We stopped after running for about 5 minutes, and caught our breaths.

I gave Jack a big hug.

"Thank you soooooo much Jack! You saved my life!" I said.

I let go, and he nodded, looking down at the ground.

Then Sydney gave me a huge hug.

"Lucy, you saved my life! Thank you!

I hugged her back, and we smiled.

"Well." I said laughing. "We'd better get back to class."

It pained me to say those last few words.

Sydney and Jack nodded slowly, contemplating the consequences.

Eventually, we parted ways, walking back to our classrooms.

I had fourth period reading, and since Mrs. Shmine, our reading teacher, was.... gone, I had no idea who our teacher would be.

I could only hope it wouldn't be the one I was thinking of.
