planet or plastic
Albert opened his eyes to the mesmerizing beauty of the ocean he was born in.
The morning light danced gracefully in front of him. It had the power to give a heavenly touch to everything around. It shined upon the seagrasses that were waving themselves with the tireless tides. The pebbles and corals around him seemed lustrous. The alluring view of oceans is beyond mere verbal description.
The only thing that reminded him that it was not heaven was 'The Reef Of Doom' a little far away from him. It stenched the ocean and ejected several parts of its own very often and grew day after day.
Legend says that the reef was formed as a punishment to the oceanic creatures for their sins. It was maintained by the divine humans who were created to protect the earth with their incomparable brains. The great wise turtle explained about this during one of her once in a blue moon visits.
'What sins do we do?' he did not dare to question the wise turtle.
The plastic products that were the constituents of the reef of doom smiled sinisterly at him. The ejections from it restricted the movement of seagrasses, destructed the homes of a lot of his co-habitants and poisoned the soul of the ocean that was once the synonym of purity.
A little away from him two sea horses were already in between their morning routine. They were swimming synchronously with tails entwined. The seagrasses, kelps and red algae seemed to be blessing their romance as they passed between and beyond them. The way they looked into each other's eyes radiated the fragrance of love and Albert looked across the submerged reef longingly.
After what felt like a thousand centuries Emily came with her pectoral fins helping her to move to her beloved. She sighed in disappointment as a plastic bag moved in front of her with the tides. She looked at the reef of doom with disgust.
"I hate what the humans are doing to us" She declared as she came near her mate.
"Emily, we do not have the honour to question the divine creatures of the lord"
"Albert, we have already been over this" she nodded her triangular head in disappointment "we are too creatures from the same lord and they are not divine"
Emily's friend Julie was captured by the humans a few months back and since then she had investigated on humans and researched about the reef of doom. She was not an atheist but the creatures like the great wise turtle irked her as she knew that he was only taking advantage of creatures' belief for respect.
If humans were truly divine, they would not be killing creatures for joy. They would not be dumping waste into the blood of the earth. They would not be digging their own graves. Humans are not divine!.
"I have to leave" Emily swam back.
"Emily......"
'Is she right?' he looked at the Reef as she swam away.
