[Chapter 60]

A/N and before I knew it we were at part sixty.. man I'm starting to think I should split this into two books- be honest, is it getting boring?

Jimin sighed at the phone screen. Y/N must have overheard.
He would have a word with her afterward, as he hit the call button, Felix picking up on the first ring.

"So, I'm assuming a little birdie told you I was behind the phone." Jimin said, stepping out the room.
Kara had noticed, but what could she do?
Her tongue felt thick, and just trying to raise an arm took it all out of her.
So she laid there and stifled her cries. Even crying was hard.

"Suppose the little birdie did. Why." Felix asked.
"Well, as you're aware both of our teams have a common goal. In normal circumstances we would team up, but of course this Y/N case is difficult." Jimin started, locking himself into his room.
"What does she have to do with it?" Felix asked.

"Well, there's no point in hiding it. Y/N will snitch anyway. Kara's been poisoned." He said bluntly.
Felix went silent for a minute. "Why? Are you sure?"
"Oh Jin is completely sure. Someone broke in through her window, slipped in, poisoned her and left. It's killing her brain, Felix, so we're going to save her. It's going to take Jin at least a week to make something to cure her, and that's assuming she'll live." Jimin explained.
"Let me come see her." Felix asked, as Jimin heard shuffling on the other end of the line.
"Ah, how can I be sure this isn't your groups way of getting her back? There is one clear goal here- they want to get to someone through Kara. Unless she has an enemy who would go to such lengths to kill her, which wouldn't surprise me, they're trying to get to us. Either you, me, our teams, or Y/N. Whoever they are, they're playing their cards well." Jimin said, glancing out the window.

"We can help you. Both Stray Kids and BTS want her healthy, do we not?" Felix asked.
"Stay out of it, please. We can save her just fine. I'll send you the footage anyway. But do not come here. We've got it sorted."

With that Jimin hung up, tears welling in his eyes.
He was scared. That was the first time he truly was in ages.

Days passed, and Kara didn't get any better.
She didn't get any worse, either.
Hyunjin knew. He told me he did, and he asked me to keep his friends updated if anything changed.
It made sense, really. They had been friends for years, and it was only natural.

"Hyunjin, why don't you just come over and check on her yourself?" I asked.
He shook his head. "I don't really get along with Jungkook and his friends, if you hadn't noticed."
"I could bring you in." I offered.
He smiled at me, ruffling my hair.
"That would be nice, but no, it's okay."
He pulled me into a hug, and as I felt him touch my lower back, I winced.

Me and Jungkook had been training almost every night for the past week, so I was sore all over.
But my back stung like crazy, and I knew it was bruised.
So as Hyunjin raised a brow, he spun me around, lifting the back of my shirt up.

"Who did this?" He asked.
"I've been doing some combat training with Jungkook. You know, incase people like that guy come after me..." I trailed.
Hyunjin sighed. "I could've helped train you. Is he just flipping you every chance he gets?"

I shrugged. "More or less."
"What sort of stuff have you been doing?" Hyunjin asked.
"Only like, defence stuff to do with guns. Like how to take it from someone. Hence the flipping." I sighed.
Hyunjin scoffed. "He's older than me but he's an amateur. I'll do you one better- I'll teach you how to throw a punch. Because that, my dear Y/N, is more important. Not everyone has a gun, and in the moment, not everyone has the guts to take it when the barrel is against your head." He smiled, pecking my forehead before the bell rang.
"Ah! Well, lunch is over. Tomorrow. I'll teach you then."

When the school day ended, I went straight back home.
Well, Jungkook and co's house.
Namjoon and Jin were in the living room, avidly talking about Kara's situation.
Jimin had told them I heard them, so it was an open conversation.
"What do you mean you've got nothing?" Namjoon asked, his voice raising to a yell, clearly impatient.
"Exactly as I said. I can't figure out an antidote at this point in time! I need to draw more blood, but it's so heavily filled with the anaesthetic I've administered her it'll be hard to read!" Jin yelled back.

Taehyun wandered past, before he grabbed my hand.
"Hey! Where are you dragging me?" I asked.

"Jungkook told me he's training you, when he's left out the most volatile thing. How to fire a gun."

That's how I ended up in that basement with Kang Taehyun, a gun in my hands.
He had his body wrapped around mine, as he adjusted my hands.
"That's how you load the gun, and that's obviously the trigger. Six rounds when fully loaded means you've got six shots." He said, lining my hands up.

"If you're planning on slowing someone down, go for a hand or leg. Hands stop them from being able to throw punches or hold weapons, and legs stop them from being able to chase you. Of course you could always go for the head or chest to get them to shut up, but that's murder." He chuckled, as he moved off of me.

"Go ahead, shoot." He grinned.
So I did, jumping back at the force of the weapon in my hands.
Taehyun clapped. "You hit the targets stomach. Fatal if not treated. Good job."

We kept going for an hour, before he told me he had something to do, taking me back upstairs.

