[Chapter 70]
It was deathly quiet in the hallways of the warehouse now, as I looked around, trying to make sense of the building. But I felt like a trapped rat in a cage, and not knowing my way around didn't make it any better.
I heard voices from one room, as I leaned against the wall, perking my ears.
"I know it's impractical having her here, but it's the only way to get rid of that man. It'll just take a while before she's in shape again." A woman said, and that's when I felt my heart skip a beat
It was my mother.
I fiddled with the doorknob, but it was locked, so I knocked lightly.
One of the guards opened it, as he quickly turned back.
A few words were exchanged, before he opened the door fully and I ran into my mothers arms, sobbing.
"Mother... I've missed you... Father told me you were dead, I don't.." I sobbed, as she just patted my back gently.
"There, there... that man could never kill me." My mum cooed gently, as she kissed my forehead.
"I'm... Mum they left me.. my friends left me.. I don't want to be here." I sobbed. I don't understand why I was crying - she wouldn't care, would she?
"I've kept one of your friends here, Y/N. Do you want to see her?" My mum asked, as I just looked up at her with narrowed, confused eyes.
"Her? As in.." I said slowly, as she just pulled me with her into another room.
Kara lay asleep on a bed, a blood covered bandage wrapped around her stomach.
I rushed forward, wrapping my hand in hers.
"Kara, I am so sorry, for all of this. It's my fault, it's my family's fault, I'm so sorry." I whispered, as she stirred.
"I won't blame you, Y/N... you didn't know.." Kara said as she slowly sat up, her skin caked in sweat.
I helped her up as she groaned slightly.
"The people your father work with are brutal, jeez." She laughed gently, sitting up.
My mother placed a hand on my shoulder.
"Kara is my adopted daughter, Y/N. After your father sent those men to kill them, I was horrified for the child. Me and her mother were always close, so I signed adoption papers before the woman's death. I expected your father to keep Kara here, so I could raise her myself, but he let her out." A flash of rage crossed her face, before she smiled slightly again. "But that doesn't matter. She's home now. All that's left is to get rid of your father."
"But-" I started, but she cut me off.
"Y/N. He is a horrible man. We don't need him. You know that." My mother whispered, her voice dripping with malice.
"I agree with your mother, Y/N. Then you get his empire - he's quite rich, you know, despite the fact he's been hiding in a warehouse." Kara smiled slightly, before sighing. "Although, you don't want this life, do you?" She added quietly, her eyes locking with mine.
I shook my head. "No, not really."
My mother placed her hand on my shoulder. "Oh don't be silly, Y/N, this is exactly what you want."
I just looked at Kara, frowning, as she nodded.
She then smiled, looking over at my mother.
"Oh don't worry Ms Park, I'll make sure Y/N wants this life, I'll tell her all the fun stuff."
My mother just smiled back, before squeezing my shoulder and walking off.
"Y/N, I don't trust her. I know she's your mum or whatever, but why am I here?" Kara asked, as I shrugged.
"I have no clue.. why did your team leave you here?" I asked, my lip shaking slightly. "Lee Know practically handed me over to my father."
"I told Chan to leave me. As for Lee Know, I've told you, he's a bit of a jerk sometimes. But he was probably just trying to protect the others. They're family, remember." Kara explained, laughing quietly.
"Right, family..." I trailed, as Kara just reached out for my hand.
"Yours stinks, but it's not all that bad. We'll figure out what to do about them. Your dad, supposedly I'm going to kill him, which I wouldn't mind saying what he did to my parents," She frowned, before sighing, "but I don't know how to deal with your mother, Y/N. If she isn't killed you won't be able to go back to your normal life. But she's your mother, so you make the call for that one."
I just nodded, before standing up, and leaving.
Firstly, I had to map out this warehouse in my head so I knew where I was going.
By this point, both Stray Kids and BTS had long since left, and I didn't blame them.
There job was done - return Y/N to her parents. Return me.
I wanted to know, so desperately, was mine and Hyunjin's relationship a fraud? So that I would stay by their side?
Sadly, it probably was.
I just didn't want to think about that.
"You didn't really love Y/N, did you?" Changbin asked Hyunjin on the way back, as they walked through the busy streets, Chan trying to flag down a cab.
"Well-" Hyunjin started, but Seungmin cut him off.
"Of course he didn't! Boss told us to get closer to Y/N, so he just used his charm to woo her, of course. It's all we had, saying Ji Woo was out of the picture... speaking of which, what happened to her?" Seungmin asked, as Jeongin shrugged.
"I got her to go back to her parents place in country Korea, so she won't be at risk." Jeongin said, as Hyunjin just glanced at him.
"Did you suggest that to her or threaten her to leave, Jeongin?" Hyunjin asked, as Jeongin smiled.
"Ah, perhaps a bit of both." Jeongin said, as Hyunjin rolled his eyes.
"Y/N's only friend out of the mafia and you send her away. Real smooth." Hyunjin scoffed.
"What's up his arse?" Seungmin muttered, as Hyunjin just rushed on forward, slinging an arm around Felix.
"She'll be alright mate." Felix said, glancing at Hyunjin.
"Are you telling me or yourself that? Chan said Kara was worse for wear." Hyunjin asked, as Felix sighed.
"Both, I suppose. I know how you felt about Y/N, but I know Kara has a plan. She's never agreed with this task in the first place. Just look, before you know it, we'll both have our girls back, yeah? And you've gotta tell Y/N you actually like her, she probably thinks it's for the mission, like Lee Know's flirting." Felix whispered, as Hyunjin chuckled.
Lee Know just glanced back.
"I heard that, Felix. You're lucky I won't airfry you like I would Hyunjin." He said, before laughing to himself.
Han and Gabs trailed at the back.
"Don't you think it's weird? This whole task. Why was her father suddenly so desperate?" Gabs asked, as Han shrugged.
"He's always been desperate, I guess. We were probably just distractions for his daughter. But to be honest, I always thought it was obvious her parents were responsible for Kara's parents deaths, no?" Han asked, as Gabs frowned.
"A part of Kara probably knew that, but she trusted Y/N too much. Now what's going to happen? She's trapped with those monsters, and who knows what's going to happen now that he's got his beloved Y/N back." Gabs said, as Han shrugged.
"A shift of power in the underworld. That's it, really. But not for long. I don't think our Kara is going to let that man live very long, is she?" Han said, as Gabs smiled.
"No, she sure won't."
Chan stopped in front of everyone, as a bus finally pulled over.
He smiled at the bus driver.
"Jackson! You and your random day jobs, I swear."
Jackson grinned. "Hey, I've got to blend in somehow. The bus is empty, so pile on, and I'll take you all back home."
Chan looked back, BTS trailing behind as well, before looking to Jackson.
"I know you hate them, but-"
"I'll take them back to base as well. Let them in." Jackson said, and then all 16 people piled onto the bus in chatter, like some form of school field trip, as it drove off, the 'in service' sign flipping off.
"Y/N! Come, come, let me show you my plan, honey." My father grinned, pulling me into another room.
A table was littered in papers, and in the centre there were photos of many men.
"Who are they? What is all this, Father?" I asked, as he just grinned.
"My dear, these are the other big mafia bosses. The ones who own BTS, Stray Kids, and all those other youngsters, and I'm going to take them out to get us our power back, honey. So just sit back and relax, and let daddy do this for you. For us. For our family."
