Chapter Huit
I nervously inched my way into the classroom, and was delighted to see our art teacher had been called in.
About half of the class was gone, including a girl I knew named Gabrielle.
I saw my friend Liam from band, and walked over to him.
"So, you're one of the lucky people who didn't go to band today, huh?" I said.
"I wouldn't say lucky, I had a dentist appointment. What was wrong with band?" He asked curiously.
I decided not to tell him.
"W-well, um. You see-" I began, but Liam interrupted me.
"Hold on. You're stammering, that means you aren't telling the truth." He said.
I looked down at my feet.
"Um, well, it's hard to explain, and even harder to understand." I said quietly.
"Well, let me ask this. What happened to my friend Gabrielle? She was here this morning..." He said questioningly.
"Oh, Gabrielle? She had a, a, doctors appointment thingy. She told me during MLT, you just didn't hear I guess..." I said, wishing I'd come up with a better excuse.
He frowned.
"Well, is she okay? Or is it just an appointment?"
"Like I said, an appointment." I mumbled.
"Well, okay then. I'll um, see you later, I guess." He said.
"Well, we are in the same class!" I said.
He smiled and nodded, then went and sat down in his seat.
I sat down, and began hitting myself in the head with my pencil case.