I went to go visit Kara, and as I slowly opened the door, I saw who I presumed was a butler standing by the side of the bed, his hand on the IV plug, as he flicked at the drip.
The anaesthetic started to drip in faster, as he chuckled, pulling a syringe from his pocket.

"Sleep well, Princess." He said, as he got ready to inject it into the drip.
I ran forward, tackling him to the floor.
He dropped the needle, as he stared up at me.

"You don't work here. I've never seen you before." I said, narrowing my eyes.
I kept my hand on his neck, as I reached up, hitting the 'call nurse' button.
It really just sent a shrill buzz through the house.

"You're so fucked." I spat.
The man just laughed.
"The girls going to be dead in a minute, anyway. The anaesthesia will have euthanised her by then."

I scowled, jumping off of him, fiddling with the switch.
But I couldn't figure out how to slow it down, as Kara's heartbeat slowed on the monitor, as she started to cough slightly.

Almost all of the boys came rushing in.
Jin came instantly to me, flicking the switch closed, as the liquid stopped dripping in.
He pulled the IV out completely, before he fiddled with some other cables, looking in the drawers.
"Jungkook. Get adrenaline. It's in that drawer." Jin said, as Jungkook checked the one on the other side of the bed, passing it over to him.
Jin nodded, as he pulled the needle from the bag, injecting Kara quickly.

Her heart rate increased, as she opened her eyes slowing, the spluttering slowing to a stop as her breathing evened out.
"It's okay, it's okay." I told her, grabbing her hand.
Jimin held her other one, squeezing it before he turned to the man on the floor, who Yoongi and Taehyung had held down.
Namjoon went and kneeled in front of the man.

"I'm going to give you ten seconds to answer my question. Who are you, and who do you work for?" Namjoon asked.
The man spat. "I'll never tell you."
Namjoon sighed.
"Well, let's do this the hard way. Take him to the basement. I believe he needs a little, persuasion."
As he followed them, he pulled a knife from his pocket.

Jimin was the only person still in the room with me after a few minutes, as Jin finished checking Kara.
He had taken the syringe too. He assumed it was the same poison, so he was going to use that to make an antidote.

"They're going to torture that man, aren't they?" I asked.
Jimin sighed. "What do you know about us, Y/N. Be truthful."

"You're a mafia group, aren't you?" I said, as he just looked me dead in the eye.
He cocked his head slightly to the side, before he smiled.

"Well aren't you a smart cookie, Y/N."
He walked around the bed, so that he was right in my face.
"Aren't you scared of us? Of me?" He mused.
I held my breath. "No."
"Your heart is thumping, you're holding your breath, and you're getting close to sweating. You're lying. Can't you connect all the dots now?" Jimin grinned, his face right in mine.

"What dots?"

"Why do you think my group of friends, hates your little boyfriend Hyunjin's group, hm?" He asked.

"You're rival groups.." I whispered,
He smiled. "Ah, not always! Just recently. I did steal Felix's girl, so it does kind of make sense. But that's for you to figure out, my dear. I thought Kara had already exposed us. Beomgyu told me. I would have had a go at her, but," he said, his eyes softening as he glanced at her, "she's not really going anywhere."

"What do you guys want with me? If other gangs are after me, are you after me too?" I asked.
Jimin chuckled. "Full of yourself, aren't you? That's a secret, my dear."

In that moment, everything changed.
After that, he left me with Kara.

"Go to Hyun.." Kara whispered.
"What?" I asked.
"Stay.. with Hyunjin.. please.." She whispered again. "Now you know.. they'll finish it.."

"Finish what?" I asked.
"The... mission.."

"Now, now, Kara, you shouldn't try speaking just yet." Namjoon said, as he wandered in.
"Great News. You can go back on the medicine now. Jin's here to hook you back up."

Kara shook her head. "No.."
He frowned. "It's non-negotiable. Y/N, a moment of your time?"

He had blood in his hair, as a shiver passed down my spine, I stood outside the room with him, whilst Jin went inside.
Kara protested as he plugged the IV back in, as she felt herself go heavy once more.
He left almost straight away, nodding at Namjoon.
"I would think you would seem more betrayed." He mused. "How does it feel, knowing you were right all along?"

"Are you going to hurt me?" I asked.
Namjoon shook his head.
"I still stand where I always have. We are protecting you. That's all."

Kara wanted to yell out, to tell me he was lying.
But her throat felt closed off.

She was starting to wish the poison killed her, instead of having to suffer with all of this commotion, knowing who and what is doing this to her.
Instead, she feels she's being tortured.

"If that's all, then no, I'm not betrayed." I said, turning and walking off.
He gripped my arm before I left.
"Don't- don't believe anything Kara says for awhile. That's if she does speak. The anaesthetic keeping the poison off is fogging her head."

I just nodded. "Sure."

How much I wanted for them to cure her, to stop drugging her, so that I could get answers.
Since she was the only one willing to without a cost.
