🦍Awaken & Growing Feelings🐆

As the morning sun's heat peeks into the medicine man's tent on a mat, lies Y/n breathing softly, but at her right side was James gently twisting a cloth of cold water over a bucket before he began carefully wiping the sweat off of her forehead and face while the medicine man and his wife were re-treating the wounds on Y/n's body to carefully massaging her muscles to allow the blood to flow properly to as well accelerate the healing process. This went on for about three days until the fourth day when James was helping the medicine man with making his healing ointment for Y/n wounds was unknowingly to the young man, the jungle protector stirred awake.

Y/n's face scrunched up a bit as she lifted up her right hand to remove a wet cloth from her forehead and slowly sat up from the cot. She looked over her wrapped wounds from her long-awaited victory against Sabor, her chest, right arm, and left hand wrapped in fresh but fewer bandages with the faint but powerful medical herbs. The medicine man looked up from his working desk to see the young woman was finally awake and motioned for his wife to fetch Y/n a meal as well as those important to her to move his eyes towards a bucket of fresh water with a small bowl to drink it with.

Y/n: She moved and filled the small bowl and brought it towards her mouth to drink from it slowly before wiping her lips. "How long was I asleep?" She questioned as her voice sounded slightly cracked, which drew James's attention towards her at last. "Good morning, James." She said while the young man walked over toward her bedside.

James: He carefully took the small bowl from Y/n's hands and refilled it for her. "You were sleeping for four days, Y/n, your mother and the medicine man's wife took care of your..." He cleared his throat lightly, embarrassed to admit this. "Bathing and such even took your hair out of their dreadlocks til you woken up, but how are you feeling?" He asked with a slight worried tone in his voice, which made Y/n look up at him with a tilted head as the medicine man left his tent to allow the two privacy.

Y/n: She moved her hands up to feel that her h/c dreadlocks were now loose yet freshly washed to a silken touch. "I am fine, James. I've been through worse than a leopard fight." She said confidently and stretched out her limbs a bit. "I should go see my parents. They're definitely going to worry worse than most." She said before James stood up from the cot and hold held his hand out towards her to take hold of while she shook her head lightly.

Y/n pushed herself off of the cot to stand up only to feel her legs waddle as a newborn gazelle about to fall onto the ground only to be caught in James's arms with a strong yet gentle hold. Y/n's eyes had widened in shock while looking up at James as her hands rested against his chest as their eyes met once more, deep green clashed against e/c. James slowly moved his right arm up and tucked some of Y/n's loose h/c hair behind her ear as his palm rested against her lower jaw and left cheek.

James: "Be careful, Y/n. You may be strong, but your body is still healing." He said with a firm tone as his voice that she had always heard in a kind, gentle, or intelligent tone. This was a new discovery for the young woman as the morning sun's light shined throughout the tents' cracks to gently bath the pair in it's light, painting them both in a new way.

Y/n looked at James and took in his loose light brunette hair, which looked a deeper shade from the sun's light. His clothes looked like back the first morning after she had saved him in her treehouse, but James wore a yellow shirt slightly unbuttoned from the heat of the jungle. To Y/n, he didn't look like an infant gorilla anymore, but something that she couldn't pinpoint, although she felt as if James was a warmth that filled her heart.

Y/n: Nodded with no words towards James and leaned against his warm palm gently unknowingly, smiling up at him with a gleam of wonder in her e/c eyes. "It would seem I've a lot more to learn from you outsiders, and I teach your group as well." She said while James looked down at her in a different way as well.

This young woman in his arms was vastly different from those in London, James thought. Y/n had shown him that not only is she incredibly intelligent of the world around her, but she also proved to him that she was strong yet still fragile. This woman before him had saved him from being mauled from baboons even though she did not know him. Gave him shelter from a fierce jungle storm, showed him a bit of her past, yet he wanted to learn more about her, to be closer to her.

The pair felt their emotions stir within their bodies, from many varieties such as fascination with another, a respect earned from each other, a friendship was forming between the young man and woman but their hearts beated for something much more and yearned to be closer. James and Y/n slowly leaned towards each other unknowingly to the point their lips were inches apart from brushing against the other until the tent flaps were tossed open to reveal Maria, Thomas, Archimedes, and William. James and Y/n quickly pulled away from each other while Y/n's mother pulled her daughter into a relieved embrace alongside her father, and William approached James with Archimedes.

Maria: "Oh, my darling girl, thank heavens you're awake." She said with happy tears while she kissed Y/n's forehead than cheeks.

Thomas: "We are so proud of you, Y/n, but we're more grateful that you are still here." He said while holding his beloved girls close to his heart, his wife and daughter.

William smiled softly, seeing his young cousin was awake and sound before his eyes then looked over towards James, taking note of the far off look in the young man's eyes directed toward Y/n as he quitely made Archimedes aware of his son's infatuation directed to Y/n. Archimedes looked towards his boy, then back towards Y/n with a proud smile, knowing quite well the discovery of the young pair's hearts.
