed off the bed as Garmadon sat up, yawning and trying to get the sleep out of his eyes.

An offer on candy was much too tempting to shove away. He hadn't had one since Misako hid the jar somewhere in the monastery on Wu's suggestion after he and Lloyd had raided it too much.

Garmadon swung his legs over the edge of the bed, gazing at Lloyd expectantly. "You know the drill, buddy," he said to which the boy giggled. Lloyd quickly got up behind his father on the bed, wrapping his arms around his neck and legs around his torso.

"Here we go!" Garmadon exclaimed in a whisper, standing up while placing his arms firmly on his son's legs to keep him from falling lest the boy's grip loosened on him. Careful as to not wake his wife (and risk getting yelled at: "Why are you giving Lloyd piggyback rides at one in the morning?!") the duo quietly made their way out of the room.

"Lead the way, captain," Garmadon spoke playfully as they reached the sitting room. With one arm around his father's neck, Lloyd excitedly raised a fist. "To the kitchen!"

Garmadon obliged, navigating his way through the furniture and corridors, hoping to safely reach their destination without bumping into or upsetting anything. As he tip-toed past Wu's room, Lloyd tapped him on the head, making him stop.

"I forgot to tell you," Lloyd mumbled into his ear. "Mama keeps the jar under lock and key."

Garmadon's excitement deflated like a balloon that had been subjected to hold air for too long and now completely regretted ever getting out of bed in the first place. "Then why are you breaking my back in the middle of the night?" He asked his son incredulously, as Lloyd slipped off of his father.

"Because," Lloyd began, looking up at Garmadon with enormous green eyes, "I know where the key is."

The amount of relief and happiness that washed over Garmadon upon hearing that was indescribable. That lasted till Lloyd finally revealed where the key was hidden.

"It's in Uncle Wu's room," the boy announced as if it were the most wonderful thing ever all the while taking small steps towards the room of the uncle in question.

"Uncle Wu's room?!" Garmadon huffed, wondering what his brother and wife had been up to behind his back. How dare they plan to sabotage his and Lloyd's candy business?

He was glad his weasel of a son had located the whereabouts of the key or else he would've never been able to taste those caramels and lollipops again. He quietly followed his little boy and helped him open the door to Wu's sleeping quarters with as much subtleness as could be humanly possible.

The room became dimly visible and they could make out Wu's sleeping form huddled under the covers of his bed, soft snoring filling the air. Lloyd turned back to gaze up at his towering father and gestured for him to be quiet. As if Garmadon didn't already know it was important to do that.

"You stay here," Lloyd ordered and his father heeded with no complaints. If Wu woke up to see Lloyd rummaging through his drawers and cupboards, he wouldn't make much of it. However, if he saw Garmadon then one thing would lead to another and it will all end in a heated argument. And for what? Candy?

The boy made his way over to his uncle's bedside table with all the stealthiness of a ninja and Garmadon would be lying if he said he wasn't impressed. They hadn't planned on teaching Lloyd even simple punches and kicks till he was seven or older. But it was still good if the boy had potential.

Lloyd reached his target, turned around and gave Garmadon a grin and a thumbs up which the brunet happily returned. Lloyd pressed his lips together and managed to open the lower drawer of the bedside table.

Garmadon crossed his fingers and prayed that there wouldn't be need to move stuff around in the drawer or else his brother would all but arise from his slumber. Unfortunately, things had to be shoved around.

Garmadon winced as Lloyd made a racket so loud that it was enough to wake Misako from the room down the hall. Strangely, his brother didn't get disturbed. Lloyd's uncle continued to snore peacefully as the boy managed to get hold of the aforementioned key.

Safely outside the area of trouble, Lloyd excitedly waved the key up at his father who bent down and picked him into his arms. "Good job, kiddo," Garmadon smiled as they made their way to the kitchen, earning a giggle from Lloyd.

Upon entering the room, Garmadon flipped the button and the lights came on with a click, throwing into view their little kitchen. Garmadon carried Lloyd over to the counter, plopping him down on the marbled top. The blonde held up the key which his father took.

He then turned around to face the kitchen, ready to open up the goodies that had been locked away from his clutches. "Okay, where are you hiding, candy jar?"

