Chapter Ten
"Your Highness," a voice called out. A man with fiery red hair sighed at the use of such formal terms.
"Brice, what's with such formal terms all of a sudden?" The man turned to look at his friend. "Come, stand with me."
The man with greying dark brown hair, Brice, walked over to his friend, chuckling. He looked up to the wall that his King and best friend was looking at.
All of the walls in the room they were standing in was decorated with all sorts of stuff, randing from banners and flags to paintings that were put there from the room's owner. A banner with a silver wolf hung on the wall above a large bed, decorated with blankets made from various velvets.
The looked up at the painting that his friend, Frederick, was looking at. A large, very detailed silver dragon was painted across the wall, with very detailed fire coming from behind it, almost as if it were trying to engulf the dragon. Behind it laid a golden crown, indicating the royal status and life that it yearned to escape from.
"Where did you go?" the King asked, shaking his head as the looked down at the stone floor.
"Those Endocarians must have taken her," Brice said, looking to his friend. "I can send Robyn in there to retreive her from them, of you wish."
"No. No matter how hard they fight, they wouldn't be able to keep her there of she didn't want to be there. She must have somehow learned of the betrothal and run away for and break to collect her thoughts," Frederick said, looking to Brice.
"How would she have heard? The only ones who knew were you, Alice, Robyn, Sophia and I," Brice said. "Robyn swore that the wouldn't tell her, Alice and Sophia wouldn't tell her, and I know that neither you or I would tell her, so who?"
"I don't know," Frederick said, his voice trailing off. They heard someone shove the large, wooden doors to the room open, and both turned around.
"Sir, Gavin, C, and Tristan have all been found," the guard said, panting from having to run all the way from the ground to the top of one of the towers where the room was.
The two men looked to each other, both of their eyes widening, and they both rushed down to meet the three. Neither of them missed the fact that the guard hadn't said that Emi was with them.
They reached where Gavin, C, and Tristan were, and Emi wasn't with them. Instead, they saw Tristan off of his horse, while both C and Gavin were still in their horses, right next to each other. C had her forehead resting against her boyfriend's shoulder.
"Where's Emi?" the King asked, looking to the three.
"We don't know," Tristan told him, his blond hair falling in his eyes. "She split away from us when the Survey Corps had come, and we hadn't seen her since. We've been looking for her all over for the past few days, but we can't find her."
"I'm sorry," C said, her voice barely even and whisper. "What type of guard am I of I can't even keep track of the person I'm specifically assigned to watch?"
"C, you're a great guard. I doubt that even our best guard would be able to keep Emi from running off," Frederick told C. "And she can't keep Emi from running off. You're the best guard for her, because you're her best friend, C, and you're probably the person that has the best chances at talking her it of something stupid."
C scoffed lightly, but it didn't seem like a rude scoff. "Thanks."
Frederick nodded with a small smile. Emi and C had hung out so much over the past twentyish years that they had known each other that C felt almost like family, too. If you didn't know better, you could easily mistake the two for sisters.
Everyone talked for a bit more, with C, Gavin, and Tristan all explaining what had happened to Frederick and Brice. After a while, they all went inside.
"Brice, send Robyn after Emi."
---
Emi growled in irritation after she had pricked herself in the finger with a large needle for what seemed like the millionth time that day. She wiped the small amount of blood on her shirt as she continued to sew a large strap of leather onto a saddle. She laid everything in the ground and held it together before violently stabbing the needle through the leather.
She didn't exactly need another reminder about how she didn't get her mothers sewing skills.
She moved the leather strap around a bit and yanked on it and bit, finally done and satisfied with her work. She had put a bunch of extra parts on a saddle so that she could use that on Mage, combined with her own to swords, to kill Titans that needed to be killed.
She walked over to where Mage was, and she threw the saddle over him. He clicked his beak together in slight confusion, but he didn't try to escape. She adjusted a couple of the leather straps she added some that it would fit somewhat tightly and hold its position, and then she climbed on.
"Let's go, buddy," Emi said. The wyvern was still confused, yet it still flew into the air. "We're just gonna fly around for a bit so that you can get used to the saddle, and then we can start training."
After and while of just flying around, Emi finally felt was of it was time for them to start doing tricks. She placed her hand on the side of Mage's neck. "We're just gonna start with a simple roll, after you're comfortable with that, we'll move on again."
She leaned, seemingly as of she were about to slide off, but she didn't, and Mage moved with her. They tilted to the side and kept going until they were all the way upside. Emi meant to keep him rolling, but after looking and seeing the ground right above her, of below her, she paused and froze up, causing Mage to freeze up, too.
The wyvern began to start diving towards the ground, still upside down, which only caused Emi to panic. She started doing whatever she could think of doing to get the wyvern back up, but it only somewhat worked. Mage managed to get upright just in time, but one of his wings somehow got caught under his foot and the tripped, throwing Emi and rolling.
Emi felt the air leave her lungs, and she quickly sat up, feeling her head spin and she struggled to catch her breath again. After finally getting her breath back, she went to lay down again, only to look over to see Mage standing up.
The wyvern stretched his wings out, only to flinch and pull the one he stepped on back. Emi's eyes widened and she rushed over to her wyvern, examining him for whatever was wrong. She sighed in relief when it felt like nothing was too damaged, and that the only seemed to have pulled and muscle in his wings or two.
"Okay, it's not too bad, you'll just need to rest tonight, and you should be better in the morning," Emi told Mage. She sighed, knowing that there would be a bunch more training headed their way.
