Misunderstanding
"This definitely seems like the place." Amy remarked as she dismounted her light bay horse and cautiously approached the pitch black obsidian castle.
"Lets make this quick." Signe hopped off of her dark brown Clydesdale and marched ahead with her crossbow in hand, the three captains quickly running to catch up with her.
"Signe!" Amy hissed to get her to stop.
"I'm getting Sean back, and no stupid kings of Demons are going to stop me!" Signe yelled over her shoulder before bursting inside the obsidian castle.
"Where's Sean?" Signe demanded as she scanned the shadows for signs of the two Demons. Amy stood by her side, war hammer at the ready. Tyler stood in front of Amy, ready to defend her while Robin stood by Signe, Brad staying in the back in case they were going to be ambushed.
"He's not here, he's back at Mark's kingdom." The black haired Demon that looked like Mark told Signe, stepping out of the shadows. The other one was nowhere to be seen, setting Signe on edge.
"Liar!" Signe shot her crossbow, the arrow embedding into his shoulder. He cried out in pain as he stumbled back in surprise, caught off guard by he sudden attack.
"Signe stop!" Robin blurted.
"Mark's there too!" Dark added.
"No he isn't." Amy frowned, stepping closer to the Demon and preparing to strike in case he lied again.
"It's true! I gave them horses and they left!" Dark protested defensively.
"Wrong answer." Amy swung her hammer, the brunt of the force hitting Dark square in the chest. All of the air in his lungs was exhaled in a wheeze as he doubled over in pain, falling to his knees onto the floor.
"Where's the other Demon bastard?" Signe snarled.
"You can beat me up all you want, but you are NEVER getting near Anti." Dark spat in Signe's face.
"Take me to him." Signe ordered sternly, aiming the crossbow at the Dark's chest.
"I offer you an alliance and this is how you repay me?!?" Dark roared in fury once he regained his breath as Signe's finger hovered over the trigger.
"You took Sean away from me, and I don't take kindly to that." Signe spoke curtly as she fired again. This time Dark was ready, quickly standing up and stepping to the side to avoid the shot.
Unfortunately he couldn't dodge Brad's sword at the same time.
The sword slices through his leg, almost severing it completely. Dark screamed in pain as he collapsed to the floor once again, trying desperately to crawl away from the five.
Tyler stopped him by stepping onto Dark's injured leg, holding him in place. Dark cried out in pain again as he struggled to wriggle free.
"I have no quarrel with your people-"
"Then why did you attack all of the kingdoms?" Brad argued.
"I did it for Anti! And I'd do it all over again for my love...he's my king." Dark shook his head, tears of pain and sadness glittering in his raven black eyes.
Amy felt a twinge of remorse for the Demon, although she knew she probably shouldn't. She looked at Dark's face and he was helpless.
"Is this some kind of trap?" Robin's eyes narrowed in suspicion.
"N-No." Dark choked out before he slipped into unconsciousness, the pain hurting too much.
"Dark? Is everything-"
Anti froze mid sentence, noticing Signe, Amy, Brad, Robin, and Tyler standing over Dark's broken body. Anti had a bandage wrapped around his head and his throat, his right eye covered by a patch.
"What did you do?" Anti whispered.
"Where's Sean?" Signe notched an arrow in her crossbow and aimed it at Anti's chest.
"I don't know, now leave!" Anti commanded threateningly, attacking Tyler since he was closest. He wasn't fast enough to beat the arrow Signe fired. The arrow hit Anti's chest, coming dangerously close to his neck. Anti immediately collapsed to the floor unconscious.
"Don't attack!" Mark burst into the castle with Felix and Jack.
"We're too late." Felix spoke softly, seeing Dark and Anti's unconscious forms on the floor, blood pooling around them.
"No we're not." Mark's face was set in determination as he scooped up Dark's body, Jack picking Anti up.
"If we take them, wouldn't the Demons find out and try to kill us?" Tyler frowned.
"If we stay, they'll kill us anyway." Brad argued.
"It's safer to be back at the kingdom, we have soldiers that can fight if necessary." Mark decided as he walked outside, the others following. It was night now, the moon and the stars the only things lighting their path home. Mark had Dark lying on the front of his horse so he could watch him while everyone else except Jack and Anti rode their own horse.
The ride back to the castle was tense and full of anxiousness as Mark and Jack had to constantly stop and make sure Dark and Anti were still alive before continuing.
"Matt, Joey, come here!" Mark yelled once they arrived at the castle. Instantly the two brothers came running up, stopping in front of Mark.
"I need you to take them into the barracks and see what you can do for them." Mark instructed, gesturing at the two Demons. They both nodded, knowing better to question why the were saving the kings of Demons as they carefully lifted Dark and Anti off of the horse and quickly brought them inside the barracks.
"The people are panicking, I don't know what to do!" Marzia ran up to Felix, her eyes wide with fear.
"Cry's taking care of them now, but since the attack...a lot of homes were destroyed." Marzia calmed down slightly as she continued.
"Where are the wounded?" Jack questioned.
"In the barracks, but we don't have enough healers." She stated.
"I'll see what I can do." Any chimed in.
"I can help." Signe added. Together the three queens rushed to the barracks while the three kings ran to the front of the castle where they could see a large group of people gathered in front of Cry.
"Everyone calm down-"
"Easy for you to say, you're a spirit, you probably don't even care!" Someone from the crowd shouted, interrupting Cry. For a brief moment, Mark could of swore he saw hurt briefly flash across Cry's neutral white face. He shook his head, knowing he probably imagined it.
"Hey!" Felix yelled to get their attention. Immediately all eyes turned towards him, a few mouths agape in shock. No one seemed to expect him to still be alive after being gone for a couple of days.
"I know that everything has kinda gone to shit, but that's why we're here. To fix everything. We talked to the kings of the Demons Anti and Dark, and worked out a negotiation that he and his people would help rebuild the kingdoms." Felix informed them, electing a couple cheers.
"However, they're badly injured, so we have to wait until he wakes up before we can do he can help." Mark added.
"So shut the fuck up and chill while the soldiers keep you inside until we have more room in the barracks or something!" Jack yelled. The crowd gradually dispersed, following the remaining soldiers inside the castle.
"Um, guys?" Tyler's face paled as he looked over the horizon.
Jack, Felix, Robin, Brad, and Mark turned to see what he was looking at, all of them almost wishing they hadn't. They couldn't see the horizon since a massive shadow of Demons was quickly advancing towards them.
And they weren't going to hesitate to kill them.