"It's in the same cabinet as before," Lloyd replied simply, swinging his legs while he relaxed on the counter top. Garmadon faced his son, raising an eyebrow dubiously. "The same one?"

"Uh-huh!" Lloyd eagerly nodded, wanting to get his hands on the candy as soon as possible.

Garmadon shook his head, recalling all the times he had peeped in there to find it devoid of the candy jar. "But I've checked there many times. I didn't see it anywhere."

"Simple," Lloyd announced, sitting up straight and putting on a face like a professor would when he has to answer his student's rather stupid question. "All those times you looked for the jar there, Mama hid it somewhere else. When she was sure you wouldn't check there anymore, she put it back in that cabinet. But this time, she locked it just to be safe."

Garmadon's crimson eyes widened as he read between the lines of the simple yet marvellous plan that his wife had devised. He put a finger on his chin, thinking over it and agreeing that Misako was somewhat of an evil genius. "Smart," he muttered, nodding along.

"Mama is smart," Lloyd reinforced, a kind of a proud smile on his face. "She wears glasses," he added, gesturing at his eyes.

Garmadon adopted a suspicious look, narrowing his gaze at the light haired boy with hands on his hips. "And how did you come to know all this, huh?"

Lloyd winced as a guilty demeanor took over his smug one. "I accidentally heard Mama telling it to Uncle Wu when she gave him the key." He couldn't help but blush as his father fixed him with an I'm-so-dissapointed-in-you look.

That's when he remembered what they were actually here for and he flapped his little hands to shoo him to the cabinet. "Goooo! I wanna eat candy!"

"Alright, alright," Garmadon muttered, his face twisted in concentration as he inserted the key into the keyhole of their targeted cabinet. He was actually shocked to see the jar in the exact same place where they used to keep it before Misako hid it.

But who cared? Thanks to his son, he now had full access to it and his wife and brother would never know. He brought the glass jar over to Lloyd, setting it down on the marbled counter. He popped off the knob like lid and both of them peered into the pile of sweets.

"What do you want to eat?" Garmadon asked, raising his eyes to meet his son's. The boy shrugged in reply.

"What do you wanna eat?"

"Hmm," Garmadon hummed in thought, trying to make up his mind on what to choose. He had to control the urge of just shoving his hand inside and pulling out the entire mass of sweetness otherwise it would be a bad influence on Lloyd.

"I want the mini-chocolate bar," he decided, pointing at a small wrapped bar of caramel chocolate. Something else caught his eye and he quickly switched to that. "Ooh, maybe that lollipop."

He reached in and pulled out two of the mentioned item. He looked at his son innocently, displaying his choice of candy. "Can I have two?"

"No!" Lloyd suddenly hissed, slapping his hands on Garmadon's mouth as if he had just said a bad word. "We only have to take one at a time or we'll get caught!"

"Aw, c'mon," his father pleaded, putting on a pout, tapping Lloyd's rosy cheek with one of the lollipops in his hand. "Your mother will never know."

"You better take one or I'll tell on you," Lloyd threatened, folding his arms and raising his nose in the air to show that he meant business.

Garmadon seemed unfazed by the "intimidating" threat his son had thrown at his face. "Oh, you'll tell on me?" he challenged.

Lloyd nodded curtly, putting all his effort in glaring at the brunet with his big eyes. "I'll tell Mama that it was all your idea and she'll believe me because she loves me more than she loves you."

Garmadon gave an offended gasp. "No way!" he countered playfully. "She loves me more than you."

"No, she doesn't!

"Yes, she does!"

Lloyd growled in response, his cheeks tinted with a shade of red. "She loves me more! Know why?"

"Why?" Garmadon demanded, once more enjoying the game of teasing his son.

"Because I'm cuter!"

Garmadon pretended to be hurt by the blonde's words. He put on a solemn face and laughed internally when he saw his son was actually buying his act. "You leave me no choice, Lloyd."

"What are you gonna do?" the blonde squeaked, hugging himself.

Before the boy could do anything, Garmadon leaned forward and immediately began tickling his son. Lloyd shrieked and giggled uncontrollably, wriggling to get away from his father. He almost fell off the counter but Garmadon caught him, still not stopping his tickle assault.

"Will you mess with again, huh?" Garmadon asked between his own laughter, avoiding Lloyd's flailing arms.

