25-I Guess We Have a Plan-Lukas
"You look like a powdered donut." Axel murmured, staring as I attempted to brush off as much flour as I could from my clothes and my body. I sneezed, the flour setting on the ground around me from Jesse's previous prank just a few minutes ago.
"Really?" I asked, straightening my shirt. "I hadn't noticed."
He gave me a dry look as I gave one final shake, the last of the loose powder coming off. Of course, I still had some on me, but that was the best I could do.
"What's your next move? I'm thinking something with paintballs-"
"Guys, don't you see how ridiculous this all is?" Olivia interrupted suddenly, extremely frustrated.
"You've been at this for weeks now. This wasn't what I meant when I said to deal with Jesse."
"I know, I know." I exclaimed, shaking my head. "But what's done is done."
Jesse's words rang clearly in my head.
"And I can't change what's happened."
Olivia folded her arms across her chest, lost in thought. I slung my backpack over my shoulders and prepped to leave.
After a small, tensioned silence, I spoke up awkwardly.
"Okay, I'll see you guys tomorrow then." I waved to leave, but Olivia interrupted,
"Wait," she demanded, holding a finger up, "can we go meet up somewhere? I think I have a plan."

The heavenly smell of an orange meringue scone filled my nostrils, and I sighed hazily, getting ready to take a bite. Axel and Olivia were sitting across from me; Axel deciding which of the three pastries he had ordered to eat first and Olivia staring at her cup of water, waiting. For what exactly, I wasn't sure.
I took a bite out of the scone and was met with a burst of flavor. Delicious.
"So," she started, beginning to finish formulating her plan, "Jesse's not going to stop even if you try and reason with her. I know her enough so that she won't listen to some small talk."
"Yeah, so what do we do?" Axel asked, surprisingly not with his mouth full.
"We hit her with a taste of her own medicine." She exclaimed, taking a sip of her water. "Sounds a bit harsh, but I have a feeling it's going to work."
"Hold on a second, I don't follow." I set my scone back down on the napkin. "What do you want us to do?"
"What you've been doing, prank her."
"But-didn't you want us to stop it in the first place? If we prank her again, it's just going to go back and forth-"
"You didn't let me finish." She interrupted, not unkindly. "It's a bluff. You're going to make seem like you're going to pin the prank her, one so big that she'll get expelled. That'll smack some sense into her and she'll step down. Hopefully."
I almost choked.
"You want me to fool Jesse into backing down? Do you know how ridiculous that sounds?" I argued, shaking my head. "There are so many things that could go wrong. For one, it's going to be almost impossible to convince her, she won't believe the bluff. Two, what if we get her expelled? And three-"
"Look, I can't think of any better idea." She let out a breath, folding her arms across her chest and leaning back in the wooden chair. "And the principal never does anything to stop her. If we do this, then we can work this out for good. So, are you in?"
I stared at her. She already knew my answer.
"Fine. Let's do this."
*"*"*"*"*"*"*
Misstep. One misstep. That's all it'll take. I had everything played out in my head, repeating the words over and over until they were stuck in my mind. But as always, there was the same nervousness. I pushed it aside for now. I had gone over the plan with Axel and Olivia beforehand, so at least I knew what I was doing.
First step: find Jesse.
That would be easy. We were the main spectacle after all. Other students parted ways for us in the hallways, we were the center of attention. I don't know about her, but I hated it. Maybe I got used to it, but it still felt uneasy.
I found Jesse after first period, right after dodging-barely-a glitter bomb. I held my folder in front of my face, the shiny particles falling to the floor, the excess either sticking to me or my folder.
"Aww, I missed."
I ignored her, dusting off the glitter as if it were nothing.
"You know, I think we should stop."
She looked at me as if I was crazy, hesitating for a long moment before bursting out laughing.
"You're funny Booke, I'll give you that. You were the one that started it, and now, in the middle of all this, you just want to cut it off? No sir, you don't get the last word."
I let out am breath, keeping my composure.
"If you don't stop, I'll get you expelled." I expected a more fierce reaction than just a smile.
"Oh really?" She asked, amused. "Such a big threat for a small guy."
"I'm not joking around. I'll-I'll get you expelled."
Jesse tilted her head curiously, eyes sparkling mischievously.
"You know what? I'd love to see you try."