"No!" Lloyd yelled, his voice dissolving into giggles as his father's fingers continued to attack him. "No, I won't." His voice seemed strained and it was certain that he was out of breath so Garmadon stopped.

They both laughed, calming their rapid breathing from the rush. Garmadon rubbed his nose with Lloyd's as the latter placed his palms on the older's cheeks. "I was kidding, buddy," Garmadon spoke, making sure not to leave behind any misunderstandings.

"I know, Daddy."

Just as this father and son moment ended, a throat was cleared, causing Garmadon and Lloyd to turn to the direction of the kitchen door. Their faces spelled horror as their eyes landed on an unammused Misako and an annoyed Wu, both leaning against the opposite sides of the door frame.

Misako's brown tresses were in a disarray, sticking out from her failed attempt at a bun. Wu looked really sleep deprived and that was confirmed by the lines under his eyes. But that didn't cover the fact that he was boiling with anger.

As mentioned earlier, Misako could get very scary if provoked. The way she glared at her son and husband over the rim of her glasses made Lloyd shiver in Garmadon's arms.

"What is going on here?" she demanded, her eyes shooting daggers as she noticed the candy jar that was freely out in the open for the two criminals to violate.

Both father and son decided to reply with the old reliable that actually never seemed to have much affect.

"Nnnnooothinnngg!"

"Lloyd, go to your room, now," Wu said, nodding his head in the direction of the four year-old's bedroom.

The blonde grumbled as Garmadon lifted him up from the counter bridal style, planting a kiss on his head before setting him down. Lloyd glumly made his way between his mother and uncle and headed to his room.

However, he turned around and pointed at the two lollipops still in Garmadon's hand. "It was Daddy's idea. Look, he has two of them!" He then made a dash for his room before his father caught up with him.

"What?!" Garmadon hollered, feeling betrayed. He made to follow Lloyd but Misako stomped forward, snatching the lollipops from him and stuffing them into the jar. She glared at him, menacingly pushing up her glasses with her finger.

Garmadon tried to find a way to escape but was met with a lack of options. Instead, he aimed to direct the topic somewhere else. He grabbed Misako's hand and raised it to his lips, kissing it gently. "My, you look absolutely lovely tonight, ma'am.

Misako snatched her hand away, pushing past him and leaving with the jar. "That won't work!"

"Just because I'm a deep sleeper and barely hear explosions when in a slumber doesn't mean you take advantage of it," Wu chastised, gesturing at the key on the table top.

"That's exactly what it means," the brunet mumbled with a smirk.

"Garmadon!" Misako screamed.

"Hey!" the brunet yelled indignantly. "It wasn't my idea. Your kid set me up."

"Don't blame it on Lloyd," Misako warned, raising a finger at her husband.

"Honey, I promise you he was the one who figured out your let's-put-it-back-where-it-used-to-be-because-no-one-looks-there-anymore scheme," Garmadon defended, earning a doubtful look from his wife.

"How?" she asked, hands on her hips.

"Don't tell me you're oblivious to the fact that he eavesdrops on our every conversation," the brunet argued, gesturing at the three of them.

Realization hit her and she narrowed her eyes at Garmadon, muttering, "I'll deal with you later." With a new target in her line of fire, Misako stomped out of the kitchen towards her son's room.

"Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon! You are in a world of trouble, young man!"

As the woman's voice grew fainter, Wu turned back to face his brother. Garmadon smirked at the gumball in his hand which he had managed to sneak from the jar before it was swept away. "See, Wu. I always escape."

His brother folded his arms and shook his head wearily. "She said she would deal with you later."

Garmadon shrugged, tossing the gumball up and down with an overconfident attitude. "Nah, she'll forget about it once I show her my irresistible 'I am so sorry' look."

"You know that never works, right?"

"Try, try again and you might just succeed," Garmadon replied without the slightest bit of worry. He tossed the gumball higher in hopes to catch it in his mouth. Unfortunately, his brother was faster. With a swipe of his hand, Wu caught it.

Garmadon glared at the blonde who simply smiled at him. "The problem with this world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts while the stupid ones are full of overconfidence."

With that, he popped the gumball in his mouth and triumphantly made his way to his room, leaving a frowning Garmadon in his wake.
